The Golden Era

In the decades after the Great Crisis, the People's Republic continued to prosper. Technological advancement and economic modernization proceeded at a rapid pace. Economic growth and rapidly improving living standards vaulted the People's Republic into the upper echelon of the major industrial powers. Taking advantage of the development of the information technology boom, the state invested heavily in the development of information technology and computerization, the service and technology sectors growing rapidly during the last two decades of Chairman Vallance's rule. Internally, some social restrictions were relaxed, political restrictions eased slightly, and limited expressions of dissent with the Communist Party were not suppressed. Although Cedoria remained a one-party state and continued to arrest real dissidents, the Party itself became more vigorous in promoting anti-corruption campaigns and accountability of government officials.

In foreign policy, this was when the People's Republic of Cedoria truly became a Great Power in its own right. Without the need for relying on a more powerful benefactor, the People's Republic greatly expanded its own power and diplomatic influence. With the disappearance of the Soviet Union long a reality, the People's Republic became the leading source of aid, economic ties and military protection for many socialist states, as well as the leading sponsor of socialist revolutionary groups in key parts of the world. It also remained heavily involved in international institutions like the World Assembly, where it pushed for more stringent environmental protections as well as great levels of social equality, although it continued to resist WA pushes for political democratization as well as voting against initiatives that interfered with the sovereign state's right to choose how to defend itself.

With the growth of the services and non-manufacturing sectors, Cedoria became more culturally influential, Cedorian State-Owned Enterprises gained a larger market share in nations abroad (particularly countries that were aligned with Cedoria), and huge increases in the average wealth of Cedorian citizens. The continued functioning of it's socialist economy and egalitarian wealth distribution ensured it avoided the social dislocation resulting from widespread income inequality in other nations.
