Nordic Air Flight 227, En Route to Kjanu
Cold currents of air buffeted the four-engined airliner, leaving Rosie off balance with the turbulent travel and distant lightning giving the impression that some divine force was resisting her arrival, the plane was half-empty and most others were fast asleep despite the sensory assault.
She turned her manufactured passport over and over in an anxious haze, opening it on occasion to look upon the new identity she'd had scant days to memorize, her dead eyed stare in the photograph only causing her heart to race that little bit faster.
'Ayumi Ishimura, AI Research... really playing it hard there, is this going to fool anyone?' she pondered before flipping the small polymer coated book closed again, tapping it against her arm before stowing it once more in her coat's pocket.
The temptation to try and drown herself in alcohol grew as the flight continued, only smoothing out as the final descent started...
Sunrise seemed to glisten from the pristine forests, a light foggy haze through the trees that broke against the stylized white structures, bright efficient lighting illuminating long train lines and the constant flurry of small drones on seemingly innocuous flight paths.
Against her better judgement, Rosie pilfered a large bottle of wine from the passing cart and downed the whole beverage in the final closing minutes, burying the bottle under her seat as the aircraft set down with a heavy thud.
She kept staring at the city beyond as they taxied to the terminal, the long tunnel of glass with the smiling staff of Nordic Air thanking the departing passengers with empty pleasantries, beyond them lay the concourse of the airport... its spacious interior feeding towards a long line of well-kept train stations, the pristine sterile white was ever present and oppressive, she knew the drones above were watching, the facade of open arms masking a long gun aimed at the heads of everyone.
Rosie didn't want to be here.

Mingyue Pavillion

Phoenixes strutted through the gardens, their golden plumage gleaming in the sun. Their train of feathers trailed the grass bright and clear. Away on the Palace's vast lake they sat, upon the Mingyue Pavillion (明月楼). The smell of tea was not too soft, nor too great. It mixed with the sweet scent of cakes and pastries that piled elegantly upon plates on the table.
"Our guests seem hot." The Empress smiled. "Do fan our Electrican visitors for us, it would not do to have their discomfort."
The ice clinked softly at the porcelain teacups, cooling their tea.

"So you say you wish to build a military base in our north." The Empress asked, smoothing her robes. "If I may, could I ask for what purpose?"

One of the guards just stood there not making a single sound or movement, but his eyes seem to convey a message of 'I only fallow orders'

Woman Delegate: "Currently we have another and much large base in the North Pole, the base here in Dynasty territoy will allow pur transports to have a halfway point and rest point when being transferred to said base. President Williams Sworn In for Second Term

Just after noon yesterday, President John Williams was sworn in for another four years as President of AusValia. Williams was elected by an overwhelming margin of nearly six million votes.

In his nearly two hour speech the President stated his goal of maintaining economic and scientific advancement, education overhaul, and working to buildup AusValia on the world stage,

"As we approach the dawn of a new year, this administration stands committed to moving us forward. My goals, while simple, will drastically assist every AusValian. We will begin working towards a comprehensive healthcare reform plan. We will work towards being the beacon of light and hope for every immigrant. We will continue to build up the mighty AusValian military with the latest in technology and gear."

Many were surprised at the stunning lack of healthcare reform details, a highlight of the President's reelection campaign. Many suspect that any healthcare plan proposed by the President will be DOA with the Conservatives in control of the Upper House and their possible control in the Lower House. However, the speech maintained a certain level of confidence, despite the President possible being moved into the minority,

"It has been a long time coming, but today, change has come to AusValia. However, even as we celebrate tonight, we know that the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime. The road will be long. We may not get there in three months or even four years, but I have never been more hopeful that we will get there as a people."

Vote for Head of the House Stalls

Nearly two months after election day, there is still no Head of the House for the Lower House. For the first time in the nation's history, the house is split, fifty Conservatives, fifty United Future Party members. Usually the HoH is chosen by the majority party, since there is no majority party, both sides have to come to an agreement on who will be the next HoH.

This has led to a major roadblock, and until an HoH is set, no legislation can be passed through the Lower House, meaning we have a stalled government. President Williams hosted a meeting with the leadership of both sides to encourage a break of the log jam. UFP members do not want to lose the Upper and Lower House, while Conservatives, who have not held majority in over ten years in the Lower House are refusing to miss this opportunity.

"It certainly was not my idea to have an even government, but that is what we have. The AusValian people should not have to sit and wait on us to get this done." Former HoH Mike Selmer on ZNN.

Another vote is scheduled for the end of the week in which both sides hope a compromise will be agreed upon.

Standoff Reaches Day Ten

Federal Police reported today that James Morton, AKA,  Frederick DeBianchi, responsible for the 2004 bombing in Arwindom is the twenty-fourth member of the Carter cult to have been released,

"James Morton will be held until we can confirm his identity. If he is confirmed to be Mr. DaBianchi, he will be extradited to Arwindom to face justice for his horrific crimes." Chief Foreign Diplomat Arnold Vinnick.

Meanwhile, pressure is mounting to end the ten-day standoff with the Carter group. The President, who has been monitoring the situation, is calling on the Federal Police to continue deescalation techniques, but also admitted we cannot have "an indefinite standoff."

Since the siege started three people have been killed, twenty-four have been released, while seventy-eight remain inside.

NU Vision results
Hi. It's your favourite superstar from Belarus, Ayfesa Eroshika. Today I am presenting the much-delayed results of the NU vision competition. The excuse for these delays was the attack of the Skyfoogle, the network executives being involved in a drunk driving scandal and the Macdonalds sex club closing.
In the meantime. Here are our five nations
Kjanu
United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor
The Soviet state of Svalbard
Feng Dynasty
Of denmarkia

Unfortunately, Denmarkia only received 5 points, so they do not receive anything except a consolation prize of a Nintendo Gameboy.
The Feng Dynasty falls next, receiving just 15 points. They do however get the dignity of receiving a large packet of tea bags and some sugar.
Miotia-Candor barely missed joint second place with 35 points. A promising start, they receive a box set of Fist Of Flame as a consolation prize.

Now it is down to our final two. Who will win? The introverted Svalbardians or the psychopaths, I mean kind-hearted cuties of Kjanu.

....

Congratulations Kjanu!! You have won with 55 points. Svalbard receives a large sum of money as our runner up with 40 points.
Kjanu will receive a nuclear weapon of their choice, their musician gets a session with me in the bedroom and gets to choose the theme for next month's contest.

Thank you very very much to all the entrants, we look forward to next time!!

(OOC: SORRY for the delay, the past week has been very turbulent mentally but HOPEFULLY things are looking up now :D expect a post and some factbooks very soon xx)

The gentle chirping of Phoenixes disturbed the air. The Empress raised her brows. "Truly? How astoundingly interesting this is."
She took a dainty nip of a cake. "What would be below the Utopian North that would be dangerous so? How is it that you know of its life?"
She swirled a teacup. "And why the Dynasty's north? My realm lies more to the south than the Electrican states, and thus further from the yonder north." She turned her gaze to the delegate, her eyes two pools of perfect peace. "Would the United States have some other reason? To build one in our soil would be far too impractical, I believe."

