The Egian archipelago, previously unknown to much of the population, has recently become the talk of every person in the Zahedan since the international press, media and social networks have begun to exploit the news coming from these islands under the administration of the Mydia Empire and expose the growing territorial dispute over them by the Union of Albany. Many of the concerned citizens have begun to fear that this is reason for a Great War to break out again and the compulsion to stockpile supplies or prepare homes for what appears to be an imminent international confrontation has not been long in coming, forcing the country's executive branch authorities to personally go out and tour their respective hometowns to ensure that all was in order and promise that, in the worst-case scenario, there would be no repeat of the events that took place in the 2017-2024 period as the Grand Duchy of Ralzawr would remain on the brink of conflict and that, given the case, the World Society would intervene to ensure peace by making both states had to reach an agreement.

Weather in the lower islands of the FE, the marine layer is finally starting to set in and cause fog and mist for much of the southern parts of the Empire. It is winter. The temperature may not change much, but it's very, very wet. Be careful if you are flying at low altitudes, sailing, driving, or just traveling in that matter. The fog will be thick and not be very fun to travel in. It should decrease by around 18:00 but won't totally clear. Visibility in the Southern Empire should reduce pretty quickly by about 21:55. Snap Elections in Mydia Ignites Qastari Political Factions
As anyone knows, a recent spate of bombings in Mydia has left the political situation in chaos. The bombings took out hundreds of civilians and government officials, and nearly the Archon herself. While the Qastari goverment did openly condemn the use of violence, murmers in the streets and the occasional leaked soundbite of a Worker's Party or Progress Party representative have indicated that this may be indicative of a positive shift in public opinion - OR, it could be an omen of something much more dire. While it is difficult to predict the future from the outside, Mydia's government and in particularly Archon Galanis have in the view of the Qastari government made a number of impulsive decisions in order to ease the public. This includes, in the face of the ruling coalition government bleeding members, dissolving the Synedrio and calling for snap elections. This seems to have worked - for now - but the situation in our Northern neighbor's nation has left interests and tensions high, including riling up the energy of supporters in Qastari of various political parties in Mydia. Many want to see for example a social democratic government installed which would make it easier for the two countries to work together, while others would gladly see Mydia double down on its current political agenda if not double down.

In the midst of Qastari's political parties coming into conflict already, leading up to our own elections, the situation could turn into much more momentous of a year than previously anticipated. While descendants of the now-abolished Qastari royal family do not hold particular love for the Monarchs of Mydia, Drek'ahn Maachhus -unofficial leader of the Nationalist Party in particular - has seen mobilization of the Mydian Conservative National Alliance as an inspiration and rallying cry for the party's supporters. It is rumored among the circles of other political factions that he deals with the Qastari Traditionalist Party as well, however this has yet to be proven by their opposition.

The Will of Egia Takes one Step Forward - And Another Back
On the international stage, the most momentous turning of events comes from the Egian Archipelago. With Qastari officially being a close ally to the Union of Albany, our citizens were almost universally either tuned in to the referendum in Egia, or out in the streets in support of their people. Since the Great War, ownership of the Egian islands has been internationally seen as a contentious topic, with political lines drawn down the lines of the Valentian Alliance and Commonwealth of Nations. With masses of both supporters both for Egia to be reunited with the Union, and for the archipelago to remain under the authority of the Mydic Empire, Qastarians across the country waited with bated breath for the vote counts to be announced.

First, the votes against reunification were announced: 131,262 against. Given the population of the Egian Archipelago, for a brief few seconds, there was uproar in the capital. Then, as the announcement on our official televized and social media streamed news continued, the FOR count was given: 131,293.

President of the Assembly, Ariya Mareqi, publicly applauded the vote counts, announcing to the country that at last, justice for the people of Egia will be achieved! However, few in the streets of Qastari would witness the entire speech as detractors from the decision were quickly enraged, and several fights broke out between what was now a clash between protesters and counter-protesters. Militia across the major cities of Qastari who were stationed outside of crowds, anticipating fights to break out in crowds no matter the decision, were swift to sanction groups of crowds off from each-other. However, this came with varying levels of success, as it is reported that five civilians were killed, and roughly 200 injured in the capital of Drakhas.

For the time being, curfews have been initiated in the capital in order to keep physical conflict to a minimum. However, Mydia's reaction to the vote in Egia has only excited the populus more.

