The radio programme Test Match Special has, over the years, produced some howlers by the commentators that not only reduced the commentary box to howling laughter but the whole country.

My favourite was from Brian Johnston when the English batsman Peter Willey was facing up to the West Indian quick bowler Michael Holding.

“The bowler’s Holding, the batsman’s Willey.”