Amatsumikaboshi, Pupatory, United Kingdom(BGM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAZKjQZFLOg)
The sun was up, the sky was clear, the blowing wind from the sea blows directly through the silky curtains.
Hearing the sound of the calm waves, as if time itself has slowed down.
“Kana, Wake up~ Wake up!”
The short light gold dyed haired girl rolling onto the side facing the wall, burying her face deeper into the pillows. Ichihara Kana attempts to ignore both the sound of the alarm and Mashiro’s voice.
“Ugh- what's with you today.... just one more hour, Mashiro~”
“We’ll be late for class, Kana. Mr Konishi will be mad at us again!”
Getting annoyed by her roommate’s voice, she threw her pillow at Mashiro, tackle, and pushed her down on the floor in her blanket Causing a mess in the room as plushies fell from the shelves.
“How dare you disturb my beauty slumber!~”
She smirks and said to Mashiro, who was now trapped under the blanket with Kana on top. Except it didn’t happen.
None of this did.
What Kana pushed down was nothing but card boxes, no plushies fell, because they simply weren’t there. So is her friend.
Awaken from her daydream, facing the cold cracked ground of a plant covered ruined apartment complex, Kana sits up slowly.
The alarm clock was still beeping.
[jr]
Slowly reaching for the alarm and turns it off.
Looking out the shattered window, A strange feeling of nostalgia hits.
The same town, the same view.
Beyond the sea of green ruined buildings, construction of the bright white New Amatsuikaboshi city could be seen in the distance as massive cranes are being installed.
Picking up the pillow and stood up in her pajamas.
Looking around the room, nothing much from the past was left, only this cracked picture frame.
A picture of an older, easier time.
A picture of Kana, Mashiro and three more of her friends smiling on stage in front of the local coastal monument.
The sky in the picture was as clear as it is today.
‘Celestial5 idol group Amatsumikaboshi concert 6/4/2008’
Although some may say it was a period of illusion and blind happiness.
To her, whether it was blind or not, it didn’t matter. What matters is that it happened.

After taking a shower from the waterfall that formed when this building collided with the next, connected to the mountain.
The songs of birds and the calming sound of leaves could be heard along with the waterfall.
Putting on a straw hat, all shorts, she returned to her room.
She quickly packed her belongings, including the picture frame, and began to slowly climb down the ruins by sliding down the vines.
“Safe~”
She said once she touches the ground.
The half collapsed ruins and the plants made a rather interesting shading on the campus. While the campusis indeed covered by the shadows, tiny streams of light were able to leak through. A perfect balance between light and dark.
Turning on her radio, she dances as she walks through the campus.
Passing through the library, boys dormitory, the labs, the office, and finally the rusty gates.

She stopped in front of the gate, closed her eyes.
A lively town and campus could be heard and felt.
Students of that era lining up at the bakery across to get breakfast. The old lady who always talks with the patrolling police in the morning, the security guard who slacks off.
And finally, herself, she racing with her friends to the campus entrance despite that fact they’re university students.
And the same police would always tell them to stop with such childish acts.
“It’s nice to be young”
The old lady would always say.
“As if I would let you get a 3 streak in a row, Kana!”
“Sigh, why are we doing this every morning…. I wanna sl-”
“Mashiro surely has it easy, having Kana waking you up every morning.”
While the four were chattering, Kana reaches the gates again. Laughing with pride.
Daydreams are nice.
It allows you to dive into your memories to experience lost things once more.
Opening her eyes, Kana turns and looks at the now ruined campus taken back by mother nature.
“I think it looks better this way”
She said, as she bows at the campus before leaving.
Walking along the beach to avoid road blockades.
“The sand is surely hot.”
She said, quickly walks closer to the sea.
The clear and clear waves calmly washes her legs as the bright sun continues to shine onto the beach without any blockades of the clouds.
No ships, cars, nor people for miles, it was just her.
Taking out a camera, it was an old model. The camera had mascot stickers.
Standing on the beach, she took a picture of the green city ruins, beach, and finally the shipless vast ocean with the destroyed Rias space elevator in the distance.

Walking a little further, taking out her picture frame. Confirming the location.
It was the stage they performed on 12 years ago.
Due to the main structure was originally carved out of stone, it is well preserved.
However the stage is covered in collapsed metallic structures.
The seats are now covered in sand.
She carefully climbed onto the stage, avoiding sharp objects.
Standing at the center, the center of the stage, the center of the world.
“This surely brings back memories, right? Laruna? Charlotte? Chifuya? Mashiro?”
They four nodded in agreement behind her.
Smiling from their responses, she took out her the camera once more, and took pictures of the area.
And finally the group.
“These pictures will certainly make an attractive article.”
She said to herself happily, and continues her journey through the post apocalyptic nation, towards south, alone.
5km from miraculum cell spiral tree, ground zero, Hinomoto, United Kingdom
The great Hinomoto wasteland is now covered in unknown harmless plantations caused by the outbreak of the miraculum cell and the incident back in the abandoned underground orphanage.
At the heart of it, there stood a 2.6-kilometer tree-like structure that reshaped the United Kingdom’s skyline in a single afternoon. Its pollen also cured the teardrop plague for Serpentuem, also ending the war on both sides. The massive tree is currently guarded by one of the few remaining Arsenal Rays. Ground zero is currently an extremely guarded area, however, it is not close to civilian visit, this is because of the teardrop plague treatment center Serpentuem set up there.
The United Kingdom never had time to nor the resources to prevent former residents from returning to the area to rebuild their homes. The people who returned to their home quickly adapted to the new scenery, massive craters, collapsed highways, plant-covered ruins, the spiral tree, and more. Despite knowing the United Kingdom would never be the same again after having casualties of 21 million and still counting, due to the large scale destruction of security cameras, law enforcement has greatly weakened. For the past months, the public security and the military police has launched a countless crackdown on self-governing criminal territories.

In this certain vast grassy plain under a cloudless sky, an old black diesel convertible car stopped by the side of the road, just next to the melted lamp post.
“So that’s where Jezabelstien’s laser was hit huh?”
Shinozaki scrolling the news on her phone as she lean on the seat, facing the sun under the protection on a pair of sunglasses.
Meanwhile Marissa went over to the bush to take a sample of the plantation that thrived on the glass like crater caused by Irene’s light.
Injecting the sample into a small handle testing device with both the SSS and Yotsubashi logo on the back. Waiting for the testing result, Marissa looked around for any incomign cars, then took off her hood, letting her feline ears out.
“As expected these plants are also caused by the miraculum cells.”
Marissa reported back to Shinozaki as she packs up the medical equipment.
“Do you really think Akko is still somewhere in there?”
Shinozaki asks Marissa as she turns to look at the branches spiral tree a kilometer above.
“If what that madman Mendelson said was right, the miraculum cells twists one’s wish into physical form. Just like what happened to the orphanage, and ever-improving organ production system, harvesting to learn, to improve, to save. However, it killed more than it saved.”
Marissa casually explained as she lay on the soft ground covered by grass as she looked up at the coloussal tree in front of her.
“The miraculum cells… perhaps it wanted a purpose. That’s why they take in desires and materialize them. That’s why I believe they are.”
Marissa said, closing her eyes and taking a nap under the warmth of the sun.
“Semi-sentinel single-cell organism theory huh. Not bad, but I wonder if those old people in the medical society could take it, especially when it’s a report written by someone who just recently joined.”
“You’re probably right Shinozaki, I doubt they would take it seriously hahaha.”
.
.
.
The two enjoyed the scenery and the close feeling of nature by the breezing wind.
“Well, I guess it’s time we should go.”
Marissa suggested as she gets up and puts on her hood.
“You sure? I’m not sure if you could see the tree as clearly as here in Edokyuuria, shouldn't you spend a bit more time?”
Shinozaki asks as she fixes the driver seat.
“I’m good, I’m sure I would be able to see it from the Senate Terminal arcology.”
“...”
Marissa walked over to one of the smaller giant roots of the colossus tree, hugging it.
“I’ll come to visit again, Akko.”
.
.
.
“We have no choice but to go through the northern ruins, the highway is pretty much collapsed.”
Shinozaki explained as she started the engine. Marissa puts the suitcase in the backseat as she helps to set the GPS guide.
“Ugh forget it, we’ll use the physical map instead.”
Shinozaki muttered in slight frustration since most of the listed routes are unavailable.
“Good thing your sister still kept a diesel car, otherwise we won’t be able to come all the way out here without recharging.”
Marissa commented as she took out the map from Shinozaki’s bag.
“Inaban isn’t a big fan of electric cars after all.”
Shinozaki replied as she stepped on the gas.

