Brazilian emergency government.

Government remnants of old Brazil after it collapsed.

Also I’d say the WW3 was in the 2060s or so

(Insert convenient fast travel here)

Rico lead them inland, away from the city. A few rocks stood in the flat ground, maybe the remnants of old cities, it was difficult to tell at that point. The ground was half sand and half dirt, and completely free of vegetation. They followed a faint trail on the ground marked by animal tracks. After a while of silent walking, they eventually got close to Rico's farm, marked by large mushrooms in the distance - very tall, all growing together, reaching into the sky like trees. When they got close, they could see that they were growing on a patch of black dirt, contrasting with the general tan-ness of the land around the patch. Around the mushroom trees were animals of similar size to Marax, with black and grey hair. They stood by what looked to be a river, with water that was surprisingly clear.

"Some of the mushrooms evolved to be big like that - I guess it's a free niche without trees around anymore," Rico remarked. "The animals are resistant to radiation, too. That's good, because most things would die if they drank the water from here."

Rico let go of Marax's rope, who headed to the river, and she lead the two into the mushroom grove. It seemed that a large variety of things were growing in there - vines hung from the mushroom tops and flowers were on the ground, with a fair bit of greenery around. They arrived at the center of it, which was decorated with grass and flowers. There was a large hole, which Rico walked into, gesturing for the two to do the same. They would go down a winding flight of stone stairs for what felt lke a long time, in complete darkness guided only by the sound of Rico's rifle clicking on the stairs. Finally, when they arrived at a large metal door illuminated by a light, which Rico opened to reveal a home of some kind - a bed, desk with a computer, and a small kitchen with appliances and cookware in open cabinets, with two other closed doors. The room was circular.

Rico grabbed a metal cylinder with a handle and nozzle attached to it, pumping air into it. She sprayed Jeremius and Marlene with a clear liquid.

"You should be contaminated to a clean level now - you can take your suits off here," she said, pulling out a pack of cigarettes from her pocket. She put one in her mouth, lighting it with her fireless igniter, and offered it to the two. "Y'want some? I figured you did back there."

During their walk they would look across the new landscape they were in now, it wasn't much different from what they saw before being that everything was sand and dust after the bombs fell. They would continue to follow until the two also noticed the animal tracks which was a little odd since they hadn't seen any other animals around them besides the boar they met earlier. Then they saw a change in the normal sights they were seeing. They saw larger mushrooms which were the size of trees which was very odd to them, they hadn't seen mushrooms this big since most of the ones they were use to seeing were planted in artificial gardens underground along with various other plants they grew. Then they saw a variety of other large animals there along with a river. It was pretty compared to what they were use to seeing on the surface.

"It's strange, there's not much pretty things left in the world, most of the time it's night time all day every day but certain times of the year." Merlene would say as they would walk.

The two would look to the animals and the river as they got closer to it. They hadn't seen water that clear in quite a while since the water they were use to seeing was the ocean water but that was contaminated from the radiation. The two saw other plant life was growing here besides the mushrooms but actual flowers. They hadn't seen many decorative flowers since the topside was destroyed when their species was freed from captivity. They would eventually find themselves going down a set of stone stairs which started to get darker as time continued and it took a very long time too at that. They then saw the large metal door which was revealed by the only light that they saw for a little while. When revealed, it seemed like some kind of home, kind of similar to what they had back home but of course things were so neat and tidy where they came from.

The two Mearisseans were hesitant at first on what was being sprayed on them but it was clear that it was some kind of decontamination agent. Without further ado they would take their suits off giving a breath of relief, the suits were not the most comfortable thing to wear by any means. The features the Two had were really similar to humans but of course with a German Shepherd like head and fur which resembled the same pattern along with a bushy tail and what looked to be casual wear for what was used for flying in higher altitudes. They looked to the cigarettes their noses moving as they took in the variety of smells around, it was all normal for the time being.

"That's a relief to have coming out of those suits." Jeremius would say as Marlene gave a nod as well.

