After all, it'd be a game and the most important thing about a game are it's rules.

We used to have stricter rules, but we've been having a lot more fun without them. The people that actually want to participate don't cause problems, and people causing problems end up stopping once they realize nobody cares

Like rules as in no godmodding or something more specific?

The Empire of Future Mankind

I thought  of the usual 'be respectful' stuff, but also  guidelines about the characters one is playing and most importantly the tone of the storie we want to tell.
So after all, maybe some guidelines, but nothing too serious.

I find the best rule for two people interacting within RP is mutual consent, anything is fine so long as everyone affected is okay with it. People who aggressively want to wage war often don't get to under this system, but they want to wage war to conquer others and have a feeling of power over them. The problem with that is it requires someone to be their victim as not everyone can be a powerful conqueror. Being forced into defeat is a major turnoff. Mutual consent on the other hand still has war, but the war is to tell a story. The vast majority of the time both sides come away happy, because they're not fighting a war to dominate, they're fighting to tell a story

Also, what should I do if I don’t have discord, but wish to apply to be the delegate?

You can apply here on wintreath's forums too: https://wintreath.com/forums/index.php?topic=8170.0
Just make a post stating you'd like to be in the running for the delegacy

The Republic of Nebriana

I think running for delegate would be cool but I'm pretty new to the region so I probably wouldn't represent us very well.

The Empire of Future Mankind

Same, also i'm very lazy

The Republic of Nebriana

The way I could see it going is: I run, have a good time, then on the off chance that I win, I'd probably have no clue what to do

I'd definitely recommend having a good understanding of NSGP before being delegate

Funny thing is that I don't know what the GP means in this context lol

Geopolitics maybe?

NSGP = NationStates gameplay

Gameplay is a term that refers to a number of things from the World Assembly to r/d, basically everything that has to do with interregional politics

The Democratic Republic of ALHORRA

Hey im new, does anyone have any advice on how to better my civil rights, they keep getting worse. :SOB:

The Republic of Nebriana

I'm the same way but with my economy lol

The Democratic Republic of ALHORRA

my economy is good but my civil rights are horrible

The Republic of Nebriana

Try avoiding options that involve arresting people or banning something common.

From my little time playing going with the options that sound like what a good democratic nation should do will probably increase civil rights, if it sounds like what a money hungry CEO would say will probably increase economy.

One thing to keep in mind is that civil rights is 'freedom to' and not 'freedom from'
If you were to take the US and a generic western european country and turn them into a nationstates nation I'd place my bet on the US having a higher civil rights stat just because of how the site works

There is also a site to get the results of issues (not exact just the max and min possible change) if you want to do that, but that kinda takes the fun out of issues

The Democratic Meritocracy of Aportistopireistan

The Republic of Nebriana

The issue results seem a bit extreme at times too lol, like you choose the option to add more maintenance to planes and all of the sudden planes are being delayed because of the inspector not liking the color.

I'm doing good thanks for asking sometimes you just need to think about the day or week as a hole to realize your having a good day

I don’t really know. I’m normal, I guess. Thanks for asking right back

I definitely agree with that
