Today, we are proud to announce the creation of a new official forum for our region. This forum will act as the “official” off-site part of the region, replacing Discord. It will be the new home of our Senate, the Judiciary and the Courts, the Economic System, elections and our foreign embassies. In addition to this, the forum will contain all our official records, including the Constitution and the Law Registry.

With the creation of the forum, our citizenship requirements will change. As well as the current criterion (having a World Assembly nation), membership of our forum will also be required with a questionnaire created by Border Force the final stage of the process of citizenship. If you currently have citizenship, your citizenship will remain active for two weeks however if you fail to meet the new requirements (joining the forum) within that time, then you will lose citizenship.

As well as this, our off-site embassies will be moved from our Discord Server to our forum. If you are a foreign diplomat, please apply for a diplomatic visa when you join the forum.

Here’s a summary of all the passed legislation since the most recent term began at the beginning of August:

• The Criminal Offences Reform Bill – This bill has re-written our criminal offences, as included in Article V of the Constitution – the Judicial System.

• The Great Offices of State Reform Act – This bill has changed the process by which the Prime Minister and Great Officers of State are appointed. In the past, the party with a majority in the Senate would appoint the Prime Minister. However, this change means that a “speaker” election takes place for the Prime Minister’s position, who can then appoint the Cabinet (Great Officers of State) as they wish.

• 6th Regional Budget – This budget, produced by Chancellor Imperial Aukrulan now includes weekly wages instead of daily wages. However, it is anticipated that this budget will have to be changed in some respects following the introduction of our forum. The forum will have a fully capable economic system which is currently in development.

• The Union Broadcasting Service – this piece of statutory law, written by Home Secretary Union of the Squids, has introduced a state media company run by the Home Office. It will be the responsibility of UBS to produce latest news updates, such as this one, as well as other publications.

• Forum Amendments Bill – This bill, written by Foreign Secretary Oralas Latonds, has amended the Constitution and statutory law to introduce the official forum (see the first article of this update) to the UFN.

• The Judicial Reform Bill – This long awaited proposal by Prime Minister Owswaldia has completely reformed our Judicial System, improving many aspects that have caused problems in the past.
  

A new recruitment law is about to be debated by the Senator, introducing mandatory recruitment for senators. They must send at least 300 telegrams each month. This will help our recruitment program to become more efficient.

In addition to this, we currently holding a recruitment competition in discord. This competition is to see who can recruit the most nations, with prizes from our economic system and even an award from the Order of Jenkins!

Our Roleplay Secretary, Spaa, won the first week of the competition with 7 nations recruited – well done! Thanks to this competition lately our population is rising steadily – check out this graph to see how our residency is changing.

It was with great sadness that New Roheau Gallis, our Foreign Secretary, stepped down from his posts in the UFN last week. If you would like to read his resignation statement, you can click the spoiler below:

As a result of his resignation, a by-election has taken place for this position. The results of the by-election were released by Electoral Commissioner, Oralas Latonds, today. Newcomer, and independent, Chanykia was elected to the Senate. Full results of this election can be viewed here.

Sir Owswaldia then appointed Oralas Latonds to take over as Foreign Secretary. In the last few days, foreign affairs committees have been chaired by Oralas Latonds – news about this will be released in the next update.