My idea of the Brief timeline goes as follows. Russia loses the war in Ukraine (Very based), and ends up collapsing, as China rushes in and takes over the Russian far east, and Caucasia breaks away from Russia, and China replaces the role of Russia to its allies, and Russia becomes a mere puppet state. EU unites, cool I guess. Colombia rolls a Simon Bolivar larper who has the military skill of Napolean as their leader, and goes on a rampage all across South America. Conveniently Brazil detonates due to the environmental and economic costs of deleting most of the Amazon Rainforest, and all the surrounding nations take bites out of them. India is able to blitz into Pakistan and take it over, along with the rest of its subcontinent including Afghanistan. Canada collapses due to a rebellion of both sentient seals caused by a freak lab experiment and Quebecois, with the rest of Canada being annexed by the US. Mexico is invaded by the US, and loses a bunch of land. Meanwhile the EAF unites, and takes over a bunch of random African states for good measure as well. Israel, spurred on by it's massive population growth, elects a strong man dictator promising to restore Israel to its former ancient glory, and provide more living space for the Israeli people. A bunch of genocide and expansion later, the Israelis are now fighting over Iraq with Iran.

The air inside the room was fresh and cool, almost chilly, unlike the warm weather above the ground, and it was dry. It was almost sterile, with a bitter scent coming from somewhere, but it was faint. Rico put the pack of cigarettes down on a small circular table, probably for eating. It didn't smell like normal tobacco, something was off about it, because it wasn't real tobacco - it was another genetically modified plant that was fairly similar to tobacco. Even at the end of the world, smokers weren't going to lose their addictions easily, and they apparently passed it on to at least Rico.

Rico examined the Mearisseans again. "I've only ever seen two kinds of dogs; the ones in the pictures, and the ones that died in the bunkers. You're... a lot cuter than I'd expect."

She opened one of the closed doors, which was the same metal kind that the entrance door was. Immediately, a breeze of cold air rushed into the room, a mist developing, along with a very strong scent - meat, and a lot of it. It was definitely a storage room of some kind with how much must have been in there. It had several other scents, too, mainly alcohol and cheese - a cellar was nearby too, probably. She entered and soon came back out with three large pieces of what looked like heavily marbled steak that must have been more fat than actual meat in one hand, and a black glass bottle in the other. She brought it to a counter at the kitchen.

"I figured it's customary to feed your guests," she said. "So, how do you like your steaks? Or are you weird vegan dogs?"

The great dig has begun!

“Men you know what the goal here is and I won’t say it is easy. Yet know this, it seems out there is a land where your children might grow without the walls of the complex being their only home and a blue sky to guide them.” Said the team captain as a great undertaking had started. It was not much yet it was one of the great expansions of the complex, a dig using one of the few mining drones available. A dig to establish a way out, a dig to establish a way to a land of wonder.

Scout Drone report #90B

We have identified the potential government as a group calling themselves “Calption” and it seems they are demilitarizing which gives us the sense that either there are threats which we do not know of or that it truly is a safe haven away from all the pain.

The drone also has identified a potential area for what the schematics call a “fortified underground outpost” which will allow us to send out teams to the surface.

The drone will be allowed to continue flying for a few more days as to give us a full coverage of the area in which the outpost shall lay.

Recommend actions:

- Disguise outpost as a walled city?
- Send in teams using some power armor and heavy swords?
- Start sending out scavenger teams and escorted caravans once we’ve made contact?

The Calptionion Truth
------------------------------------------
Lunatics report weird noise and vibrations, concerns dismissed
2354/11/2
Recent reports from frontier farmers, the backbone of the Calptionion agricultural industry talk about wired noises they heard during the night. When people were sent in to investigate, nothing special was found. Such reports will be ignored in the future, as more likely or not, it would just be a pack of wild animals making the noise. At most, if the animals end up encroaching on our property, we will have a shiny opportunity to test the stocks pre Third European Cataclysm, however, in all likelihood, just a hit squad equipped with a few rifles would do. However, such measures would be over the top, and we would just be better off ignoring it and continuing on like nothing happened. In order to discourage such false reporting in the future, the farmers wages were reduced by 800 Zimbabwe dollars for this month. Such government attention is desperately needed in other places, like the construction of a new train way connecting the entire country together, not a bunch of ill constructed rumors that have no basis in reality whatsoever. Meanwhile, the new rations created by the Doppio giudici food ministry has been a massive hit all across Calption, and the government seeks to either sign a new extensive contract with them, or heavily modify the existing one to be bigger. Also another piece of good news, the Calptionion government's coffers is experiencing a fullness never sawn before. With the removal of the military, plenty of money is freed up, and the money not used is put in a storage facility for both investment and as a back up in case of national emergency.