In a move that shocked all of Qastari, the Synedrio of the Mydic Empire ruled that the outcome of the vote in Egia for the Archipelago to unify with the Union of Alba to be invalid under an over 40 year old, war-time security law. In under a day of physical confrontations dying down in the streets of Qastarian cities, both furious Qastarians in support of Egia and dissenters who simply would not like to see them join the Commonwealth of Nations filled the streets once again. The move by the government of Mydia is seen in the Qastari ruling government as an aggressive and authoritarian move against the will of the people of Egia. While the Liberal Party of Qastari is fairly split on the ownership of the Egian Archipelago, the Worker's Party and Progress Party have come out in force against the move, condemning the last-minute move.

The government of Qastari has officially announced its support of its ally, the Union, and its support of the people of Egia, in that they will not allow what is now viewed in Qastari as an occupation by the Mydic Empire.

While these events have thrown the internal politics of Qastari into some chaos such that the nation cannot divert its full attention to the islands of Egia themselves, several Qastari fleets have been mobilized in defensive positions around the islands of Taniys, and a single fleet is en route towards the Egian Archipelago with the intent to aid ships sent by the Union in peacekeeping. The fleet has also offered to assist in the evacuation of anyone who wishes to leave the island, in order to minimize destruction to Egian cities, whether they wish to be transported to Mydia or the Union, or otherwise international citizens who feel endangered in the crossfire.

The government of Qastari's intent in this scenario is to gesture internationally that its navies are dedicated both to the defense of Qastari and its Commonwealth allies, while President Mareqi has publicly urged the Mydic Empire to back down in order to maintain peace.

• Foreign Minister Maurizio Croce and Defence Minister Alessio Albano delivered a joint press conference today on the recent annulment of the Egia Achipelago plebiscite. Minister Croce supported Mydia in its decision, stating that Sartoria recognises its ally's right to take all reasonable steps to uphold its territorial integrity and sovereignty without interference from foreign powers. Minister Croce further stated that discussions are underway within the Valentian Alliance to ensure that Mydia is well supported in the event that the impasse with Albany deteriorates.

• Minister Albano also stated that the Sartorian Navy and Air Force have been placed on alert, noting the deployment of Union and Qastari forces. Minister Albano remarked that Sartoria does not seek to escalate the conflict but will "take all reasonable steps to uphold its commitments under the Treaty of Merritt".

Dangerous Working Conditions Act

Congress and the House of Majors have passed on legislation that will improve conditions in harsh working environments (like mines and arms manufacturing plants). This act includes increased pay from 8.50 Vekks per hour to a livable 15 Vekks per hour and includes an extra 2.50 Vekks per hour for hazard pay. This law would also include increased break amounts and require all companies who employ under harsh conditions to give all workers healthcare at no pay deduction. This will require a small boost in corporate taxes, but only to those companies who make 700 million Vekks or more per year. The Liberal Society Party, Green Party, and some members of the Centralist Party are shocked to see a vote this close by both chambers of the Legislative Branch. We are too.

Lake Derrkinor Mountain Cleanup Project

Lake Derrkinor Mountain now has a goal for cleanup. Lead Advisor for the newly formed Air Pollution Control Board, Jaarvis Vrenn has given trash companies 3 years to clean up the nearly 23 tons of trash that have piled up. Jaarvis Vrenn has called this landfill the "most embarrassing thing that President Leemm can let happen". Over the last 24 years, this dump has killed off 21 species, has made the environment completely unlivable, and has polluted Lake Derrkinor allowing acidic and toxic water to flow down the Vekkmamchi River. The Green-Life Party has introduced legislation to put nets to catch trash and filtration systems on the river so it can return to its natural beauty. The river and lake will take longer than 3 years to clean, but the trash pile has to go.

In a startling message from the Mydic Empire, it seems as though Mydia doesn't want to give back what was rightfully Albany's in the first place. But why though? We think it's a power move. We are letting Vesta know right now, whatever happens, Vekkla will be ready. Congress has alerted the Air Force to start mandatory military air drills just in case anything happens. Once the political climate cools down, Congress will call off the drills. The Vekkeli Air Force will only be flying in Vekkeli airspace and no worry or fear is meant to be caused.

Fleet puts to Sea
On the orders of President Prescott, the Union first and second fleets have been put to sea. They will rendezvous together well outside the territorial waters of the Egian Archipelago where they will remain for an unspecified time. With the announcement of a similar action by the government of Qastari, it’s believed the situation could escalate at a moment's notice. Already formation commander Fleet Admiral Saint Cloud had already issued an order to remain vigilant and calm in this trying time in order to avoid a mishap.

Rumors abound that battalions of personnel across the Union are being mobilized to ready positions though the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Nathan Radford denied such claims and said any personnel movements beyond the deployment of the fleets is purely routine and in no way should be misinterpreted as preparation for a larger campaign. Fleet power is also bebeing deployed towards the Eastern Straight though comments by the Navy have been scarce and amounting to tactical rotation.

