Overview of The World Assembly

The World Assembly (WA) is a NationStates voluntary game feature. It acts as NationStates' version of the United Nations.

The World Assembly manages two councils: the General Assembly, and the Security Council. The General Assembly is responsible for international law. And the Security Council is responsible for recognizing nations or regions, and taking action when necessary.

In the General Assembly, if a proposal is passed, its effects apply to all WA Member nations by adjusting your nation's world census rankings. For example if a proposal relating to International Aid is passed, you may notice your Foreign Aid census increase.

In the Security Council, there are five types of proposals you'll see.

Commendations and Condemnations which seek to recognize a nation or regions's in-character actions. For nations this could relate to anything like Role-playing, World Census Statistics, Region Development, Commanding a regional military, Raiding and Defending (R/D), Successfully authoring General Assembly and/or Security Council resolutions, Writing Issues. And for regions it could include notible accomplishments, specific role-playing, foreign affairs, and participation in R/D.

Liberations and Injections which affect a region's security for the better or the worst depending on the intentions. Both are primarily used by the R/Ding community.

Liberations are used to remove a password and/or prevent one from being set by the target region's WA Delegate. Depending on the scenario this can prevent a region from being permanently destroyed or to make the region vulnerable to invading militaries.

Injections are used to prevent a region's transition to a different type.

Declarations which are used to comment on a specific topic.

And finally Repeals, used to render a previously passed resolution null and void. Repeals can be used in both councils.

When a proposal is at vote, WA Member nations can cast their vote to either vote For or Against. WA Delegates have the advantage of more voting power depending on their amount of endorsements. Which is one reason we recommend you join.

Voting on a proposal in any council takes approximately 4 days (96 hours).


Endorsements

Endorsements is a way to recognize a nation for something they did. Most commonly this is used by regions to elect a WA Delegate, regional security, and influence gain.


WA Delegate and Updates

Everyday there's a twice daily update, where every region and nation "updates." While covering just what's related to the World Assembly, two neat things occur when a region and nation updates.

A WA Delegate can be elected to whoever has the most endorsements in that region at the time of updating.

Influence is generated. And is heavily boosted from endorsements. Influence is basically how influential you are in the region, making it much harder for invading forces to eject or ban you.


Raiding and Defending

To keep this short, Raiding and Defending is the NationStates version of war. In some regions the WA Delegate has executive permissions enabled, which means they effectively have full control over the region. Invading forces can utilize this to invade an enemy region.


That Sounds Neat. Are there any benefits to my nation or region?

Absolutely! There's quite a few actually.

1. Citizenship! Citizenship allows you to participate in our regional government.

2. You can enlist into our  Armed Forces!

3. You get a sweet WA Member badge to show off.

4. A banner you can display (by enabling it in your  Banner Settings) for joining.

5. Eventually you'll unlock another banner when you're being endorsed by six or more WA Members.

6. Two world census statistics that will increase by endorsing fellow WA Members.

A. The first and easiest census statistic is  WA Endorsements, representing the number of nations endorsing your nation.

B. And the second census is  Influence. Which increases every update and is boosted by WA Endorsements.

7. You can submit proposals, and potentially author your very own!

8. An at-home feeling of knowing you're contributing to the growth and security to The Great Storm.
