The Socialist People's Union of Midterra Feels right to update y'all on this, I legit forgot: She's at home, in our cures now, and feels like she's recovering from her respiratory infection. She didn't cough once since her discharge, and her breathing seems going normal. She is slowly returning to her standard behaviour, although her brother, sadly, struggles to recognise her and doesn't try to interact much with her, even if they were really close before. As for the heart thing, she has a cardiomyopathy in an advanced state: she seemingly always had it. There are cats that live with it fine, but at this advanced state we cannot predict how many years does she still have to live... at least we have her in our comforting hands for the time being, that's something... I hope.
The Workers' Republic of American Soviet Confederation Hi y'all - I recently finished a major expansion to the Leftist Library. It's a bit of a unique one, in that I added a new volume - a special volume, dedicated to one specific topic. So, let me introduce y'all to the Leftist Library's Special Volume on Palestine. This took me... god, 6-7 hours to complete?? So, without further a do, here ya go: Table of Contents Education ____General Education ____Books ____Essays, Articles and Blog Posts ____Videos ____Mythbusting Current Events & Praxis ____News ____Human Rights Organizations ____Activist Organizations ____On-The-Ground Aid Organizations ____Student Intifada (Campus Protests) ____Music The Leftist Library's Special Volume on Palestine is a compilation of various resources covering the situation in Palestine, intended for education, praxis, and other uses. This special volume was made in the midst of Israel's genocidal war on Gaza, where at the time of writing this volume, more than 35,000 Palestinians have been killed, and more than 79,000 have been wounded. This volume was made in order to educate people on the situation in Palestine, both before and after Oct 7, and to counter the atrocious media reporting, consent-manufacturing, and Hasbara on this situation. - - - - - - - EDUCATION General Resources Some general resources on Palestine for education. Decolonize Palestine - a Palestine education website run by two Palestinians living in Ramallah. Highly useful and comprehensive resource, good for mythbusting. Palestine Studies - a website with large amounts of academic studies and papers, policy papers, articles, videos, photos, and news concerning Palestine. Palestine: A Comprehensive Document for Palestinian Liberation - massive Google doc compiled by MrKazuma. Very well-sourced, including citations of the previous two sources. Outlines the case that Israel is committing apartheid and settler-colonialism in the region. Archived here. Occupation 101 - another massive Google doc, detailing the history of Israel and Palestine, the present-day situation, and debunking some myths. Archived here. Crimes by Israel - comprehensive list of crimes Israel has committed after October 7, making the case that Israel's treatment of the Palestinians amounts to genocide. ICJ Application in South Africa v. Israel case - South Africa's application for ICJ proceedings against Israel for genocide. Presents a very thorough and comprehensive case that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. From Afrika to Palestine: Liberation Reading List - a short reading list provided by Black Bruin Book Club from UCLA, containing a series of resources on the relations between the black liberation struggle in the West and the Palestinian liberation struggle. FURTHER READINGS Books Some books on Palestine and Israeli settler-colonialism. Note that I'm not the most familiar with books regarding this issue, so please feel free to suggest some!