Markets in Albany Rattled
Following the denial of the vote in Egia and the deployment of the Union fleets, the stock exchange in New Haven has seen a broad sell off as investors flock to gold, platinum and other safe havens in uncertain times. Already members of the Federal Exchange in Columbia have stated that the expected bond buyback will be paused for a month to review economic policy. Talk of a possible near term recession has also begun to circulate.

Corporate Haven?
Cloud Enterprises, Mercer Industries and Vought Technologies have agreed to a preliminary agreement that would seek to further innovation and, pushing the technological boundaries by petitioning the Union to cede a series of four man made islands just off the coast of New Haven to the companies in a 99 year lease.

The envisioned Corporate Zone would cover nearly 100km2 of pristine artificially made land. Originally the sprawling zone was to be an expansion for the city of New Haven and its 8.6 million inhabitants. Instead Mayor Imelda Williams pushed a bill through the city council to change the zone into a leasable property for the city to tax as income. Mayor Williams said by doing so it’ll push New Haven into the top spot as a global innovation hub as well as providing a much needed boost to the city’s budget.

Critics say it essentially places this land into the hands of three mega companies that already have an outsized influence on the governing of New Haven and are said to have extensive connections throughout all levels of government. Governor Jordan Wallace of New Haven heralded the decision as a momentous occasion that would bring about a new technology revolution to the Silicon Bay.

Investment into Vekkla
Though Vice President Harris promised large investments into Vekkla from the Union government, its been confirmed by Foreign Secretary JD Bullock that Cloud Enterprises subsidiary Verdant Horizons has put itself forward as a possible candidate to accept any Vekkeli contracts to clean up environmentally damaged areas. Vice-President of Global Affairs for Verdant Horizons, Claire Toller said that the various environmental rehabilitation projects that VH had carried out across Albany in the wake of the nuclear disasters.

VP Toller suggested that there would be no company more capable of helping the Vekkeli government than Verdant Horizons. A claim seemingly backed up by decades of serious and meaningful climate work.

Egian Flashpoint
The Mydic government of outgoing Archon Galanis has annulled the plebiscite held by the Egian Archipelago after a less than 1% difference in the vote as well as an evolved security situation resulted in the using of a 2029 law allowing the annulment on the grounds of national security. While legally the maneuver is likely to ruffle feathers at home and abroad it does immediately show that the Empire was at a point where serious considerations had to be given.

Albany and its Commonwealth compatriots had taken to aggressive military actions stating it was reactionary and yet Mydia doesn’t criticize the movement of their militaries within their own nations and as it stands and is internationally recognized at the World Society, the Egian Archipelago is Mydic territory.

While the plebiscite was consented to through dealings with the Union, Mydia reserved a right in a clause of that agreement to reference national security as a valid reason for annulment as the plebiscite was purely in “good faith” and legally non-binding. While the various political factions within the Empire disagree on the future of the archipelago, one thing is certain; the Mydic government is open to further discussions with the Union on the fate of the archipelago but will not kneel before a foreign foe.

The Mydic Empire will continue to maintain its territorial integrity until such a time as a treaty of transfer is completed. Such a treaty has not been finalized between Mydia and the Union. At this time the Mydic Admiralty is positioning additional forces of the second and fifth fleets to the archipelago joining the first. Admiral Juliana Tsiro has been appointed Fleet Admiral for the duration of Operation Agamemnon.

Additionally forces from the Mydic Imperial Guards will be deployed to the archipelago to beef up the current garrison and bringing the present forces to 75,000. Up from the current 60,000. Additional air wings and missile detachments will be deployed over the coming weeks into additionally hardened positions throughout the archipelago and around its capital Thessalon.

Rousania Proposal Declined
The Foreign Minister confirmed reports that the government of Rousania had offered to mediate between the two sides in the Egian matter and even proposed potential compromise scenarios. While the Foreign Minster conveyed appreciation of a constructive diplomatic approach, she conveyed an understanding that at this time no compromise or land sharing solution would be considered acceptable to the Mydic government and that dividing the islands was entirely out of the question.

Border Security Enhanced
The border to the south with Qastari, a Commonwealth state, has become increasingly militarized in the last week as tens of thousands of additional forces were brought in and existing bases expanded with largely temporary housing. Less temporary though is an increase in visible and hidden anti-air and anti-missile installations meant to deter air raids into Mydic territory.

The actual crossing points have remained free of additional military forces and seem likely to remain so. The free flow of civilians and material goods crossing both ways are considered critically important to the economies of the southern Mydic Realms. The Mydic south is also known to harbor softer views towards Qastari through longer periods of interaction between those southern realms and Qastari itself.

