Riots in Major Cities! Lord Protector flees Thurston

Following the publishing of yesterday morning's article spontaneous protesting occurred throughout the realm against the Lord Protector. Protestors are calling for the Lord Protector to resign, and for the King to rule directly in the interim before the re-establishment of our democratic systems. In Thurston, protestors rallied at the Market Square and shouted anti-NAP chants and slogans, with speeches given by former members of the King's Party and Noble Alliance.
Thurstonshire Police Riot Officers After an hour of protesting, members of the Thurstonshire Constabulary attempted to kettle the protestors in the square to prevent any unrest on the streets. Members of the NDF arrived around dusk, some of whom were armed. Violence broke out following a rumour that police are supporting the Anti-NAP protests, with NDF thugs attacking both police and protestors. With the breakdown in order the Thurstonshire Constabulary ordered its Riot Control Units to restore order. At 19:15, anti-NAP protestors burned down the National Authority Party's Headquarters. From around 20:30, attacks were carried out on police cars, a double-decker bus and local businesses and homes by NDF paramilitary forces. Police vans and officers from the Territorial Support Group attended the disorder on Thurston High Road. Shops windows were smashed and the shops looted by rioters. Fireworks, petrol bombs and other missiles were thrown at police, Anti-NAP protestors and NDF paramilitary forces. Twenty-six officers were injured, including one who sustained head injuries. Firefighters experienced difficulty reaching burning buildings because of the disorder.
By 21:00, the Lord Protector and Cabinet left Thurston by helicopter travelling to the city of Newark in the Eastern Riding. When pressed for a comment the NAP stated that the Lord Protector had an already existing engagement in the city. Elsewhere across the capital, violent disturbances erupted in both inner city areas and the suburbs, leading to a heavy presence of riot police throughout the city.
Royal Snotsfordshire Police Officers in Snotsford
city centre At 22:00, it was reported that sporadic unrest occurred in Snotsford, Lechester, Port Stanley, Port Stanley, and Aldborough. In Port William Town centre, Navy Memorial Park and alleyways between there and the Royal Garden shopping centre were guarded by police. A heavy police presence was seen outside the town's railway station where people arriving were being searched for security reasons. Riot police arrived in Port William town centre at 23:00 as several small groups of anti-NAP, arrived by cars, buses and trains. Disorder ensued around 23:30 when a police car in Church Street was pelted with bricks. Shops were attacked, including CCT branch in Church Street.
By 03:59, the Royal Snotsfordshire Constabulary Chief Constable Christian Williams said: "This is a challenging situation with small pockets of anti-government violence, and disorder breaking out in a number of areas in Snotsford." At 04:11 the Government announced that city and town boroughs throughout Thurland were placed on riot alert. With the large scale anti-government riots, the Lord Mayor of Thurston, the Lord Mayor of Snotsford, the Mayor of Lechester and the Governor of Port William, declared that they recognise the pre-coup government as the legitimate authority in Thurland, and called for all to rally around the leadership of King William Arthur IV. As such they called upon their equivalents in their respective shires to also show support to the crown. By 06:00 The shires of Thurstonshire, Aldboroughshire, Bottesford, Lechestershire and Sarumshire declared that the Protectorship was illegal, and rallied to the pre-coup government. North Thurland has seen a resurgent PFNT presence, and the Lord Lieutenant of North Thurland, Sir Derek Abercrombie, has requested military forces be sent "swiftly" to end any secessionist hopes.
Although the riots has abated since since the highs of last night and this morning. Many protestors are appealing to local governments and the military to intervene and depose the Lord Protector. The King has called for the calming of tensions, and has ordered the military to be on stand-by to bring order to the nation. The Lord Archbishop of Snotsford has ordered a day of national prayer calling for unity and peace.
Sources within the NAP confirm that the party has been in talks with "friendly" states to supply arms to the NDF. A party spokesman stated "The people of Thurland do not know what's best for them, we do. The NAP will lead Thurland to greatness, and we will use all means to achieve our goals". Many commentators are fearing that the prospect of civil war is not just on Thurland's horizon but is imminent, with northern Thurland expected to see an increase in PFNT attacks and secessionist violence, a strong NAP presence in the East of the Kingdom, and worrying murmurings of a SCCP in southern Sarumshire.
The Times of Thurland denounces the new regime and will continue to speak out against the totalitarian institutions being imposed upon the nation. God Save the King!
