Democrats shooting themselves in the foot again 3 months before the election

In a time where the Republican party is scrambling to put out fires and are performing considerably worse in polls (no 30 year republican hate machine against Hillary this time), New York attorney general is looking into taking down the NRA for the (objectively true) fraud going on. After sitting on this for months.

Should the NRA go down? Absolutely. They're a scummy GOP slush fund full of gun manufacturing lobbyists scamming tons of people out of money.

But now's not the time. The goal is to dissuade people from going to the polls and voting for Trump. But now it's super fecking easy to spin it as "Democrats want to take away your 2A rights" and suddenly Billy Bob and his 88 inbred cousins have gotten all riled up again, despite the fact that anyone with a shred of common sense should realize that the best possible thing for the oh so important 2A rights is to decouple from the NRA (and disband it in favor of an actual gun rights organization) and the GOP, as there are a ton of gun rights advocates who don't agree with either of those

Read the room and wait until November passes ffs. It's like y'all want to re-elect Trump

Honestly that's the Democrat's problem with every issue right now. At a time when they have a chance to covert a large number of moderates and real conservatives, they're doubling down on all the things that repel those people. The totally un-self-aware hate rhetoric doesn't help either.

I'm still hoping for a conservative revival in the Republican Party. It seems more likely than the Democrats unscrewing their position, since they can't seem to do that even when the opportunity of a generation is handed to them on a orange-gold platter.

It’s sad that when people belief that holding companies that represent gun manufacturers responsible for fraud is an attack on the second amendment.
But to counteract this I belief the DNC should just urge their voters to just start buying gun and do their part as patriotic citizens. Get the knickers of the Trumpist right in a twist.

Agree to disagree. The primary (one of many, many, many) reason for the sorry state of the Republican party is money. Money has always held ultimate power and it always will.

It's far more likely that the Democrats shut up for three months than for systemic changes keeping ludicrous amounts of cash, bribes, extortion, and zero oversight or accountability out of the government. The president is funneling crazy amounts of taxpayer dollars into his own properties and nobody even bats an eye anymore because it's expected behavior at this point.

A system that discourages education, critical thinking, and social progress thrives off of ignorance. That's why we're here. The left tends to do and say a lot of stupid stuff but those who dictate for the right are legitimately dangerous to society.

You cannot win against guns. They've got more rights and more ardent supporters than people do. The best thing to do is to leave the beast alone and let it starve itself out. Stop giving it food.

The one analysis I read is that it won't matter. Most Americans favor more gun regulation -- though what that means is anybody's guess, since the poll didn't ask -- and Trump's so-called base is already going to vote for him. That leaves relatively few people who might care. As the piece put it, "New York liberals hating guns is not news".

You are partially correct about money, you are not correct about who you blame for it. The Democrats have just as many, if not more, wealthy individual and corporate benefactors financing their campaigns and movements. (Bloomberg being the posterboy, but he's far from the only one.) They consistently raise and spend more money than Republicans and conservative movements, and the sources tend to be more heavily skewed towards the wealthy benefactors, while GOP and conservatives rely more on a small but active grassroots base.

As for winning people over, I mean long term, not just for 2020. That's going to happen, but only because of the push away from Trump, not because of any draw from Democrats. Those people will vote Republican in the midterms and 2024. The Democrats have a chance right now to reassert their moderate wing, and even bring back the "bluedog" conservatives. But instead they are doubling down on "socialism," abortion, and wokeness: all things that repel moderates and conservatives.

I'm not saying it's only a Republican issue, I'm saying that money dictates politics and is a big issue for the Republican party. Never said Democrats didn't also experience/contribute to it.

I've made my stance on Bloomberg clear and where I think he should shove his billions of dollars he doesn't need or deserve can't be said due to site rules.

Whenever large amounts of money comes from the top few people in politics it's an issue, because 60 million in "donations" with no oversight under the stipulation you throw them a bone back, often disadvantageous to the common man, changes so much more than 40 bucks from Ethel who goes to church every Sunday and wouldn't even entertain the thought of voting for someone who didn't have an R next to their name, policies be damned

I'll address the latter half and respond if needed in a few hours. About to get my teeth and my wallet violated

The Democrats’ agenda simplified is to transfer wealth from their political opponents to their political allies... at least their fiscal policies

Republicans are funneling money from Blue states to red states and letting Americans die because 1) their governor does not kowtow to his majesty King Georg- I mean Donald Trump, and 2) because the areas most affected are cities which are more often than not democratic leaning.

Well, Trump has more frequently denied money and federal aid to people, rather than actually stripping assets from liberal opponents.