The Union has announced that instead of an investment from their government, Vekkla will be accepting private funds instead for environmental cleanup. Vekkeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, JoHannas Druundali, has said that Vekkla will still accept the offer and will make sure the job gets done. The private investor for Vekkla's Lake Derrkinor Mountain will be Verdant Horizons. They are owned by Cloud Enterprises and have cleaned up after the nuclear disasters that happened on Albanese territory. President Leemm has said that he will support the project, but there needs to be an overhaul on Vekkeli trash pickup.

Green Spaces are Important

Vekkla, as the world may know, isn't one of the cleanest environments on Vesta. Congress has also seen the browning condition in the nation and has said that cities are now under attack from the trash. Mountains of garbage (OOC: Think how it is in New York) have been piling up in city streets, not just in Consreep, but everywhere. Countess calls to the Health Department have been made to investigate the matter. Leading Health Advisor, Liam Jorking, said that the stench in cities is so bad, that you can see people wearing face masks to protect themselves from any diseases or to keep them from smelling trash as they walk by. Already, 50 businesses have closed just to help clear the trash and it just keeps piling high. Vice President Villk has seen the piles of trash and will be making a multipartisan bill to create 250 more recycling centers across Vekkla, as well as a "Recycling Initiative"( a 12% bonus on your tax refund at the end of the year). Vice President Villk has also said that he will invest 250 Million Vekks to create more parks and will speak to President Leem about enacting an Executive Order giving hefty fines for people who litter. It isn't Lake Derrkinor Mountain that needs to be watched, its the whole of Vekkla. But that's what happens when laissez-faire.

Stock Market Tumble due to Tensionsp

Stock markets took a hit today as uncertainty of military escalations is leaving investors worried. ChipCo took the biggest hit, losing nearly 18% of its stock. Brokers say nobody wants to buy right now because they are watching the Egian Archipelago situation closely, as we too could be potentially pushed into military conflict if tensions get worse. The Empress has asked the military to be on standby if anything escalates because it is "our solemn duty to protect and serve the VA as best as we can". Under no circumstances will the FE let the Union or any other CN Nation antagonize the likes of the VA. Stocks may recover in the next week if tensions ease, but 2 major banks are already warning of a recession if tensions between the VA and the Union continue to worsen..

Breaking

The VA ice missions are getting increasingly popular on the internet as some of the Franconian photographers from Vesta Geographic Magazine spotted some orcas off the side of their boat. The whales noticed their human friends watching and put on a song and show for them. This photo of an orca jumping out to catch a seagull has gained traction, so much traction that the Franconian National Museum of Art and Photography want to place it in their museum due to it being the first photo from any Franconian to take a picture that far north of latitude. The same photographer, Kristofell Heinzbin, took this photo of an iceberg with polar bears jumping from it and coming back like a diving board. It is amazing that these pictures have came through, but we have yet to scratch the surface. Ice melt reports, more photos, and even the planting of the VA Flag on the poles will be documented. More as it develops.

Prince Tobvdxou dies

Oxnvuri, 11 nejassaivo 2075 | His Imperial Highness Prince Tobvdxou, youngest son of former Holy Emperor Aurvna IV, grandson of former Holy Emperor Kisuri I, brother of former Holy Emperor Vaxvivi I, and great uncle to Successor Vaxvivei, has passed away, a spokesperson of the Imperial Palace has confirmed.

The oldest member of the current Imperial Family mostly spent his life in the shadows of his more prominent family members; apart from the occasional mandatory attendance of public events, Prince Tobvdxou kept to himself. Like so many other Imperial family members nowadays, he never married, and rumours about possible relationships with women or men were never confirmed.

Some people have however suggested that Prince Tobvdxou is in fact the notorious crime novelist Ixn Eitunave, who is responsible for more than 30 of the most popular novels in the genre and whose real identity has never been discovered (Ixn Eitunave is a pseudonym and means “I don’t know”); the Palace has always denied this.

Prince Tobvdxou was 97 years old. His funeral will take place in a private ceremony.

Update From the Border
Following the addition of nearly 25,000 soldiers to the already 15,000 stationed normally, the force facing Qastari is clear. The units have taken defensive postures and the official statement from the Mydic Defense Ministry is below:

“Following additional personnel movements within the national boundaries of the Empire and in consistency with the non-preemptive policy undertaken by the Galanis Administration, the Imperial Armed Forces can confirm that no additional units will be brought into the southern realms at this time. Reaction by the forces of Qastari will only be matched if they are considered aggressive but matching the current forces of the Empire as well as additional rotations of their own forces will be deemed well within norms and not considered potentially hostile. The Imperial Armed Forces continue to operate in the open so as to avoid a confrontation.”