New Maidpara cafe, Senate Terminal Arcology, Edokyuuria crater
The military police intelligence branch that had been covered up as a maid cafe, Maidpara was unusually crowded today. The cafe was moved to the mall district of the Arcology, the original shop was destroyed along with the entirety of the great Edokyuuria urban district, which is now known as the Edokyuuria crater.
“And so? You came here to ask for love advice. What are you, a high schooler?”
Sutsushi replied, with disappointment. She is one of the military police officers stationed here, and also a former guard of the old Shinozaki administration. Along with communist force defector Albert Lionheart, she and Shinozaki fought their way to escape the former senate terminal during the civil war period.
Their friendship with Akima and Inaban was built after that.
“You do know that you're the only one I could ask.”
Akima replied, frustrated by her insult.
“Have you taken her out on a date?”
“Sieg is in ruins...”
“Perfect. I’m sure you can see the entire galaxy at night, there’s not much light pollution now isn’t it? Why not use that to your advantage?”

Naval Academy and HQ, Sieg-II
Meanwhile on the deck of the constructing DDR-N241, nuclear destroyer Hakuhou.
“Admiral, why am I here? And why are you asking me for love advice?”
Albert Lionheart asked after hearing the request from Inaban. He does not want to get involved in this matter at all.

Chancellor's office, Senate Terminal Arcology, Edokyuuria crater
Cleaning up the documents, piling them, putting them on the table was an unusual act of our lazy hikikomori Chancellor Fuyuki Mashiro.
“It’s finally done.”
She muttered as she took a long look around her organized office for the first time.
“I guess it’s a new start from here.”
She muttered as she carefully sneaked out of the office, putting on a pair of glasses, letting her hair loose, she casually took the elevator to the parking lot.
“Now I can’t be late for Tatiana’s hospital discharge can I?”

Vice GE Victoria knocked on the door, no response. Mashiro must’ve fallen asleep again, that’s what she thought.
She forcefully opened the door, slamming it as she called Mashiro. The room was extremely organized to a point she couldn’t believe it. She had to close the door and open them again to make sure it wasn’t an illusion.

Northern Edokyuuria Ruins, Old Miotus, United Kingdom
“Take a good look, Marissa. This place used to be part of the great Edokyuuria urban district. You’ve probably seen the old skyline from the pictures back in the orphanage 20 years ago… well if you remember-”
Shinozaki explained as she carefully drives through the plant-covered ruins. The district has completely returned to nature, forests were grown from the ruined apartments as water walls could be seen coming off from the former offices and malls.
“It’s hard to imagine this was once a metropolis.”
She replied, looking at the plant-covered concrete structures that seemed like it would reach the sky.
“Are these also caused by the miraculum cells?”
Marissa asked as she looked at the abandoned restaurants and shops covered in vines.
“Oh no, these places were here like this, way before the outbreak.”
“I see.”

“The bushes are getting really dense here…”
Shinozaki muttered as she slowed down the car even more. Marissa continues to observe the abandoned street view of the northern urban district. The two were unaware of something, falling above them.
“UNYAAAAA”
A girl fell into the back seat of their car. The two were startled, and Shinozaki immediately stepped on the break.
“That hurts…”
The girl said as she held onto the doors as support to get up.
“Shinozaki, did she just… fell... from..”
“She sure did. Marissa.”
The girl quickly swipes the dust off her pants and fixes her bag, judging from her camera showing in her bag, and the notebook in her hands. She seems to be a journalist of some sort.
“I did make it! Yay!”
She seems very proud of her jump.
“Excuse me… but who are you?”
Shinozaki asks, extremely confused by this girl’s behavior.
“Me? I’m traveling journalist Ichihara Kana~! A former idol of the Celestial Five~!”

Block N4L2 Lobby, Senate Terminal Arcology, Edokyuuria crater
Mikel Blaney was certainly relieved the moment he saw the door of the crowded elevator opened. Office workers of sorts in suits quickly rushed out to head back after their lunch break.
Verteran Lieutenant Mikel Blaney of Serpenteum’s special force that survived the abandoned orphanage compound. He left the military, traumatized and decided to move to Edokyuuria following a suggestion by a frenemy he met during the operation, Sakamoto Ryoma, who seems to be on a mission to protect a strange girl, Marissa.
After the flesh and gore mass covered the compound were turned into plantation, creating the Spiral Tree Speranta Anomaly. The expansion and the restructuring of the miraculum cells formed a tunnel, allowing them to the surface. It was most likely Akko’s doing, that’s what Marissa insisted on. The moment they arrive at the surface, the war has stopped as the plantation continues to infest the wasteland destroying most of the United Kingdom’s Aragami security drones on the field. At the same time a compound of unknown within the pollen of the tree cured the Teardrop plague. It was that moment when both sides ceases fire. The tree could be seen anywhere in the United Kingdom after all.
“If you ever quit, come over to Edokyuuria, I’m sure I can get something to work with.”
That was what Sakamoto said, as he went on the chopper.

Stepping out of the newly installed elevator of the Edokyuuria Arcology, holograms could be seen everywhere simulating sceneries of pre-war Edokyuuria. In other words, a metropolis that reaches even beyond the horizon. Blaney has never been to Edokyuuria, he has only seen the city from television and other United Kingdom entertainment programs such as anime.
Despite the hologram covered hallway, different shops and government departments have hologram advertisements on their own. Making the scenery rather complicated, busy and somewhat annoying.
He walks over to the information center, asking direction for the immigration office within the ministry of foregin affair block.

Getting off the train, arriving to foregin affair block. Instead of holograms, the wall of the seven stories tall lobby was made of some sort of reinforced glass. There was even a door to the outer ringed balcony outside, where restaurants and cafes reside.
Blaney checks his ticket, there was still some time until when he is required to show up in the front office. He steps outside as everything turns to white due to the strong sun’s reflection onto the crater sea that last interrestial war has created. A single surviving Arcology above a small landmass at the center of world’s largest crater, and lake. Half submerged ruins of the former urban district could be seen near the shore of the Arcology. Four massive bridges stretch out to the shadows barely visible on the horizon. The wind was rather strong today, the flags of MoonBucks and WcDonalds could be seen blown straight toward the north.
He took out his binocular from his bag, a parting gift from the military. He then looks towards the shadows on the horizon with it. It was just a bunch of half submerged ruins. No land, the crater was clearly bigger than he expected.
Just how many people died here?
He thought. Remembering the holographic pre-war images of the capitol. Edokyuuria was destroyed by a Valrassari WMD about 9 months ago. The sole surviving structure was the mainframe of the Senate Terminal, now remodeled to an Arcology, due to the decreased population.
How many people made it out alive? The idea of tens of millions being incinerated within seconds has gotten his hand to shake in fear.
He decided this was enough, as he put away his binocular, a young woman crashed into him, pushing him to the ground, dropping the serpenteum military grade binocular to the ground, cracking one of the lens. At the same time, she dropped her glasses.
“I’m so sorry!”
She immediately apologized as she got up from him. Blaney slowly sits up, trying to absorb what just happened. A woman probably in her 30s picked up his binocular, including the shattered pieces. She brushes her brown long hair aside as she looks for her glasses. She was wearing a somewhat XXL size coat that was clearly not her size… she is giving off this clumsy type of person feeling.
“Oh- um- It’s fine.”
Blaney replied as he stood up with the support of the handrail on the side. She picks up her glasses from the ground and quickly puts it back on as if it was some sort of disguise.
“Ehhh…. Ehhh.. umm… well…… Right…”
Looking at the unique binocular model, it had an insignia of a snake engraved.
She thought for a moment and answered nervously.
“Here’s my contact. I’m sorry, but I’m currently in a hurry…… I’ll pay for the repairs.”
“Huh.. well… It’s fine-”
Before Blaney could reject her offer, the young woman just pushed her business card into his hand.
“I’m soooo sorry!”
Her apology could be heard as she ran off into the distance, toward the parking eastern parking block.
“....well.”
He muttered as he turned to the card in his hand. It was something that looked like a supermarket discount point card. She must’ve mixed it up.
“Seriously... “
Blaney sighed and put the point card into his wallet.
He waited outside until it was about time to enter the warrant office. Checking his phone as he sat at the waiting area, trying ignore the discriminating stares from the Miotian elderly next to him. And some gossip from the Candorian girls behind him.
That’s right, despite both governments being willing to work together again, the scars of war obviously haven't been healed on either side.
Blaney felt their stare could and gossiping could crush him any moment, hoping for his queue number to be called soon.
“No. 235 Please come to front desk 04”
Blaney was relieved when he heard the announcement. He quickly picks up his bag and left for the counter.
Waiting for the office worker to finish copying his documents, Blaney looks up to the glass ceiling after a commercial airship passes by.
“An airship? That’s rare.”
The airship seems to be some sort of government advertisement. It had a simple display hanging below the hull. Posters of different politicians could be seen.
“Come to think of it, it’s almost time for the Miotia-Candor’s election.”
Blaney mumurred. As the blimp changes its angle, a certain candidate caught his attention. This young candidate was running for her second term. However, something about her looks seems to be familiar to someone he...
“Wait a minute.”

