Merciful Father, hear our prayer and console us As we renew our faith in your Son, whom you raised from the dead. Strengthen our hope that all our departed brothers and sisters will share in His resurrection, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit One God, forever and ever. Amen.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace.
We ask for blessings on all those who have served their country in the armed forces. We ask for healing for the veterans who have been wounded, in body and soul, in conflicts around the globe. We pray especially for the young men and women, in the thousands, who are coming home from Iraq with injured bodies and traumatized spirits.
Give us all the creative vision to see a world which, grown weary with fighting, Moves to affirming the life of every human being and so moves beyond war. Hear our prayer, O Prince of Peace, hear our prayer. Amen.
Thank you, Father, for having created us and given us to each other in the human family. Thank you for being with us in all our joys and sorrows, for your comfort in our sadness, your companionship in our loneliness. Thank you for yesterday, today, tomorrow and for the whole of our lives. Thank you for friends, for health and for grace. May we live this and every day conscious of all that has been given to us.
God of love, Father of all, the darkness that covered the earth has given way to the bright dawn of your Word made flesh. Make us a people of this light. Make us faithful to your Word, that we may bring your life to the waiting world. Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Lord, You make all things new. You bring hope alive in our hearts And cause our Spirits to be born again. Thank you for this new year For all the potential it holds. Come and kindle in us A mighty flame So that in our time, many will see the wonders of God And live forever to praise Your glorious name. Amen
Lord God, I give you thanks, for you are good, and your mercy is endless. Here I stand, at the start of this holy week, This week in which your church remembers Jesus’ passion and death,
And I am distracted by many things. Turn my eyes now to the One who comes in your name The one who opens the gates of righteousness The one who answers when we call.
I bless you, Lord, for shining your light upon me, And for sending your son to us, in human frailty. To walk the road we walk. Open my eyes that I may see him coming,
And may praise him with a pure heart. And may walk in the way of his suffering, And share also in his resurrection. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.
Almighty God, who through your only‑begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord’s resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by your life‑giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
In this month of June, traditionally associated with the Sacred Heart, I think it would be really appropriate to pray the litany of the Sacred Heart for the intentions Cirath mentioned.
Here's a beautiful prayer taken from the Customary of Our Lady of Walsingham: O Lord Jesu Christ, Son of the living God, who didst come down from heaven to earth from the bosom of the Father, and didst bear five wounds on the cross, and didst pour forth thy precious blood for the remission of our sins: we humbly beseech thee that at the day of judgment we may be set at thy right hand, and hear from thee that most comfortable word, Come, ye blessed into my Father's kingdom; who livest and reignest with the Father in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Oh Almighty God, whose great power and eternal wisdom embraces the universe. Watch over all policemen and law enforcement officers. Father in Heaven please give them the strength, courage and perseverance to endure The unjust condemnation, danger, and physical abuse to which they are at times subjected. We recommend them to your loving care because their duty is dangerous. Dear God, grant these brave men your almighty protection, Unite them safely with their families after duty has ended. Amen.
Tomorrow, 3 July, is the feast of the apostle Thomas. He didn't believe Christ had risen until he actually saw him and was able to touch his wounds. We believe... without seeing. And one day, we hope to come unto that everlasting joy, when we will see God.
Lord Jesus Christ, Thomas believed after seeing You and afterwards proclaimed your Gospel to those who hadn't seen You. We believe that You are present in the Eucharist with your Body and Blood, even if the only things we see appear to be bread and wine. Strengthen our faith and grant that after our death, we may see You, our Redeemer, in Heaven. We ask this through the intercession of Saint Thomas. Amen.
Gracious and loving God, Let your Spirit be with us today. Hear our prayers, and increase in us the will to follow your Son Jesus. Help us to draw on the resources of our faith as we use the opportunities of our democracy to shape a society more respectful of the life, dignity, and rights of the human person, especially the poor and vulnerable. We ask this through Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
I have returned because they banished me to the Rejected Realms. I posted a note about this in the Realms and hopefully some of their WA nations will try to save South Pacific.
