Important Claiming Information:

Claims must be reasonable enough to be put onto the map. Beginner nations should follow the claiming guide above to make their claim.
Picky is good. Feel free to request changes to borders if you aren't happy with them.
This map's planet is larger than the size of Earth, so we won't be making the map any bigger. If Earth can fit 200 nations, so can ours.
We are not adding new territory to the map. Use the existing land more efficiently and we won't need any more.
Claims cannot be on Glacea nor on any body of water.
Returning roleplayers are allowed to keep 90% of the size of their old land, and 100% of land they got by writing for an expansion.

Nations will be removed from the map if they are not in The North Pacific or if they have ceased to exist (when a nation dies after 28 days of inactivity).
While our official rules state you must post every 30 days, in reality we only check if you have posted within 30 days every 10 updates (70 days). You will also be notified by an RMB ping before you are removed.
If you would like a temporary break from the map but want to keep your nation, you may ask a cartographer for a hiatus. A hiatus longer than two weeks requires a reason.

For questions reagrding claiming expansions or secondary nations, please ask a cartographer or refer to the rules document above.
Every pixel on the map has a side length of exactly 5.04 km, and has an area of exactly 25.4016 km².

The staff updates the map once a week, every Saturday. Any claims sent in beyond noon in the eastern U.S. on that Saturday will be added on the next map.

We loved it when it was first released and it became a firm favourite of ours.

I always sing it to her. 🤣

When we were in Benidorm we went to see a Bruno Mars tribute act, they were brilliant!

When the guy started to sing this song, we of course joined in the singing, he gave us an appreciative nod and smile, put the microphone to us and clapped.

That was a great memory and we try and see the act whenever we're there.

Foreword

Welcome to the 50th Edition of The North Pacific Vision Song Contest!

Before I dive into a world of nostalgia, I would like to thank Petronellania for hosting a wonderful show last edition! It was fantastically organised. The previous edition was won by Ihese.

For newcomers, TNPV is a music competition inspired by Eurovision where you vote for your favourite songs! Basically, you send in a song, listen to everyone else's entries, rank your top 15 favourite songs and wait for the host to announce the winner of the contest! Details on how to participate, how to vote and the rules of the competition, can be found further down in this dispatch. I am The Democratic Kingdom Of Skaraborg and will be hosting this edition. Feel free too reach out to me with any questions you have!

A moment of reflection

Eight. That was the number of participants when the first edition of TNPV was held. I was one of them. I still remember following that edition live on the rmb as if it were yesterday. The build-up, the execution, the aftermath—everything about that contest still draws a smile to my face. There have certainly been contests with higher quality: better songs, better graphics, and other fantastic memories. But none do I remember as vividly as the first one. I fell in love with something that day and that love still remains.

It does not feel like the first edition was 50 editions ago. Reflecting on how TNPV has evolved and progressed into such a memorable and fantastic event truly warms my heart. The journey has not been straightforward; the contest has hit both highs and lows. However, there has always been dedicated and committed individuals behind the contest, allowing us to reach where we are today. TNPV now regularly attracts over 30 participants and the record for one edition stands at an impressive 67 participants. An outstanding achievment considering it all started with just eight people.

I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved and I am grateful to be a part of this journey. Here's to the next 50 editions being just as bright!

Rules and Information

What is TNPV?

The North Pacific Vision is a song contest inspired by the Eurovision Song Contest. We use the same score system, the winner gets to host and so on, just like the Eurovision. Basically, you telegram your song to the host and vote for your favourite songs in the competition. The song which gets the most points wins the song contest and the winning nation gets to host the next edition! Down below you'll find essential information to be able to participate.

How To Participate:

To enter the contest, you must telegram The Democratic Kingdom Of Skaraborg using the participation form below.

Before telegramming your song, make sure the song and your nation applies to the rules found below the participation form. Deadline day for entering the contest is 8th September. There is no limit of number of contestants.

He fired again, his bullets finding their mark. The Messerschmitt shuddered, pieces of its tail tearing away like confetti in the wind. Marcus watched, a mix of satisfaction and horror, as the enemy plane spun out of control, plummeting towards the sea below. He didn't have time to dwell on it, though, as more bandits approached, drawn to the fight like sharks to blood in the water.

The air was a maelstrom of chaos, planes swirling in a dance of death. Marcus' breathing was ragged in his oxygen mask as he pushed Bessie to her limits. He could feel the sweat building up under his flying helmet, despite the cold. His eyes remained glued to the horizon, searching for the next threat.

The radio burst with life again, "Break right! More bandits incoming!" Marcus reacted instinctively, his body moving before the words had fully registered in his brain. He saw the glint of the sun off the wings of another Messerschmitt, barrelling towards them. This time, the enemy was more cautious, keeping his distance.

Marcus' pulse raced as he locked onto the new threat. The Spitfires had their own battles to fight, and the Hurricanes were now on their own. He knew that his plane was not as nimble as the Spitfire, but it had its own advantages - resilience and firepower. He had to be smart, use his machine guns wisely.
