The Helladric Commonwealth of Ionysia Numbers (Biblical Hebrew: בְּמִדְבַּר, romanized: Bəmīḏbar, lit. 'In [the] desert') chapters 1 - 12 I have been neglectful in keeping pace with my project. Here is the book of Numbers. Previously, the Israelites have made it out of Egypt, and have received laws in Exodus and received more laws in Leviticus, and they will unsurprisingly be receiving some more laws in Numbers. But more action is to come, as they are about to be told to go forth and conquer Canaan. |
The Federated Empire of Helladria SpaceX Ditched an Entire Falcon Heavy To Launch NASA's Massive Probe To Europa! NASA's Europa Clipper mission will be the largest spacecraft ever to go into deep space. The 6 ton spacecraft will eventually arrive at Jupiter in 2030 and will make multiple flypasts of Europa, Jupiter's second moon, which is believed to have a substantial sub-surface ocean, warmed by tidal heating from the giant planet. |
The Helladric Commonwealth of Ionysia How To Use AI PRIVATELY AI is already deeply integrated into our daily digital activities, whether we realize it or not, but it's a double-edged sword: On the one hand it can skyrocket our productivity and skillset. On the other, there are often serious privacy concerns to using it. |
The Federated Empire of Helladria The 'Papyrus of Ani' A sampling and description of the Papyrus of Ani held by the British Museum: https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/Y_EA10470-3 The Papyrus of Ani was discovered in Luxor in 1888 by Egyptians trading in illegal antiquities, and was acquired (and smuggled to the British Museum) by E.A. Wallis Budge. The Papyrus was created around 1250 BC during the 19th Dynasty of the New Kingdom for a Theban scribe named Ani. It is one of the best known examples (and finest according to the Font of All Knowledge) of a type of Egyptian funerary spell compendium known as the 'Spells of Coming Forth by Day' but better known as the 'Book of the Dead'. |
The Helladric Commonwealth of Ionysia Numbers (Biblical Hebrew: בְּמִדְבַּר, romanized: Bəmīḏbar, lit. 'In [the] desert') chapters 13 - 24 The time comes and Moses sends spies into Canaan before the Israelites are to take possession of it. But the report is daunting and there is a great lack of faith among the generation that arose out of Egypt... |
The Federated Empire of Helladria Dispute Between a Man and His Ba Dispute Between a Man and His Ba is a dialogue from the Egyptian Twelfth Dynasty (c. 1991–1802 BC). The Ba is one of nine parts of the Egyptian conception of the soul, and represents the personality. Since its purchase in 1843 by Karl Richard Lepsius, this Egyptian dialogue has had a missing initial section. Fortuitously, the Papyrus Mallorca II was found to be this missing piece in 2017, which reveals that this speaker is referred to as "the sick man" and the dialogue likely takes place before an audience of a woman named Ankhet. |

The Federated Empire of Helladria Numbers (Biblical Hebrew: בְּמִדְבַּר, romanized: Bəmīḏbar, lit. 'In [the] desert') chapters 25 - 36 Part 3 of 3. Currently, I am on schedule to finish the Mosaic books by the end of the year if I split the final book over two readings of slightly more than an hour each. On alternate weeks, I'll see if I can find a couple Ugaritic works. |
The Helladric Commonwealth of Ionysia The Ba'al Cycle dictated by Attani-puruleni, Chief of Priests, Chief of Cultic Herdsmen The Ba'al Cycle is a major late Bronze Age (c. 1500-1300 BC) literary text from Ugarit, which was located along the Mediterranean coast of what is modern day north western Syria. What survives of the story comes from six cuneiform clay tablets found in the 1920s in the Tell of Ugarit (modern Ras Shamra) a few kilometers north of the modern city of Latakia. Unlike some of the Phoenician cities like Tyre and Sidon that prospered during the Bronze Age collapse, Ugarit was destroyed with the invasion of the Sea Peoples and abandoned c. 1185 BC. These stories describe the basis for the religion and cult of the Canaanite Ba'al (whose name is Hadad; Ba'al is a title meaning lord or owner), and also reveal parallels with the cultures of ancient Israel and Judah. Perhaps consequently, as I've searched around for audio, I found these videos to provide worthwhile insight in both directions between the Canaanite language and culture and various Biblical passages. This post includes the first two out of five videos in the series, which covers the first four of six tablets in the cycle. |