Yotsubishi Tanabe Pharma Akademe Hospital,Akademe-Stadt-II, Edokyuuria Crater
When she was getting off her car, her long brownish black hair was stuck, and curled up on her seat.
“Ack- That hurts.”
Mashiro mumurred after her first attempt to get off her car resulted in pulling her hair. Quickly untying them from the seat.
When was the last time she let her hair loose like this? She questions herself as she closes and locks the door. She then turned her attention at the small burnt and deformed mascot figurine hanging from the rear-view mirror. On the back of the mascot “6/4/2008 Celestial-5 Concert” was printed onto it.
“...”
After a long sad look at the mascot, she turns and walks toward the hospital entrance.

Following the nurse’s guidance, Mashiro arrives at room 014 at the local Yotsubishi Tanabe Pharma Hospital. Opening the door, the full special Tod division was already there. Graf, Hijikata, and Okita were already there talking and laughing as they played a sort of card game. Tatiana was on the patient bed staring out at the Edokyuuria crater lake like a doll.
“Who’s there!?”
Hijikasta asks immediately, turning toward the door as he drops his NoU cards. They obviously couldn't recognize her with her disguise.
Mashiro takes off her glasses after she closes the door with a big smile and said:
“It’s me Mar*o!”
“Give the 4th wall a goddamn break!” x3

“So you sneaked out… of your office again…?”
Okita asks as he shuffles the deck of cards for a new game.
“How rude! I came out here to ‘visit war veterans’ and gain supporters for the upcoming elections!”
Mashiro replied sarcastically before breaking into a giggle.
“Right. Right. You’ve got your priorities right.”
Graf agreed with an unconvinced tone.
“So how is she doing?”
She changes the topic and turns over to Tatiana, who is still staring out at the lake.
Silence quickly filled the room as no one wanted to answer.
“When she activated the stone, something caused the miraculum emulated neurons in her amygdala to change. Even good old war criminal Pure Gene Research Institution’s bioengineering copyright code has been messed up. If she did develop any emotion before the incident just like you people claimed, she must’ve lost it during it. ”
A voice could be heard from behind. The group quickly turned over to the door, realizing the doctor just entered.
“You are?”
Mashiro quickly puts on her glasses and asks.
“I’m Alfred Heller, the doctor in charge of her treatment.”
The man in his 40s claimed as he leaned on the door.
“A Heller… you’re the army minister-”
Hijikata muttered, he was quickly cut off.
“Nick? Yeah, he’s my brother.”
He explained with a smile.
Unlike the rest of the operatives, Mashiro felt uneasy. The combined ministry of defense led by Inaban Fuyu was short lived, independent military branches returned to their original command structure right before the start of the Serpenteum war back in May 2019.
Despite the navy under admiral Inaban continuing to support the democratic side, the army that has been getting their budget cut still mainly consist of the pre-civil war regime’s personnels. Not to mention how mysterious the airforce acts with their increased budget approved due to the ever growing threat down south. The only thing that prevented another coup after the both the Valrassari and Serpenteum war was the new ATHENA law enforcement system.
If anything, the army will want to get their hands on the miraculum cells research data to overthrow the evergrowthing military police due to the mass production of Aragami units under ATHENA.
This person, Alfred Heller is related to General Nick Heller. Has he gotten the data he wants from Tatiana? No.. this hospital has installed a stress scan…. Eh? What if Yotsubishi Corporation works with the army? Won’t that disable the stress scan within this building-
*beep*
“Eh?”
An alert came directly from Mashiro’s phone, cutting off her thought.
Even if it was just her imagination, the doctor seems to have slightly grin.
It was noticed from the ATHENA system, warning of her own stress level rosen by 4.34.
“Miss Mashiro?”
Hijikata asked after seeing Mashiro’s pale face for the first time.
“Yeah? Yeah.. sorry. It's something about work... “
Mashiro vaguely explained before packing up her belongings. She then walks over to Tatiana.
Tatiana turns over looking at her with the soulless eyes that resembles ones of a dead fish.
Holding her cold hands, Mashiro smiled as the sun shines into the room.
“How are you feeling?”
“...Who?”
She really doesn’t remember.
“Well, I’m Mashiro Fuyuki, nice to meet you, again.”
“Mahiro…”

“You’re going back already?”
Graf asks in slight disappointment, however he seems to understand. Mashiro walks to the door, passing by the doctor.
“Try to stay mentally healthy.. Young chancellor.”
The doctor creepily whispered as Mashiro passed by.
“You too... “
Mashiro replied without looking back at him.

Haruhabara-II, Edokyuuria crater
The capital of the United Kingdom’s anime and manga industry, Haruhabara has been rebuilt on a section of the reclaimed land just outside of the Arcology.
In the sea of electric cars, the was one that still runs on diesel.
“I don’t even know where we are going to find a gas station here if we run out of gas..”
Shinozaki complained as she drove. Marissa now with her hood on, covering her feline features is now looking at the new complex central district’s map.
“Shinyazaki. When you said Edokyuuria is a multilayer city hellscape, I didn’t expect this.”
Marissa complained, trying her hardest to assist Shinozaki in the rebuilt capital.
The unexpected guest, Ichihara Kana, a strange self proclaimed journalist started taking pictures of the scenery. Her face was full of curiosity like a child.
“Celestial five… isn’t that a famous university idol group that disbanded like 12 years ago after that certain terroris”
Shinozaki asks the childish but she was immediately cut off before she could finish.
“That’s not true! We’ve been traveling the nation performing lately!”
“Oh… is that so?”
Shinozaki replied, she isn’t much of an idol fan, its natural if she doesn’t know.
“Anyway where should we drop you off? We’re going to Haruhabara military police headquarters.”
Shinozaki asked as she made a turn to the indoor electronic street.
“Ummm, can you get me to Arcology entrance block N8L1?”
“No problem.”

