The Republic of Laeden

Hello guys. As promised, and as an attempt to breathe further life into our regional RP, I started a Collaboration Thread for us to discuss the First Argean War. Before jumping in there, I highly recommend taking a look at Dormill and Stiura's dispatch. I believe Solaryia, Wellsia, Keomora, Jeriga, Razzgriz, Veldhaven and Roendavar will be directly interested in this affair. I hope to see y'all there, helping to build an exciting new story.

A little dispatch outlining some info on the South Argean ‘Peeping Fox,’ which is based on the IRL Cape Fox of southern Africa. I published it before regaining access to a computer though, so I will likely reformat it soon in the wiki style and hopefully expand/complete it.

The Order of Saint Melina
.

Orders of Saint Jimenez (O.S.J.)

Order of Saint Melina

Headquarters:
Del Agua, San Jimenez

Founder: Saint Melina

Religious Affiliation: Catholic Church

About the Order of Saint Melina

The Order of Saint Melina is a Catholic religious order for women that is based in Del Agua, San Jimenez. It is the female religious order of the Orders of Saint Jimenez (O.S.J.). The order was founded around the time that the apparition of Our Lady of Del Agua took place. It was founded by Saint Melina, a close friend of Saint Jimenez. While Saint Jimenez's followers emphasized the importance of spreading the Gospel and building the Catholic Church on the island, Saint Melina and her followers emphasized the importance of serving those they encountered where they were. She and her followers, accompanying Saint Jimenez, would establish missions in Pagan strongholds on the island where they would educate and administer to those they encountered.

Because of the order's history and its operations today, it is most known for its charitableness and willingness to administer wherever they are needed. The order does not discriminate and serves non-Catholic communities throughout the Isles. Currently, the order is organized as a religious institution under the jurisdiction of the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Del Agua.

Traditional O.S.J. religious habit

Today, the Order of Saint Melina is tasked with serving those entrusted to their care. These missions include setting up soup kitchens, managing and aiding in hospitals, managing nursing homes, operating schools, and operating homes for orphaned children. Simply, the order is dedicated to sacrificing its time and energy for the betterment of those who need assistance. Social service initiatives have been at the forefront of the order's operations in San Jimenez and abroad. A more modern operation that has been assumed by the order is the operation of pregnancy centers as an alternative option for those seeking to have an abortion.

Members of the Order of Saint Melina are all women. The counterpart of the Order of Saint Melina is the Order of Saint Jimenez which is designated for men. Both are part of the Orders of Saint Jimenez and members can be identified with the use of the order's initials "O.S.J." following their name. A member of the congregation must adhere to the vows of chastity, poverty, obedience, and the fourth vow, to give "unwavering love for the poor and vulnerable as Jesus Christ gives to us."

An important part of the order's ministry is ensuring its services are free of charge to those who seek them. This allows the order to serve individuals regardless of social status, nationality, income, or religion. Most funding for the missions organized by the order comes from special collections carried out by the Archdiocese of Del Agua. Collection funds by the archdiocese are divided between the two orders of the Orders of Saint Jimenez. Historically, more funding has been allocated to the Order of Saint Melina due to the extensive nature of its missions. On a local level, missions rely on the good nature of those in their community for financial and living needs.

Read dispatch

The order is a charitable institution and I plan on building on the dispatch as time goes on. I also want to create some Citizens posts about what the sisters do in their foreign missions. All are welcome to use them in your own posts or RP as well as you see fit. If you would like for the sisters to have a presence in your country (your country does not have to be dominantly Catholic or friendly towards the Jimenean government) then please let me know either here on the RMB or on the discord so I can add your country to the dispatch! If you have any advice or questions, feel free to let me know.

Stunning graphics as always

Hey, if I'm doing something good for the country, like, banning plastic bags, banning the arms manufacturing, then although Niceness, Cheerfulness, Compassion, Eco-Friendliness, Environmental Beauty, Weather, Influence etc. increases, but economic output, average income, that of the poor, that of the rich, economic freedom,
Krugman-Greenspan Business Outlook Index decreases...is doing something good for a nation wrong?

wrong is sort of subjective... being nice might just hurt financially. like if you were to give someone in need a few bucks, your niceness just went up but your wallet took a little hit. of course NS is on a larger scale :P