Citizens living in the southern realms have voiced displeasure at the arrival of additional troops with New Dawn Party leader Margot Xedes criticizing the move as unnecessarily destabilizing and that if her party wins a mandate they would reverse the deployment in additional undoing the disastrous decision by Archon Galanis to annul the Egian Archipelago’s plebiscite on imperial membership.

Campaign Trail
On the campaign trail the various party leaders were crisscrossing the Empire in an effort to expand their party’s bases and potentially reach new voters. Political apathy has been steadily declining in the Empire and following the 2070 introduction of mandatory voting turnout is expected to hold steady at 96% or potentially see an increase as more people have aged into the voting system than aged out in the last five years.

In the west, National Front leader Andronicus Mede held a rally drawing nearly 25,000 people. The rally focused on criticizing the VA for not doing more in all capacities of military advancement, scientific endeavors and lifting more people out of a life of relative poverty. It’s well known that should the National Front win in September’s election, that Party Leader Mede would seek to expand the military presence of the Empire throughout its territory and that would include the Egian Archipelago.

In the south and at the other end of the political spectrum, New Dawn Party Leader Margot Xedes was criticizing the movement of military personnel both to the southern border with Qastari and to the Egian Archipelago citing both movements as counter to diplomatic efforts. Pledging again to roll back many of the anti-worker style laws that the New Dawn Party says the government of National Conservative Archon Galanis has passed. They frame in particular the “Jobs Security and Benefit Bill” which removed several clauses about contract working versus at will hiring. While the administration of Archon Galanis has framed the bill as simply removing a lot of the burdensome red tape of bureaucracy, those on the left point to it as potentially leaving tens of millions of Imperial citizens in a position where their employer could fire them without much cause.

Social Democrat leader Georgios Mastanakis was holding a series of Q&A’s at various universities, libraries and cafes spread throughout the northern coastal regions and deep into the Amazonian hinterlands. Overall the Social Democrats are seen as the most likely choice by the public in the upcoming snap elections. Party Leader Mastanakis is a known figure and nationally recognized as being the head of the Formal Opposition in the Synedrio. While the party has yet to take a stance on the monarchy itself, it has promised that should they be given the ruling mandate at the ballot box that they will work swiftly to hold a referendum on the existence and extent of the Imperial Monarchy.

The White Horizon
Far to the north in the arctic, a research team is investigating the ground based effects of climate change on the ice, the water and air as well as on the flora and fauna. While satellite imagery and occasional flyovers are good at discerning the extent of the ice melt, a ground based approach like this one will certainly see more information on the true extent of climate change as well as document the change in high quality imagery. A similar expedition will depart later this year for the Antarctic setting off from a Sartorian base to document changes to the Antarctic as well.

Rebuke Our Troop Movements
The non-aligned state of Ralzawr openly described their displeasure at the movement of Mydic troops to the border. Defense Minister Angelos quipped that other nations have no business expressing concern or any type of issue with the internal movement of the troops of the Empire.

The statements by the government of Ralzawr to potentially cut the Empire off from resources would be damaging to the global market as a whole. Trade between the Empire and the Grand Duchy ranks fairly slim on the overall economic business of the Empire. While losing the market would certainly be seen in the private sector as a blow to their margins, the Government would certainly consider such an action as out of proportion and wholly uncalled for.

This question of potential markets reshuffling between the VA and CN could see a larger investment by the corporate sphere in Mydia and other advanced markets to perhaps expedite the deep sea mining efforts as well as surveying both Sorana and Janus for valuable minerals to extract. Environmental groups question if the government should actually expand mining on Vesta or if they should focus on establishing some kind of offworld extraction capability. Many say that while it would be possible it simply wasn’t cost effective at this time as there were plenty of large untapped resources spread across Vesta.

Trade Minister Angeline Jarrou pointed to the Empire relying nearly 91% on either VA or Commonwealth nations for its imports in the last fiscal year and that number is expected to grow to between 93-96% due to the expansion of the Franconian chip market and the stabilizing of their power grid by the Empire through it’s Pan-Valentian Power Grid initiative. That said any disruption on the market would certainly have repercussions and that’s something Trade Minister Jarrou said would hopefully be avoided. She reiterated the point of the current administration that the Egian Archipelago was sovereign territory of the Mydic Empire and any suggestion otherwise would be regarded as “non-constructive” to bilateral relations.

Neighboring Biosphere Complete
Recently the nation of Rousania completed their Biosphere Reserve of Defa in order to better save nearly forty bird species listed as endangered in their nation. The move garnered much public praise and attention from the media in Albany and even President Prescott herself issued a remark saying she would look into ways of expanding current endangered species protections as well as potentially the creation of a new National Park. Already President Prescott has created the Albanese Whale Sanctuary and Marine Reserve off the coast of the State of Adler, the largest island the Union presently controls.

