Balaton is a very big lake, Central Europe's biggest! You can even fish in it! It is located in Hungary.

Lake Balaton is a lake in Hungary that is very popular in not just Hungary but in Europe, it's a lake in what we refer to as "Transdanubia". It's a popular destination for Hungarians to see historical sights, or to be around one of the many picnic areas around the Balaton Uplands National Park which is over 56,997 hectares in land area. Lake Balaton is near to the city of Veszprém in the aptly named Veszprém County.

If you search Wikipedia, there are tons of beautiful vistas around Hungary to see for curious tourists or expats wanting to connect back to their country of origin such as:
Bükk National Park
Danube-Drava National Park
Cathedral of Pécs
Országgyűlés (National Assembly of Hungary) in Buda (or Budapest)
Buda Castle
Kossuth Lajos Tér or Lajos Kossuth Square (in Buda/Budapest)
Mosque of Yakovalı Hasan Pasha (in Pécs)
Széchenyi Square and other locales I'd reccomend but would take too much to write on my keyboard.

Hungary has a lot of natural and man-made wonders, one is the fact Hungary was the first European country in the Soviet bloc to dissolve their side of the Iron Curtain in the border with Austria.

Hungary is also one of the few countries around the world with not just visa free entry to the United States but also to China.

I can’t think of anything special about my country that people don’t already know about. 😅

Honestly there is too much things about Hungary people don't know about that if I wrote a book, it'd never finish. 😅

Hey everyone! I hope you're having a great weekend! I had a headache and low energy yesterday, so I'm catching up on some stuff today. Outside of Wintreath, I've also started putting together my thoughts on how to fight hate and extremism...we live in times where those are rampant, and I have some ideas about what contributes to it and how to better fight it. It'll be a work on progress as I have time and new ideas to add to it, but someday I may show what I've collected to people. :)

In the meantime, we've had new and returning nations since I last posted! Welcome to Bluelm, Deonysivshchyna, Aelithar (I love how regal your flag looks!), Ardonin, and Batianingtoplest! I'm glad you joined up with us, and hope that you enjoy being part of our region! If you feel comfortable, please introduce yourself and let us know what made you decide to join Wintreath. We'd love to hear from you. :)

I have to run some errands now, but will reply back to everything on here when I get back

Yscen wrote:Howdy, Yscen is based off of a northern baton in my DND campaign called "Autumnia". The name was taken so I went to their naming conventions and found one that could work as a nation name: "Yscen" which means "From/Of Ice". I joined Wintreath because I liked the name, am new to the game, and I just like how it was advertised! :D

That's really cool! I remember it took some time to come up with the name Wintreath, so it's always good to hear when someone likes it. Same with our recruitment telegram! :D

I played my first DnD-like RP last autumn and I really enjoyed it, even though I'm still very much a newb at it. That's impressive that you're running a campaign!

In your poll, I pick blue to match my eyes...and a couple of my guitars.

I voted for pumpkin in yours, maybe because I'm a little burned out on apples at the moment and I haven't had any of the other pies.

A couple of guitars? Do you play a lot of music with them?

Union of Danubian States wrote:Doing fine, thank you! ^_^

I'll be in Lake Balaton meaning I could be less active because my parents wanted to have a good end to our mid-period week off as it's Friday and I wanted some time off from taking care of the coffee shop. Otherwise, I did mostly maintenance for my 2002 Toyota Corolla. :D

This region also seems very welcoming, thank you for the official welcome.

Coffee shop? That sounds fun...is it like how they show it on Youtube where it's relaxed and soothing? I'm going to guess not...but it's still a nice fantasy. I hope you enjoy your time at the lake (or enjoyed if you've already been). It's fine to be less active for a time...we all do it, and we're pretty go with the flow around here. :)

Afternote: I see in later replies you had already gone, and I'm glad you had a great time :D

I'm glad you're enjoying Wintreath so far!

So another day in NationStates. You haven't really done anything in NS until you've been accused of abusing your powers :P

I think at this point there's very little I *haven't* been accused of throughout Wintreath's history. v_v

I've seen the attacks on TV. People, let us make one distinction, the people of Iran are not the government of Iran, likewise the people of Israel are not the government of Israel.

I pray for an easy process of peace, talk and discussion between Israel, the Hamas government and Iran. How much blood, how many mosques and churches have to be levelled before there is peace?

I do indeed play a lot of music with them. I play guitar and sing for a 60s rock band, Beach St. A Go Go. We have our first show of the year next Friday. Look us up on Facebook, YouTube, or www.beachstagogo.com. Come on out to The Poppy Festival in Lancaster, California April 19. We'll be on the main stage from 6:30-8:00.

My time at Balaton was wonderful! It's as pristine, clean and preserved as I remember it being. As for the coffee shop, it's not Café Leblanc from Persona 5 or that café from Gran Turismo 7 but it's one cozy place for studying, research for my Toyota to look up what parts and performance mods would be most viable for it on the road while conserving it's road legal status aswell as when to study music sheetnotes for my school choir whenever we have a national holiday that requires me to play violin at choir.

While the coffee shop is not something straight out of anime or video games, it's my little piece of heaven, besides home of course.