URN Hakuhou N241, Naval Academy and Headquarters, Sieg-II
“She’s big.”
Inaban with a safety helmet commented on the Heavy aviation destroyer Hakuhou under construction.
“She surely is.”
One of her former students and New chief engineer Helena May next to her replied. They watch the second experimental nuclear reactor slowly being installed in the shipyard while other engineers are connecting the electric platings. A section of the CFRP hull is submerged in water to test the newly developed “Mask” device. One that generates bubbles to distract torpedo sensors as a last result.
As the two continue to admire the massive vessel, Inaban receives a phone call from the Naval Academy.
“Yeah?”
...
“What do you mean there’s a visitor from Feng standing in the front gate?”
Inaban left the shipyard and heads back to the academy to meet this unusual visitor.

“M’lady, it seems like the first fleet has left the naval academy. Your transport is also ready”
The butler walked into the office and reported to Hirosei Hana.
“Thank you, I’ll be there soon.”
Hirosei replied politely and returned writing her email. The Butler left the room and closed the massive fancy wooden door quietly.
Now she is alone again in her office. The sound of a pendulum at the corner could be heard clearly again.
“Now then… let’s have some fun shall we? Inaban? Heller?”
She smirked as she put her coat on and sent the email. Taking a folder with her, with the insignia of the Voluntas Company.

Walking out to the sunlight, a transport helicopter was waiting for her.
Just as she took the steps into the vehicle, the sky suddenly turned dark.
It was an Arsenal Ray passing by, heading toward the west, Frontera.
“Well, it’s time for us to go too.”
She murmured as the door of the transport closed. Showing the seal of the Chief Staff of the Airforce.

First Fleet, URN DDVN Hakuhou, Nautilus, Frontera Weather: Foggy
F-37 began to take off, scouting the area ahead as fully anti-submarine equipped Ashigara-class DDGs scout the DDVN.
“Well, who would’ve thought her maiden voyage would be like this?”
Captain Akima commented as he came back inside to the bridge from the fog.
“That can’t be helped. While our real goal is to smoke out what happened to that governor plane that was shot down in Mendenwall back in december can’t believe we’re doing it by sheer force…”
Inaban signed, fixing her admiral cap as she leaned on the wall. She backed away from the wall quickly, realizing the paint wasn’t dry.
“Great…”

Second Fleet and the 3rd Battalion, Trinada, Weather: Foggy
As landing crafts reached the beach, the URA and the URN could see that the Fronteran were clueless on what’s about to happen.
The occupation forces were able to make their way through the Fronterans capital like tourists. While many other Frontereans take pictures, videos, etc, thinking this is a parade of sorts.
“...I do believe they are missing the point”
One of the soldiers said.

As the occupation moved toward the capitol building, the streets were suddenly cleared.
“Where is everyone?”
Not before long, a battalion of unregistered classes of green and yellow Aragami Sentries marches out of the mist in uniform. Forming a blockade.

“What is the meaning of this!?”
Chief of Army Staff Nick Heller shouted through the SOOM call conference.

“Who are you people!?”
Doctor Boikin asked the masked agents who broke into the foundation facility.
The masks had no facial features other than a thin line for eyes and mouth.
They broke into the facility copying and stealing the database, then destroyed it.
“Our higher ups had enough playing nice and friendly with the ‘enemy’.”
One of them spoke before leaving the room through a collapsed wall.
“Our?”
The mysterious ‘thieves’ left, however there is more suffering to come. The United Kingdom’s military is slowly breaking into the underwater city via hacking into the lockdown system. Due to the fact not a single shot was fired yet from either side. Neither side dared to spark it.

Unknown forces, Underwater tunnels.
“Hurry up!”
The masked one in lead shouted, holding the door open for the rest of the team.
“To think we could’ve saved the entire database into three SSDs.”
“We must take it back as soon as possible. Who knows when the ‘enemy’ would strike?”
“Like now?”
A man’s voice could be heard from behind, they have been followed by someone.
Sakamoto Ryouma, of the Neo-Sphinx division of the SSS 3rd branch and his team were all aiming at the ‘thieves’.
“You gave us a flavor of retrieving the blueprint from the 8th branch. Which we’ve always been suspicious of. I’ll thank you for giving them a hard day. However, I don’t like killing brats, it really does recommend you to surrender and hand over the SSDs.”

“The 3rd branch!? So that means the United Royal Navy is here already…”
The shorter masked agent muttered in panic.
“Oh? You even know about the ties between the navy and the 3rd branch huh?”
Sakamoto replied, impressed.
“We’re not your enemy.”
The masked leader said.
“Perhaps, but that doesn’t matter, we have our orders.”
Sakamoto insisted.
“The true enemy is-”

“I’ll count to 3, before that, surrender to us.”
Sakamoto said coldly.
“1”
The masked agents did not move an inch.
“2”
The tension rises as mine exploding could be heard through the walls.
“3”
“We refuse.”
The leading figure of the masked agents shouted.
“Tsk.”
The thieves reminded him of Marissa’s stubbornness.
“Why does this dirty job include killing kids so damn much…”
Sakamoto muttered in regret as he gave the signal to fire.
One of the older masked agents rushed to the front and took out what looked like a rectangular shield, blocking the heavy fire.
“What- there’s no way she could’ve carried that-”
Before Sakamoto could react, another masked agent released paralyzing gas in the area.
“These- these are extinct equipment from the former reign-”
The oxygen tanks and masks were very quickly destroyed by something that looked like a red hot cutter knife.
“Damn you-”
The Neo-Sphinx Division quickly fell unconscious.

“Quickly! Get on the boat!””
The leader of the masked agents ordered as the fog gets even thicker on the surface.
“I can’t wait to get back home and tell everyone about our trip.”
The little seems excited.
The boat quickly departs and disappears into the fog, heading toward an ancient shadow.

“This is DDH Aoshima to DDVN Hakuhou, the 5th battalion has secured the underwater city and the 8th branch of the Yotsubishi Corporation.”
“This is DDVN Hakuhou to DDH Aoshima, secure to the central command center of the hospital, we don’t want anyone from activating the underwater fortress. That thing is the equivalent of Edokyuuria.”
Akima replied via transmitter as he looked out into the fog.
“Unde… sto…”
DDH Aoshima CIC replied, however the signal is getting weaker.
“?”
Suddenly the first officer Oriba Ooyama slammed open the hatch and called Akima back inside the bridge.
“We’re being jammed.”
“What!?”
“We’re being jammed. Sir!”
“What do you mean we’re being jammed!? We’re in goddamn Frontera!”
The next moment and explosion could be seen in the thick mist. Which shocked the entire fleet, the fighting has begun.

“All hands, Battlestation!”
Inaban ordered as Akima climbed down from the upper deck into CIC.
“What’s the situation!?”
Akima asked as he walked over to the radar officer.
“Sir, our FAF system has been hacked, every single ship and jet out there is labelled as hostiles-”
Before the officer could finish, an explosion shocked the entire ship.
“We’re firing at ourselves sir.”
“That’s impossible-”
He cut off and turned to Inaban, both nodding in agreement. It’s a backdoor in the program planned by Yotsubishi Corporation.
“Use morse, while we try the radio, I want every single jet and ship to switch to the preinstalled 2016 FAF right now.”
Akima ordered.

“So that’s why they wanted me on board…”
IT department chief sighed at the corner.

One by one the red spots on the radar slowly return to blue.
Everyone in the CIC sighed.
Akima quickly asked for a damage report, which turned out one F-37 destroyed and minor damage on the DDG Awoo.
“Well, it could be worse-”
Just when he thought the wave was over, a new blue dot appeared on the radar.
“There shouldn’t be anymore-”
Before the radar officer could finish, the radar data was mysteriously malfunctioning. Making the last blue dot appearing all over and there.
“Captain, you probably want to see this!”
First officer Oriba Ooyama called from the bridge.