The Department of Tourism noted that there was already an increase in travel requests by citizens wanting to see the new biosphere in neighboring Rousania. Tourism is expected to increase towards Rouania in the coming weeks and months as word spreads and social media experiences of it expand.

Eagle ‘75 the last of the Eagle Missions
The launch of Eagle Mission 2075 has successfully launched from Beacon Spaceport in Heartland State. The interior launch was watched by nearly 50,000 on site and was streamed live globally. This is the 30th Eagle Mission to Apollo heralding back to the 2030s resumption of the Albanese space program post-great-war.

Eagle 2075 is slated to excavate an area of the surface of Apollo in search for deposits of subsurface ice and potentially sources of other valuable minerals. The next series of missions, officially marking a shift from Eagle Missions to the newly announced Eden Missions destined for potential enlargement of the Albanese Apollo base to civilian or corporate use.

The expansion will see fifteen habitat modules attached throughout 2075-76 afterwhich the name of the base will officially be changed to whichever acceptable name wins a public contest. But in a surprise announcement Commonwealth Space Administrator Collinn Briggs announced that the contest will be open to more than just the Union’s citizens but to the entirety of Vesta including non-CN member states. The competition will run through January 1 2076 at which time the name will be selected pending appropriate review. Coupled with the habitat modules, labs, recreation areas as well as facilities for the mining, refinement, shipping and handling of vehicle equipment will all be updated and expanded.

Eagle '75 is commanded by Astronaut Luis Salazar (41) a veteran of Eagles '59, '66, '68 and '71. Also on the mission are Lieutenant Commander Penny Atwood (38), Flight Engineer Ida Methvin (23) and Medical Officer Cornelia Stith (28). The four astronauts will be taking a Mercer Industries "Brythonite" rocket to the orbital space dock where a Lunar Shuttle will take the four and three additional astronauts already aboard the Cloud 1 station to Cloud 2 in orbit of Apollo before all seven descend onto the surface to carry out their mission objectives for Eagle 2075.

Mydic Tit-for-tat A "Strategic Victory for Qastari," says Minister of Defense

Speaking to the people of Qastari today, Qastari Minister of Defense Hamilcar Zephra addressed concerns of the public on the matter of Mydic troops movements on their Southern border. Tensions have gradually escalated on the Qastari - Mydic border since the Mydic Empire's refusal to accept the referendum on Egia's liberation, and both nations have acted to secure their national and alliances' interests. MoD Zephra seems confident, however, that Qastari's government has the right solution.

In front of a noisy crowd begging for answers, banners advocating for various agendas regarding both Qastari internal and international politics, Zephra addressed the public in a media appearance intended to assure the people that the situation is under control. In a brief speech, the Minister of Defense made the case to the public that troops on the border between Qastari and Mydia are not a threat, that the nation would take modest measures to deter any possibility of invasion, and that no matter what happens - the people of Qastari will be safe. At one point he emphasised, "The rocky hills and mountains on our northern border are both treacherous and densely forested. No nation will ever be able to threaten our northern border, and with the defenses moved into our cities and shores, our state-of-the-art military will hold any attackers at bay. If the Mydic Empire wishes to incite fear in our nation, I assure you, there is no current danger that threatens your livelihoods."

The Minister of Defense continued to frame the situation positively, and the crowds peacefully dissassembled later into the night. Unfortunately, with uttering such words, it seems inevitable that some of society will catastrophize - however Minister of Defense Zephra's words are true to the apparent beliefs of the government.

In a private interview with the National Report, Zephra spoke of the actual response of the Qastari government. It is true, according to him, that the ruling government of Qastari does not feel that the military movements in Mydia are an active threat - stating that "The same as us, we believe Mydia has multiple primary goals, chiefly among them to posture their military strength, and to allieve the concerns of their people. This is after all a chaotic time for Mydia's politics."

Qastari is now faced with a balancing act - in taking full advantage of the constant evolution of the situation, Qastari must both assure it's people that there is nothing to fear of Mydia, while also deterring Mydia from military action in Egia just enough not to prompt them to escalate further. With Mydia's recent reinforcement of the border, the government along with the Ministry of Defense has taken it as an opportunity to move further air defenses to cities and ships into local ports. With Mydia's public statement by the government that a proportionate troop movement within Qastari and presumably its territorial waters as well will not be taken as aggression, Zephra stated that for the purposes of a prospective defensive war that we will have the advantage.

"This is a strategic Victory for Qastari, defensively speaking. What threat do ground troops on the border of our countries present to our people and cities? For millenia the mountains in the North of Qastari have been a near-insurmountable chokepoint for military action, and with the advent of modern military technology that is more true now than ever."