Rico took a cast iron skillet from the cabinet and turned on the stove, which was of the induction kind. Fossil fuels like gas were rare, so most things were connected to a central electricity grid instead of any actual fuel. She poured in some oil, which sizzled, and seasoned a steak with salt and pepper before putting it in to be cooked.

"All the animals you saw up there are my livestock - that is to say, I'm a farmer and I make these. Besides plants, I raise cows, pigs, goats, or, rather, the animals based off them that our creators left us with, and I make artisan products out of what I get from them," she said, smiling back. "I ferment wine and cheese, too. I'm somewhat of a gastronome, secluded on the surface here alone and absorbed in my work - I'm one of the few Reneans working on stuff like this. Yes, Renea, that's what our little country's called - say, where are you from anyway? I can guess it's a lot different from here."

The steaks were done cooking after a short while and were plated, cooked as requested. Rico opened a wooden box that was sitting on the counter, which was full of ice, and she pulled out a large salmon, its scent having been obscured by the ice. She put it on a cutting board and began to prepare it while talking.

The two looked to the skillet and the other ingredients that were being pulled out and placed being ready. The one thing that was interesting to them was that there was electricity the whole time they were there. Electricity wasn't common in most places they've been use to seeing that was outside of their own technology.

"Well we came from our lands called Mearisse, all of our people are what me and my college are. We were built by humans before all this happened and we were the ones that survived. We killed the rest that were down below, they did bad things and we weren't going to live with it any longer. We come from what's known as alaska, only a section of it though. We mostly live underground but we were left with a lot of technology from our creators. I'm sure you could tell by the helicopter that we weren't from around here."

Jeremius said as hesniffed smelling the smells of the spices and cooked beef was always pleasing, even more than Rico could smell probably, the senses almost echoed in their heads. Marlene then looked to the box that was on the counter which was a mystery. Even stranger it was full of ice which was rare in these parts surely but there was a salmon in there. Almost all fish that came from the waters where they were from were contaminated by radiation so eating those were out of question.

"Where did you manage to find one of those not tainted?" She said.

Rico listened to them talk about their homeland, nodding without adding anything. It seems like the two had pretty similar origins, minus the fact that the Mearisseans seemed to have it a lot worse with their creators. She cut the salmon meat neatly, making a flower pattern with the thin slices.

"If by tainted you mean by radiation, well, they're pretty tainted, but the ocean didn't get directly hit for the most part, so ocean fish can continue to live - for us, since we're pretty resistant to radiation, we can tolerate the amount that's in here. It's pretty common for some to go out to sea for a few months at a time, out to the middle of the pacific or something, to fish for anything that's safe to eat. I get seafood delivered regularly, although I never know what's in these boxes - they sent me a bunch of live crabs once," she said, grimacing at the memory of dealing with a box of live crabs. "One of my friends wanted to start salmon farming back up. I think the rivers are getting clean enough for that. Hey, you're from Alaska right? Maybe you should try fishing in deeper waters. Might get something edible, if it lived deep enough."

Rico indeed didn't think much of the spices, as they weren't particularly special for her, and she couldn't beat the senses of a dog anyway. She poured the wine into some cups, which were made of wood instead of the typical glass, and were more like mugs than wine glasses.

"Better eat your steaks while they're hot. After that, well, I'd like to know a lot more about your home, and I'm sure you do too, about mine. Hmm, maybe we can visit the main city later."