Inaban and Akima quickly took the lift to the bridge. Upon arriving, other than the malfunctioning electronics, a massive black shadow could be seen in the distance.
“I don’t remember any landmarks here on the map.”
Inaban said as she went for a closer look with her binocular.

“This is really strange, it's like one of those phenomena in Kuzikistan sea, or what the Second Combined Fleet encounter during the Serpentuem war.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about Ooyama.”
Akima commented on the first officer’s muttering.
“Our tracking system won’t-”
“Incoming!”
Inaban shouted.
“Incoming? But missile won’t-”
Before the crew could react An explosion coming from the deck and DDG Fubuki could be seen.
“What was that!?”
Akima asked as he held onto the wall until the ship stabilized.
Looking out the window, DDG Fubuki’s superstructure has been completely destroyed, the vessel was on the verge of capsizing. DDVN Hakuhou’s deck sustained mild damage due to the double plat conduction armor she has.
“That’s no missile… that’s a goddamn naval gun!”
Akima shouted as he walked over to the center of the bridge.
The giant shadow approaches at a stunning speed that could rival Hakuhou’s.
As the mysterious vessel approaches, four twin 35.6cm caliber naval guns could be seen aiming at DDNV Hakuhou and DDG Awoo.
“It’s a Haruna-Class Fast Battleship, the one my father told me about.”
Tactical officer Hayato Amamori said in shock.
“A ghost ship.. huh?”
Oriba Ooyama suspects as he orders to have the four AGS-X target the unidentified battleship.
“All AGS-X prepares for HP rounds, we need to disable those 35.6cm or we’re good as dead!”

“You’re telling me that thing is a Haruna-Class? The one from the Kkhano war!?”
“Yes Captain, I’m sure of it.”
“It’s a hundred year old-”
The four 35.6cm guns on the Haruna-Class fired. The shockwave and fire from the guns could be seen breaking through the thick fog.
DDG Awoo broke into two and sank, for DDVN Hakuhou while the electric plating took most of the damage, more than half of the hanger was destroyed.
It was a direct hit.

“How the hell did their electronics work in this area?”
Ooyama asked as he tried to get up from the floor.
“Eyes. they’re using their eyes.”
Amamori answered calmly as he admired the ancient battleship passed by.

“Why aren’t we firing!?”
Akima shouted at the AGS-X gun mounts.

Inaban stood on the edge of the balcony, admiring the floating relic. Noticed a paint over of some sort of wolf-like logo.
The crew of the Hakuhou watches in silence and admiration as the FBB Haruna passes by, leaving the heavily damaged first fleet behind.

Slowly in the fog and mist, the flag of the Voluntas Private Military Company could be seen flying by the FBB Haruna.

Afterwards
The occupation of New Republic of Frontera and Mendenwall was successful. Edokyuuria launched an investigation of the crashed flight that carried a government corporation overseer of the Yotsubishi Corporation.
Furthermore, the URA has been putting pressure on the Fronterean government to finish their overdue works, ranging from internal governing to trade deals that should’ve been done back in mid 2019.
Other than the URF surrounding Fronterean ministries pursuing them to finish up their work, both Republics returned to their ordinary days.

The first fleet is rumored to be heavily damaged during the occupation, however the navy did not release any more information on the topic.

THE DENMARKIAN NEWS

[Support For Foster Families Increased

The government, with the full support of the lower house, (parliament) has put forth a new budget for the FFB (Foster Family Board) which sets the rules and guidelines for foster families, however, it also holds the budget which currently is around 34 Million DKK, and sadly, has seen its a fair share of cuts.

Whilst the cuts were in the monarchy era, where many kings saw foster families as nothing but unnecessary, and therefore without any real pushback, having the budget for them cut back dramatically, from around 145 Million DKK to then 60 million, to the final cut which is 34 million.

However, with the government’s new look, that the budget will pass, the estimated increase will be from 34 million to 723 million DKK, which will be increased every year, the large budget has many initiatives, one of them is to make more foster families, cause, whilst many wants to be one, it has always been seen as a one-person venture, with the government not helping in the slightest, however, now it hopes that with the message, that more will seek to apply for foster parenting.

The budget is expected to pass the lower house with no overall issues, however, whether or not there will be a debate is a whole other question in it of itself, whilst the intention to support current and future foster families are based on all-around good, it is yet to be seen that the money is used effectively and not just another Water Fountain scandal.

The Commonwealth of Arwindom

Ludlow, Province of Rossendam, 20th May 2020.
Live from Arwindom: Attempt on Her Majesty's Life

It had been reported that an assassination attempt occurred today on our Empress's life. Details are still being cleared up but from what we know at the moment an undercover three-vehicle convoy carrying the Empress as well as Mr. Andrew Harrison, Director of the Imperial Chancellery was heading through the municipal city of Ludlow when several shots were fired from the third floor of a nearby library using a 14mm anti-material rifle, followed by several sprays from automatic rifles. The shots disabled the SUV in which the Empress was travelling and made it come crashing into a nearby building, as well as wounding one and killing another one of its occupants.

The assailants have so far not been captured, but that won't be for long as the police have put the area surrounding the site on lockdown and several special forces units are combing through it to track and capture the culprits.

Her Majesty has been reported being in a stable position and recovering from a gunshot wound while Mr. Harrison was pronounced dead when two bullets struck his chest, killing him instantly.

There have been circulated rumours originating from footage from a nearby CCTV camera that Her Majesty actually pulled out a pistol and fired back at the assailants before being shot herself, however that remains unconfirmed.

Crisis Management Centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

The Commonwealth of Arwindom.

The three-vehicle convoy was speeding along the A3 motorway. There wasn’t much traffic as it was Wednesday, and as there is no set speed limit on motorways in the Commonwealth the cars were so far making decent progress without being obstructed. “You see, Andrew, one of the things I love about being empress in this particular country are the roads. Of all the possible ways to relax from all the government fuss road trips are among my personal favourites” – Her Majesty spoke somewhat melancholically while watching the colourful landscapes of Arwindom’s countryside dart past the window. “I mean, you most definitely have a point.” – Andrew Harrison, Director of the Imperial Chancellery answered in a similar, relaxed manner. “From what I can see, you’re enjoying your retirement from the NIS so far.”

Andrew was not just one of Her Majesty’s closest aides, but he was also one of her close friends whom she had known even before ascending the throne. It was for this reason that he was not worried about upholding the Royal Protocol as much as having some rest after supervising a tiring conference.

Unlike most other ruling dynasties around the world, the Commonwealth’s monarchs are known to prefer travelling discretely and without attracting too much attention. Instead of blocking off a road and having a grand motorcade travel gently down it, the Campbells prefer using undercover vehicles, swapping them after some time to make sure their whereabouts are not something disclosed to everybody. This was why on this spring day two colourful sedans accompanied a somewhat dirty SUV on its way to downtown Rossendam. A grand total of eight plain-clothed Royal Guards were deemed sufficient protection should things turn for the worse.
By this time the convoy was starting to slow down as it was entering the municipal city of Ludlow, notorious for nothing, really. As the cars went down Barre Avenue, the city’s main stree…

*BANG!*

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a shot rang out, hitting the SUV’s tire, followed by another and yet another one as the driver floored the pedal in hopes to dash out of danger the right wheel popped off and the car started swerving to the sides and drifted left, crashing into a barrier…

“BLOODY HELL!!!” – the Empress cried out, instantly scrapping the hundreds of years of tradition behind the Royal Protocol. She dived down under the seat and braced as the car came to a rough stop. The salon, shaken by cries, started filling up with thick black smoke. Before anyone could react, the rear left door swung open and Emily dived out of the car, drawing a pistol from one of her pockets while doing so. Before anyone could react, she slammed off the safety, cocked the gun and stood up behind the swung-open door, firing a tight volley of rounds in the direction of incoming fire. She was soon joined by the driver, who also bailed out and did the exact same thing as his Empress.
She lowered her gun and was reloading a new magazine when she was hit, in her right shoulder, and thick red blood started streaming down her overcoat. Red, royal blood. Emily kneeled down holding in the pain. As she did so, one of the sedans came to a screeching stop in front of her and four guards armed with submachine guns hopped out, rushing to their sovereign’s aid. What seemed like several long minutes actually unfolded in the space of a few crammed seconds.