In addition to moving 10,000 troops into Qastari's northernmost cities towards defensive positions and additional ships into local military ports, security has been temporarily tightened on the border as well. While normal movement of trade and tourism has been allowed to continue, border agents have been ordered to be vigilant of any suspicious crossings whether this be defectors from Qastari, possible saboteurs from Mydia, or any movements of persons that could cause additional actions by the Mydic military or government.

Minister of International Aid, Kindel Reechspig, has made the decision to aid Mydia by asking the Minister of Defense, Orm Ledonalik, to deploy 500 military medics from the Reserve for training. It is not uncommon for the FE or any other VA nation, to hold joint meetings or practices in foreign lands due to joint military bases built by the VA. This practice has been done since the formation of the VA. Former Archon Galanis said the 500 Franconian medics (doctors, nurses, etc.) are needed the most in Alessia, a far, southeastern major city in Mydic Empire. While there, the Mydic and Franconian Reserve Medics will be training to assist troops of the VA and learn about the different ways to save a life. Reserve Medics should be there within 3 days.

A 4.9 Magnitude Vestaquake has shook the Western part of the Main Island today. It happened at about 1300 in the afternoon about .5 miles offshore. No tsunami was triggered as it was deep underground. No damages were reported either.

Proposal for Sunlight

Since San Juarez is ready packed, tech companies are moving out of San Juarez and going to Sunlight. This news comes just days after Albany announced something that came out of Silicon Bay. Kiwi, Macrohard, and other companies are already hiring people out that way and is even getting Sunlight to expand. The Empress, excited about the competition, said that investing in Sunlight attracted more people. The current population of Sunlight is 95,000 but is expected to jump nearly 40% as companies start to move in. By 2085, the forecasted population will be at least 250,000. The Empress said that she isn't done quite yet with investment yet. She is going to give Sunlight another 1 billion Astrons for new infrastructure and beautification. The Empress promises that gentrification will not hurt their environment since most of Sunlight runs on electric vehicles and the factories are usually ran on electricity, not fossil fuels.

Main Island Grand Prix

The Tour de Franconia is taking place soon! Stats from all over Vesta will be here (OOC: You can send athletes too)! The first of 4 races will take place in Quol. It is a 4 mile race to the finish with the winding of the streets making it look short. The first race will be two days from now. Looking at the weather, some small off and on showers, but comfortable. Expect temperatures in the mid 70's and light wind.

Opening of the Koinovoúlio of Amazonia
Marking the 243rd session of the Koinovoúlio of Amazonia, the Basileus Leto III, his heir and grandson Crown Prince Philipos, his brother and sister-in-law Prince Alexandros and Princess Charlene as well as the Basilissa and most of the Basileus’ surviving children dressed in their imperial reignments and proceeded down the “Imperial Mile” between the Governor General’s residence and the Koinovoúlio of Amazonia. A traditional Amazonian band and accompanying detachment of the Amazonian Guards led the way. Nearly 130,000 are said to have lined the streets for the occasion which is usually marked by the Heir Apparent alone. This year the Basileus said it was crucial that all the realms feel the presence of the Imperial Household and that the people see them as stewards of the peace rather than as rulers to oversee the governance of the Empire.

The clear shift in attitude by the Imperial Household will have some impact on the snap elections as half the parties are decidedly positioned on the monarchy question while the two largest are simply stating they would do a referendum.

Amazonia is the one largest of the interior realms of the Empire and comprises the majority of the western borders. Its capital city of Xenia stands among the canopies of the jungles and while the realm extends to the northern hinterlands. Long a city of immense cultural standing, Xenia is home to 6.9 million people with the predominant political leaning to the Social Democrats in recent decades from a former traditionalist stronghold in the mid-1950s. A beacon of sustainability and eco-friendly urban development, the city relies heavily on its subway and above ground light rail options as well as electric mass transit options.

The public lining the route was exuberant with the arrival of the Imperial Family and the outpouring of public support is sure to warm the hearts of the Imperials as well as throw some cold water onto the rhetoric that they do not have the backing of the general public. One woman when interviewed characterized the event as the following:

“They’re just here to unify us. They don’t rule us, I don’t feel oppressed. Basileus Leto has led our people through difficult and trying times and I just trust that they mean the best. Archon Galanis however…” The woman continued to respond with negatives about the incumbent elected leader who runs the civilian government. Polling tracks with the Amazonian woman’s train of thought though with just 19% saying the Archon was handling the current situation the Empire was in well. An overwhelming 67% believed that the Empire was entirely on the wrong course. Comforting though were the polls showing 83% of respondents saying they believed the Valentian Alliance was proving that it would stand by Mydia no matter what with only 5% saying they believed that the Alliance would abandon Mydia if it were attacked.

