ETYMOLOGY
岩 (Read as Iwa in Hilontian and Yán in Cofrusian) means 'rock' and 渡 (Read as Wataru in Hilontian and Dù in Cofrusian) means 'to cross over a body of water' in Hilontian and Cofrusian languages. So 岩渡 (Read as Iwatari in Hilontian and Yándù in Cofrusian) means 'a rock that crosses a body of water'. That's because there is a legend here about a powerful man who created a stone bridge that connects the land on both sides of the river.
ETHNICITY
江西 (Read as Kōsei in Hilontian, means 'West of the River') is Hilontian half in western side of the river. 江東 (Read as Jiāngdōng in Cofrusian, means 'East of the River') is Cofrusian half in eastern side of the river.
