Tamsyn Glowbrenn ES, Lewydh of the Kesva Kernev, announced has announced she will not be standing for re-election on 22 December. First elected in 2000, Glowbrenn has represented the ward of Tewynblustri & Fawy for over two decades; since 2013, and her election as Lewydh, she has held the seat unopposed by major parties.

Tewynblustri & Fawy presents a substantial opportunity for Ecology, where they attained over a quarter of the vote in 2020 and the retirement of Glowbrenn presents a substantial opportunity. Frioc Penrose, Ecology's candidate in the seat claims "we've had an excellent reception these last few weeks, people are tired of the old parties and party system and are crying out for something new". 

Davydh mab Metroc, MK candidate for the seat strikes a more reserved tone - "the people of Tewynblustri haven't had any choice for over a decade, it's no wonder some wanted to protest with their votes - but they have a chance to be right at the heart of government this election with Mebyon Kernev".

182 candidates are standing in the Kesva Kernev election in two weeks time, the most in the history of Kernevic elections. Following the announcement of Tamsyn Glowbrenn, the Lewydh, last week that she would not be seeking re-election, a number of parties have announced candidates in the seat. Traditionally parties do not stand against the sitting Lewydh, this will therefore be the first open contest in Tewynblustri & Fawy since 2013.

Unlike recent elections, therefore, Mebyon Kernev, Bora Keltek, Unyans Kernev and the Folk Party are all standing candidates for all thirty seats of the Kesva Kernev. Socialist Labour are standing in all seats bar Stradnedh. Ecology are standing nearly double the number of candidates compared to 2020, standing 21 candidates up from 13. A total of 12 independent candidates are standing across Kernev across 10 wards.