Her Majesty awoke in an operating room of the Rossendam General Hospital. Surgeons and doctors in their light-grey masks kneeling over her, she tried to get up but couldn’t. The sharp pain in her shoulder pinned her down, and she wisely chose not to resist. After almost five years of working in the National Intelligence Service, it was not her first time getting wounded. For Arwindom, however, the picture was much, much different. This was unprecedented. For the first time in the young nation’s history, the life of its symbol and protector was attempted to be taken away.

“Mr. Harrison…” – Emily suddenly turned in her bunk, facing towards the doctors. “Is he alright?” But there was no answer. Two bullets came into the Director’s chest, and he could not be saved.

The Kohen and Of denmarkia

The Democratic Socialist State of Kjanu

The chamber of the National Council was in panic. The pristine marble stairs of seats were full of static council members, but on the central floor many engaged in loud discussion over the current situation. With Kin and Etsuyoki still in chaos, and the Kjanuan government in hiding, the UK had sent military forces to occupy Frontera and Mendenwall. The sudden use of the UK fleet and the lack of communication with the Kjanuan side of the kingdom had sent the National Council into disarray.
“We need to restore order to Kjanu and come out of hiding before the Miotians send their own troops to do it for us! If they come they will see our work and reveal it to the world.” A vocal member of the Prosperity Union argued.
An equally vocal member of the Kjanuan Socialist Party yelled back. “How do you propose restoring order to the coast? The only way to do so would be to unleash the very weapons you wish to hide for all to see!”
“Without action Kjanu is sure to fall to Jezabelstien without our allies' support. If we don’t control the narrative of the weapon our entire system will perish!”
“We will lose our allies when they see our peaceful nation created that monster!”
A loud thud boomed through the room and silenced the discussion.
“This debate has gone on for long enough.” Chairman Liu stated, his words echoed in the motionless hall, “We will activate the weapon on Kin. Councilman Chen, please tell Shimada to launch it.”
-----
Shimada returned to the dark headquarters of the National Reclamation Project with vigor. The bright screens illuminated the room with graphs of vitals and test results. “Everyone to control stations. Prepare to launch Unit 1 and send it to Kin.” Shimada said as he sat down at his computer.
Murmurs of surprise filled the room, Min-ji, one of the head developers of the project responded vocally. “Sir we only finished it two weeks ago, we don’t even know if it will fire! We can’t release it without further tests.”
“We have a direct order from the National Council. We will release Unit 1 to Kin and have it return before the sun falls.”
“But sir!”
“Launch it. If we don’t now we will never get the chance.”
The voices of opposition gradually quieted down and the scientists sat down and began to work on the launch proceedings. A countdown began on the window in front of them, and Shimada took a key from his pocket and prepared to use it.
“Power being routed to Unit 1. Activation in 5. 4. 3. 2. 1.”
The countdown on the window faded away to reveal a giant robotic skull, with one grey unblinking lens making up the whole face. Shimada turned the key and the room went entirely dark as power went into the machine. The grey eye slowly turned a bright blue, and the weapon was launched up above the ground. Power returned to the control room and a screen showing a camera feed from the surface was brought forward. The empty city square parted as a giant steel doorway opened up, and the machine was standing in the middle of the platform. Its shape was exaggerated, its long legs were taller than the small apartments around it, and its lanky arms nearly touched the ground. In the thin torso, a large spinning reactor rotated rapidly around a small glowing white sphere. The blue eye of the beast looked blankly forward.
“All systems operational, Unit 1 is awaiting command.” Min-ji said
“Send Unit 1 off to Kin, automated. We can assume direct control once it reaches the city.” Shimada responded.
“Sir!”
Min-Ji typed on her computer, and suddenly the machine snapped its head. It crouched down on the ground, its gargantuan body still as tall as the highest buildings, and suddenly sprinted into the jungle surrounding the city. The beast's arms swept the ground as it’s upper body brushed through the trees.
Sung-min, awe-struck by the screen spoke quietly under her breath. “I still don’t think Unit 1 is a deserving name.”
-----
The city of Kin was dark and quiet as the sun set along the ocean’s rim. The university complex square flew the Kjanuan flag, and the city around it was in chaos. Skirmishes between the university's red army and the various factions of the city combined with the city fighting Kjanuan efforts to restore order had depleted the scant amount of resources left in the town. Unit 1 arrived on the outskirts of the empty city. The towering machine looked onto the empty town, where few recognized its shape in the distance.
“Unit 1 has arrived in Kin, what’s the order?” Sung-min asked.
Shimada responded without a direct answer. “The university is still under the dean’s control, yes?”
“According to our sources, yes, though their situation has worsened significantly in the past weeks.” Another scientist responded.
“Good. Activate the core on the downtown area, be sure to avoid the city proper.”
Sung-min could barely mutter a response. She began typing into the computer, and the beast began to move closer to the city. It came to a stop on the hill overlooking the ruins and the reactor began to spin faster, rotating around the glowing particle with vigor. As the reactor spun faster and faster it began to let out a roar that grew louder and louder until it was deafening over the city. Those within Kin looked up on the hill and saw the towering beast standing motionless in the distance, and the blinding glow from its core grew brighter and brighter until it shone over the entire coast. The reactor continued on its path to destruction, the light brighter, the spinning faster, the noise louder. It’s energy grew as the sun set on the already dead city.
And then it all crashed down.
A loud snap rang. Everything surrounding the metallic entity was blown away, trees crashed into the ground as others blew into the sky. The glowing particle expanded its rays outwards across the whole horizon, and suddenly contracted into a centralized point in the center of the town. The ray of light turned into a beam of pure white flames that burned through the entire city in a perfect circle. The beast began to crumple to the ground, its limbs falling back as its reactor focused on the city. The ocean behind the weapon’s path of destruction exploded into the sky, crashing over the untouched corners of the town, washing clean the rubbled city. The beast exploded in a ball of light, the back catching fire as it fell backwards, the beam of light piercing the sky before it shrunk back into a small ray, then nothing. The reactor in the center slowed around the glowing ball, and the bright blue eye turned into grey. The beast sprawled on the hill, its body crumpled on itself in a flaming heap. The town was nothing more than a great crater with water flowing in from the ocean over the ruined flats of the city. The nearby college was fine, the square filled with water but the buildings otherwise undamaged.
In the control center faces of shock filled the room. Shimada pierced the silence, “Order a pickup team from Huklan-4. Send the drones into every city in anarchy.”
The response was immediate, with the room turning from silence to action in an instant. Shimada turned to Yijun, President Karugama’s messenger. “Tell the President the Project was a success, and to ask the council for materials for Unit 2 and repairs on Unit 1.”
The messenger nodded and left the room.

The train's confines pushed against Rosie's nerves, her hands holding tight about her dull grey travel bag with shivering fingers, all at odds with her stoic expression.
She glanced out the window to the receding sunlight, lights of distant cities slipping by through gaps in the tall jungle canopy, she counted the occupied seats again... three people, no threats.
As her tired hands relented grasping at the bag a sudden stalling flowed through the train, the lights dimmed and the transit slowed for one scant moment, the other passengers seemed undisturbed but Rosie's heart felt constricted and tight, 'It was probably nothing... you'll get some sleep at the safe house.'
The closing hour of the journey was torturous, leaving her in a mild sweat as she stepped onto the smooth white platform on the outskirts of Jhanthu, with a quick glance she assured herself that nobody was following, grasping her travel bag firmly as she walked down the stairs to the illuminated path below...

