the left can't win electorally because liberal democracy is inherently against radical change which is what the left is for, however leftist change is only radical because majority of the world is entrenched in rightist/right-leaning politics which makes even moderate leftism radical

The situation in 1917's Russia is completely different to that of modern western societies. Not only was it a semi-constitutional monarchy, meaning the Tsar, an unelected position, still held the plurality of political power, but the nation was also in the middle of a devastating war and a massive famine. It's way easier to rally an army of revolutionaries under those conditions than in a modernised, democratic, cushy western country.