Egian Reinforcements
It was announced that additional forces would be deployed to the Egian Archipelago and they have arrived. Tens of thousands of additional forces are being spread across the island group and entering into strong positions should they need to fight off an Albanese invasion force. The Mydic garrison had been increased from a standard 15,000 to 75,000. The reinforcements arrived via constant 24/7 air flights between the islands and the Mydic mainland over 6,000 km away.

Meanwhile, to the movements of the troops, the Mydic navy deployed the 3rd Fleet toward the Archipelago and with its arrival there was great pomp and circumstance throughout. The 3rd Fleets’ arrival meant there were now two entire Mydic carrier fleets present in the island group, totalling 36 warships between the two groups and another 25 local smaller war vessels and coast guard ships. The unknown and much more dangerous figure was the number of subsurface combatants.

Truly the might of the Mydic navy were its submarines and other submersible warships such as its light submersible carrier, the TM Lampro Dory which had accompanied the 3rd Fleet on previous maneuvers in the Valentian but had not been sighted at its port. Already there were rumors that a rather large submarine detachment had been sent to the islands with the TM Lampro Dory leading them. A third fleet per se of just subsurface vessels. Though the officials at the Admiralty refused to comment or otherwise confirm this and as such the Chronicle will regard this as speculation.

The Mydic fleets still remaining in the Empire’s main theater such as the Thalassic and Cosmic Seas are on heightened alert with the 4th Fleet expected to replace the 5th on it’s patrol of the Thalassic next week while the 7th and 9th Fleets will rotate out of the Cosmic respectively in the same timeline so as to give the personnel of the rotated fleets much needed shoreleave, many of whom have not been able to return to the mainland since before the bombings some weeks ago. Our thoughts and hearts go out to those affected by the Mydare Bombings.

Franconian Tour and Union Grand Prix
Renowned Albanese Cyclist, Gerald MacKenzie has announced that the race in the Franconia Empire will be his last. Gerald MacKenzie (52) has more cycling championships than any other Unioner at 29. His first victory came at the Melody Tour of 2045. Though he announced it would foreshadow his retirement, MacKenzie was said to be completely content no matter win or lose and that the race being in Franconia was nice as the scenery would make for a nice podium photo.

Other Union cyclists such as Augustus van der Meer, Harold Barns and Quintin Valetta are all expected to compete as well. Van der Meer in particular is a cyclist to watch as his times last month at the New Haven Tour was within a hair of MacKenzie’s personal record set nearly fifteen years ago in 2060.

Following the Franconian Tour, most cyclists are assumed to head to Albany for the Adler Tour followed by the Keystone Tour. The cycling tours will die down in the coming months as Formula E kicks off with the Central City Grand Prix followed by the Mt.Picard Grand Prix racing through Kathryn Valley to the William Plateau. The Mt.Picard race is widely seen as one of the longest tracks for Formula E with a straight away allowing the vehicles to exceed 250mph.

Vekkla Goes Cycling

Vekkla is sending 115 athletes to represent Vekkla in the Tour de Franconia. One of those is world renowned cyclist Birgit Reed. He holds 18 third place trophies in this tour and has been able to be in the top 5 since he has started competing. He will be traveling to Quol and is expecting the best from himself.

Nitrogen Explosion at Lake Derrkinor

A nitrogen buildup from deep inside the trash buildup on Lake Derrkinor Mountain had became to built up and created an explosion causing hundreds to evacuate. Lake Derrkinor Mountain had approximately 410 people working on the clean up as the explosion happened. Luckily everyone was able to get out with only minor scrapes and bruises, but one had to be hospitalized for brain injuries from flying back from the blast. A fire was created after the explosion due to highly flammable toxins in the area. Fire crews are trying to put out the fore, but the water is too acidic for the fore to stop burning. No message from President Leemm yet on the incident.

President Leemm has agreed to terms and conditions and will be running for a second term in Vekkla's Presidential election. Him, along with 4 others have announced their candidacy and paid the fees to start their campaign. For the Liberal Society Party: Margareet Kenderhoff and Kloe Binsterhind. For the Green Life Party is a seemingly popular candidate, Greta Hrand. She is running because she loves what Vekkla is doing by placing more environmental regulations down and wants to see where she can add more environmental standards for Vekkla. And finally for the Centralist Party: Jorgan Bistellinak. Bistellinak wants to make sure that Franconian influence stays away from Vekkla and will drastically increase the military budget for the trying times. President Leemm said he will run again for fun because he knows he will win again.
