𝗠𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗡𝗲𝗯𝗼
On that same day the Lord told Moses, ‘Go up into the Abarim Range to Mount Nebo in Moab, opposite Jericho, and view Canaan, the land I am giving the Israelites as their own possession. There on the mountain that you have climbed you will die and be gathered to your people, just as your brother Aaron died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people. This is because both of you broke faith with me in the presence of the Israelites at the waters of Meribah Kadesh in the Desert of Zin and because you did not uphold my holiness among the Israelites. Therefore, you will see the land only from a distance; you will not enter the land I am giving to the people of Israel.’

𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: because you did not uphold my holiness among the Israelites.

When I opened the bible, I saw this after skimming around the pages of Pentateuch. I thought about writing about what sickness I see in the Church, but then had a better idea when I included one part of the Martyrology for no reason. So I guess I could merge the two, and my message now is, this. Moses died before setting foot on Canaan. Moses, although favoured by God and to whom He revealed His Face, by one fault was unable to be worthy of the promises. Ain't that scary, if we think about ourselves. But in the justice of God, all praise due to wisdom, because we're the one who sins.

The sickness of the Church, that I find, is us we: you and me. That is in a way like Moses, failed to radiate and magnify God. One of the points I wanted to make was, the reason people are failing to go to church—worship and pray—is because the very Church people are not living to the dignity of the name of Christ in our being CHRISTians. I forgot if it was saint James who wrote in his letters that religion is dead without action. There are better atheists or non-CHRISTians compared to Christians. And this is the sickness that isn't seen on anyone, but ourselves. We should look at ourselves more than others, but without despair.

Moses died, and it is the fate of us all, as an effect of that disobedience of Adam and Eve. So did Christ, in His great Godhood took by humility the lowly manhood, and died. We could think that death is a way to heaven. That its gates are the bodily mortal death. I remember reading somewhere that as we have a mortal body on earth, so in death do we take an immortal body like Christ. So we must hold on to these when we are tried. But also, before dying and meeting Christ, even if we have faults, let us live Christ in us, guided by the Spirit. Practice temperance, love, pray and remain far away from sin, and most of all use our minds and conscience, by applying how Jesus is and what He teaches, we may uphold the holiness of God.

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: I remember if it was Saint Augustine that said, (non-verbatim) "singing is praying twice". Here is a beautiful Anglican hymn, Abide with Me. 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲.

New American Bible (Revised Edition) (NABRE)

Wash yourselves clean!
Put away your misdeeds from before my eyes;
cease doing evil;
learn to do good.
Make justice your aim: redress the wronged,
hear the orphan’s plea, defend the widow.
Come now, let us set things right,
says the LORD:

Though your sins be like scarlet,
they may become white as snow;
Though they be red like crimson,
they may become white as wool.
If you are willing, and obey,
you shall eat the good things of the land;
But if you refuse and resist,
you shall be eaten by the sword:
for the mouth of the LORD has spoken!

𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken!

Some days ago, I read the Canon of Repentance to the Theotokos by Saint Theodore the Studite (+826). There was one line that struck me: 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘸𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘩, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘰 𝘥𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 (Ode 6, Stanza 3). We have to look into ourselves, and remember that God gets angry too. Jesus got angry at the temple, when they made it a market place. It is said that our bodies are a temple, and so when we desecrate ourselves with pleasure, then we anger God too.

When I think about God's anger, I feel like it's not because we did the wrong thing only. I believe it's because we did the wrong thing and the effect of it on us is vicariously painful and saddening. For example, when a child does something wrong and injures himself, there are parents that are angry because they are worried about what the effect would be. So when we sin, we injure ourselves and lose grace, and the effect of Sin is worrisome and as the loving Father, Brother, and Advocate God is, they do not want anything wrong to happen to us.

But the reading today reminds us to set things right. We can be made clean, made pure, made full with grace, when we do good and loving things. "Cease doing evil," today's reading says, "learn to do good." Let us learn from the example of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, the charity of service towards the sick and the dying, even to the point of himself dying for others.

He laid down his life for his brothers.
– 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦. 𝘈𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘭𝘶𝘪𝘢, 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘭𝘶𝘪𝘢.

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: Saint John Chrysostom tells us to not mourn our sins and despair, but renew ourselves daily, like a house. And that we should never cease doing good and loving acts, penances and true contriteness, and above all a connection to God through prayer and thought. 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲.

O Lord of glory, O God of infinite sanctity, who am I that Thou shouldst deign to come to me! "The heavens are not pure in Thy sight," and wilt Thou dwelt in my heart? "Lord! I am not worthy that Thou shouldst enter under my roof." The consciousness of my unworthiness would prompt me to exclaim, "Depart from me, O Lord, for I am a sinner," but Thy pressing invitation to approach Thy Holy Table encourages me and dispels all my fears. "here I am for Thou didst call me." Come, then, O Jesus, take possession of a heart that wishes to belong to Thee. "Create a clean heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." "Have mercy on me, O God, and according to the multitude of Thy tender mercies, blot out my iniquity." [Psalm 1:3]

𝗠𝘆 𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹,
pray for me.
Safeguard me from the devil and evil,
and lead me towards heaven with you.
Amen.

