In a dark room decorated with indigo rugs, a man sits on a wooden throne that is more of a cushioned bench. Above his khaki trousers he is wearing nothing but a kevlar vest and a fur coat, open and tailored in a way that shows the width of his shoulders and forearms. He is still undeniably imposing, despite having let himself go since he first sat on that chair. Sometimes he wonders how weak he would have become had he kept the colourful Lords' soft thrones. Yellowed papers with concise text in a practical, blocky font are disposed on an uncomfortably low table before him. He picks one up. He has the dark rugged hands of a farmer, perhaps he had been one, in another life. His movements are slow and deliberate, perhaps a bit difficult too ; He breathes loudly. He reads them with a sleepy expression. He always has a sleepy expression ; He knows because of it his people have given him a few unflatering nicknames. He doesn't mind, it's cute. He scratches his black beard a bit too intensely, leaving red marks on his skin. And then, for the first time this day, First Consul Tarke smiles. With his soft voice and what sounds like a vocal fry he mumbles something in a guttural language.