CURRENT EVENTS & PRAXIS The following are resources for praxis and keeping up with current events pertaining to Palestine, including news about the West Bank, Gaza, and Israel, news about the campus protests/student intifada, and finding ways to get involved. News Much of the mainstream media coverage on the current situation in Gaza and the broader Palestinian occupied territories has been rather questionable and heavily biased against Palestinians. Below is a collection of reliable, trustworthy news sources for keeping up-to-date with Palestine and related ongoings. Human Rights Organizations Many human rights organizations have documented and harshly criticized Israel's war crimes and genocidal and colonial acts. Below are some with a good track record on Israel and Palestine. Activist Organizations A collection of activist organizations demanding a ceasefire and liberation for Palestine. Students for Justice in Palestine Democratic Socialists of America Furthermore, a coalition of 253 organizations have released a statement standing in solidarity with the Gaza student protests and calling for a ceasefire. On-The-Ground Aid Organizations A collection of aid organizations currently operating on-the-ground in Gaza. You may want to consider donating to them. Student Intifada (Campus Protests) A collection of information and resources on the campus protests/student intifada. A map of student protests. Green indicates campuses that have or had encampments, while blue indicates other campuses with protests. Zoomable version can be found here. A map of campus encampments in the United States. Source Wikipedia page on 2024 pro-Palestinian protests on university campuses - a decent overview of the events from a "neutral" point of view. What Are These Student Protestors ACTUALLY Doing? - Twitch streamer Hasanabi interviews two Columbia student protestors. “A Glorious Fight,” Columbia's Gaza Solidarity Encampment: A Timeline by Anna Rajagopal and Kaitlyn Cook - a timeline of events regarding Columbia's student protests for Palestine. LA Intifada: Dispatches from USC's Student Rebellion by Samia Saliba - a short article on the Palestine protests at USC, written by a PhD student attending USC. A Week in Photos from the Columbia University Gaza Solidarity Encampment by Samaa Khullar - a bunch of photos of Columbia's Palestine protests. In Defense of America's Student Intifada by Fatima Bhutto, a spirited defense of the student intifada, drawing ties between today's Gaza solidarity protests and the anti-apartheid, civil rights, and Vietnam War student protests of the past. The Student Movement Is Writing a New Chapter of History by Dylan Saba, a short analysis of the student intifada by an attorney at Palestine Legal. I would recommend following the social media accounts of local SJP, YDSA, JVP and/or IfNotNow chapters at your local college campus - even if your local campus is small, odds are that a pro-Palestine student organization at that campus exists and is doing good work! Most pro-Palestine student organizations have Instagram accounts, so check on Instagram to see if your local campus' organization(s) has an account. It is especially important to follow these accounts due to the frequently inaccurate and plainly false media coverage of these protests, which often blindly report propaganda and Hasbara as facts - these organizations' accounts provide on-the-ground information about these protests that can help counter propagandistic media coverage. Plus, as most campuses are open to everyone, feel free to attend any events or protests being hosted by any of these organizations! (However, make sure to keep yourself safe at protests.) An assorted list of social media accounts: Columbia - @sjp.columbia, @columbiaydsa, @jvp.columbia, @cuapartheiddivest UCLA - @sjpatucla, fjpatucla, @uclaydsa, @ucladivest, @jvpatucla UC Berkeley - @bearsforpalestine, @calydsa, @jvpberkeley, @ucbdivest, @berkeleylawforpalestine USC - @uscscale Harvard - psc.harvard (Facebook), @harvardcollegeydsa, @harvardgs4p There is a wide variety of dis- and misinformation regarding the campus protests and student intifada. I haven't seen a ton of major resources dedicated to refuting these myths, so let us do so here. MYTH: Most pro-Palestine campus protests are violent. MYTH: Most or many pro-Palestine campus protestors are anti-semitic. MYTH: Chants like "intifada", "from the river to the sea", and "we don't want no two-state" are anti-semitic and/or hateful. MYTH: Pro-Palestine students at UC Berkeley attacked Jewish students during a speaker event. MYTH: Pro-Palestine students at Northeastern University students chanted "kill the Jews." MYTH: We should ban both pro-Palestine and pro-Israel protests on college campuses, in order to keep campus environments calm and safe. MYTH: Many protestors, such as the ones at Columbia, are storming and occupying buildings, which is violent. This shows that these protests aren't legitimate peaceable assembly. MYTH: Most of the campus protestors are 'outside agitators,' not students of the respective universities. Alternatively, student protestors are being paid to protest. MYTH: The tents used in the encampments are all the same. This suggests that an outside conspiracy is afoot, as in, someone is buying the protestors all these tents in bulk. (Tent theory) USA Today has also tackled some of the more blatant dis- and misinformation about the student protests here. Music Music to jam to while chanting "Free Palestine!" Rajieen (turn on closed captions to see English translation) Given the gravity of the situation in Palestine right now, the fact that the Palestinians are facing an actual genocide, for me a special volume on Palestine felt right - especially given the complexity of the Israeli-Palestinian 'conflict' and just how long Israel's settler-colonialism and oppression of the Palestinians has gone on. I especially wanted to counter the utterly atrocious media coverage that our consent-manufacturing news media has given this situation, the amount of apologia, falsehoods and lies they've put out regarding Palestine - I wanted to correct the record and lay out the facts.