New International Version - UK (NIVUK)

𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲
Now the Philistines fought against Israel; the Israelites fled before them, and many fell dead on Mount Gilboa. The Philistines were in hot pursuit of Saul and his sons, and they killed his sons Jonathan, Abinadab and Malki-Shua. The fighting grew fierce around Saul, and when the archers overtook him, they wounded him.

Saul said to his armour-bearer, ‘Draw your sword and run me through, or these uncircumcised fellows will come and abuse me.’

But his armour-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it. When the armour-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he too fell on his sword and died. So Saul and his three sons died, and all his house died together.

𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: and all his house died together.

Lately I've been going to online mass at the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham in Torquay. I'm not an English resident, but I was curious about the Anglican Liturgy. It was beautiful, and above. My newfound friend—well versed in liturgy—told me that it is called “sense of the sacred„. And I thought that was something that completely sums up my feelings.

Anyway, I excluded the about the saints because it'd be redundant. These two saints are a symbol of English Catholic dissidents, one who at the time of the protestant reformation, former King Henry VIII when he proclaimed the sov'reign monarch ("the crown") is head of the church of England. These two opposed that idea, being loyal to the Catholic faith. I think there are marriages involved with the king's idea of secession from Rome, but I have no idea about that yet. We have two kings today, one in Today's Readings and another on Today's Saints. These kings have one thing in common, that is to do what they willeth. Saul was greatly admonished by the prophet Samuel in his time, and so was Henry VIII.

I have nothing against Anglicans, and I think they are neat, but I also want to say something to both Anglicans and Catholics, and to all the Christians whatever denomination you may be. To love God, means giving up yourself for God. We are like a vessel, but unlike any kind of machine we have a choice of actually doing what is right and not. This is redundant of me to say it again, but I think it's something we have to continue to repeat in our minds.

Tomorrow is the Solemnity of the Birthday of Saint John the Baptist, and he the simplest man, the least but greatest in heaven and earth did say, "I must decrease and He must increase." Let us reflect upon ourselves these questions: Have we decreased? How can we decrease more to magnify the greatness of the Lord?

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: Truly a waste of a good life for Saul and his family because of following His cowardness. Also a waste of good wives of King Henry VIII, because of his pride and incontinences, and most of all misogyny of only having a "male" heir. 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲.

Saint Joseph, blessed are you Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
You humbled yourself to follow the will of God,
and became a wonderful father to our humble little brother; the lamb, the bridegroom.
Help us to be like you, a vessel in salvation with Christ.
And as perils and temptations come by us,
pray for us that we may never forget that we have an intercessor and spiritual father to the Father in heaven.
Pray for us, a divided Church, especially for the relations of the Anglican and Catholic church,
that the body of Christ be one, united in love, strengthened by the Spirit, proclaiming one faith in courage amidst trials.

𝗧𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗢 𝗕𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗵, we have recourse to You too. For having the honour of being joined to the hearts of Mary and Jesus, we know that Your intercession is powerful too. Hear our prayers and protect us with Saint Michael the Archangel. For You are regarded as the Protector of the Church as once You have protected Jesus from mortal danger of Herod. Intercede for us, and by sacred trust, faith, and hope in You, we know that our prayers are heard with the Blessed Mother Your spouse. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀,

Here is an interesting question: is there such thing as economic centralism as far as I know there are far more economical positions that political. It is very unclear to me what economic centralism can mean especially as economies are constantly changing and uncertainty is a major factor. In economics to understand economic policy we say “all things being equal” but in reality noting is equal or straightforwardly comparable. I am curious on what your perspective is on economic positions are. Btw I change my economic position every month. I still can’t claim to hold the right answer but your thoughts interest me.

Interesting point.

I think it does fit in to economics. To me it would be more straddling the line between conservative and progressive agendas and being against any idea that is viewed as radically one way or the other.

I think the term “centralist” gets thrown around a lot when people are more apathetic to either economic or social issues. It’s ok to not have strong opinions about certain policies, but people always want to know where we stand so centralist sounds better.

Peronist. A national and popular movement born in Argentina in the 40's from the leadership of General Juan Domingo Perón and his wife, Eva Duarte de Perón. The movement was characterized by the inclusion in the political life of people excluded at that time (lower classes, rural workers and industrial workers), the expansion of social, labor and welfare state rights and the industrialization of the country.

Perón had a motto: neither Marxist nor capitalist. Not everything for the worker, not everything for the boss. The only possible alternative is the creation of a national bourgeoisie concerned with the interests and welfare of the Nation, within the framework of a class alliance and not a class struggle. For this reason, in the economic field, I consider myself in favor of a mixed economy with state interventions where there are market failures (monopolies, for example) and active state participation in natural resources or strategic areas (energy, mining, food industry, among others). All this, always favoring private initiative as much as possible within the framework of a tax system that does not stifle production and investment.

Socially, I am a liberal and in favor of the expansion of civil and political rights as broad as possible. Although I may not personally be in favor of any of them (for example, abortion), I believe in a secular, democratic, republican and federal State.