JNV Eternity's End
Bethany rested heavily against the railing, her dull grey flight -deck jumpsuit flecked with oil and marked with mild burns, she took another long drag from her cigarette and stared at the still black waters, she longed for a breeze, a bird, a distraction...
Eventually the cold metal felt uncomfortable enough to shift her from her slumped posture, taking a moment to stretch out and brush her brown hair aside before slowly plodding down the side of indomitable battlecruiser.
The battery of heavy anti-aircraft cannons sat illuminated by the lights projected from the tower, sweeping floodlights trailing across the ocean for purposes unknown, picking a place between two of the 104mm flack guns she once more settled to resting her weight on the railing, watching the beams of light with disinterest.
She watched long enough that she made a small game out of guessing the search pattern, before a sudden flash illuminated the distant coast, her attention draw to the brilliant shaft of light emanating from inland.
Quiet chatter and rushing footsteps filled out above and behind her, hundreds of people piling out of the deep metal confines of the warship to gaze at the strange ethereal light, the sky shattered under the beam and a crash rumbled all the way out to the Eternity's End.
"Was that us?" a confused sailor called out, "It didn't look like ours?" someone shouted back, but all eyes remained locked until the light finally faded, the night resuming its quiet stillness.

I'm back!

Neyde spears kingdom

The Alpine Kingdom of The Soviet state of Svalbard

“Uncle Stanstead, you wanted to see me?”
“Yes Rioeste, come inside if you please” Her royal majesty, Rioeste Dar Hakoen was not one to louse about a palace all day living off tax payer money: she was assertive and active and had planned to take a trip to the Trondelang International Library and Musuem today to read up on the Terror period of Svalbardian history. However, a small wrench was thrown in her plans when a text from her uncle, Stanstead Hakoen, popped up on her phone, asking her to see him at the local Astrologican church. Stanstead was a very religious man - the Astrologican religion was rare in Svalbard; and rarer still was it to find a man as devout to it as Stanstead - he was the Solisté at the Astrologican church in Trondelang, which was still seen as the most significant location in the Astrologican world, despite the religion mostly migrating to Vetsermark in the Nordic Democratic Republic.
As Rioeste pushed aside the towering oak double doors and entered the cathedral, her eyes were assaulted by a wide array of sights: the floor was made of cleanly dusted and swept marble; so bright it seemed to bounce light all around the room; the sides of the floor were flanked by rows upon rows of benches where people would have sat down to listen to the Solisté of the church speak, however there were now far mores spaces than people due to the decline of Astrology in Svalbard between the 1600s and 1800s. Stalking these seats were a wide variety of breathtaking stained glass paintings on the walls and ceiling, displaying different Zodiac constellations performing acts from Astrologican legend; and finally at that back of the room there was an altar from which the Solisté would speak, and behind it was, naturally, the mark of any Astrologican church and of the religion: the 13 Zodiac signs assorted as they usually were, with Sagittarius in the middle, surrounded in a circle by Taurus, Virgo, Aquarius, Scorpio, Libra, Pisces, Leo, and Aries; with Capricorn above then all, whilst Gemini and Cancer were on the left and right respectively, and finally Ophiuchus engraved on the floor.
Rioeste gradually walked down the central alley, admiring all the stained glass paintings as she went, until she reached the altar at the back of the church where her uncle was waiting.

“Uncle Stanstead, it’s so good to see you again!”
Despite her usual poker face and blank demeanour, Rioeste couldn’t help but smile at her uncle who she hadn’t seen for over a decade; whilst running up to him for a hug.
“And you too my little Rioeste! Well, actually looking at you now I can hardly call you little can I? What with how much you’ve grown and that crown on your head and all” Stanstead Hakoen was an older man with a kind face, despite the years of age that were set in it. Like his niece, his murky green eyes seemed to be holding back secrets you didn’t know about. His dark grey hair, which looked like it was put together in a frantic rush, was an indicator of his eccentric personality, despite his short stature. The long robes he wore was a clear sign of his status as Solisté.
“How are you getting on, with that, I mean” He made a gesture indicating the small crown tilted at a slight angle always worn by the queen of Svalbard. Upon this question being asked, she tightened up and suddenly took a keen interest in the floor of the church. After seemingly successfully examining the it, she took her crown off and held it in both hands, staring into it as she responded.
“It... still feels like it’s someone else’s - my dad’s. I don’t think I really was ever ready for the responsibility like he was.” When Rioeste was done, Stanstead encouragingly put his hand on Rioeste’s shoulder, getting her to look him in the eyes before responding.
“You think your father was ever ready? Or his father? We can never be truly ready for the responsibility we will inevitably hold, but strength comes through accepting it and upholding our duties to other people”
“W-wow, that’s actually very encouraging, thanks Stanstead...”
“Oh please, it’s my pleasure to help people, especially my family”
“Anyway, you got me to come here for a reason didn’t you? Or was it just a prank?” Remembering the purpose of their meeting, Stanstead’s face became solemn and dark, as he turned around to face the diagram-like symbol at the back of the church
“Yes, yes; now Rioeste, you obviously remember the Terror and the Troubles from history class, don’t you?”
“Of course (what a coincidence, that’s what I came here to study in the first place).
“Excellent; then as you should know there were numerous causes for the collapse of the Trondelang Republic, which led to those two events: rising authoritarianism; shortsightedness of the Solistés; overconfidence in the republican military; and so on. Well, we Astrologican theologians believe that these causes also had one root cause...”
“Well, what is it?”
“It all relates...” Stanstead indicated to the thirteen Zodiac signs behind him “To these. You see, just like people, corporations, and nations, the Zodiac constellations have power - a lot of it. The problem with this is, as cheesy as it may sound, is that with great power comes great responsibility; as having this power leads to an innate desire to have more power: greed, as it’s more commonly known. We hope that most powerful entities do not give in to greed, but sadly, many of them do: people blindside others for their own benefits; corporations abuse their workers for higher profits, nations start wars for their own gains; and the Zodiacs, well, they hold the balance of the universe together, and when one of them becomes greedy, that balance falls apart. The first time that happened was in 1636: as Trondelang fell the world entered a period called the Age of Absolutism: a period of time when the absolute monarchs and dictators of the world exercised absolute and total domination over the people of the realms they ruled over. This led to a halting in scientific and societal progression as kings, queens, and emperors were far too busy living their best life to care about advancing civilisation. This period of stagnation and abuse of power, we believe, came from the takeover of the Taurus Zodiac. It was eventually contained, however the havoc it caused set up the very next greedy Zodiac: as Kkhano swept through the remnants of this age, the people of the world were all too happy to bend the knee and accept Kkhanoese rule, as it could only be better than what they has been forced to suffer by absolutists - rampant conformity and I obedience was the result of the dominance of Libra, and it was only stopped when Kkhano was contained.”
“I... think I understand. But why are you telling me this, what’s the significance?”
“Ah yes, I told this to the members of the church this morning, but I believe it is something you should know too. I, along with other Solistés, have sensed an imbalance in the Zodiac; we believe one is attempting to take over from the others, upsetting the balance of the world for a third time” Rioeste pondered on these words for a while, but with nothing to say, she kept quiet - all the better as Stanstead had something else to tell her. “And, this is something I haven’t told anyone yet, as I felt I should tell you first, but, I feel that this upset of the balance will affect you personally” At that, Rioeste looked up at Stanstead, fear running through her veins, although you couldn’t tell from her expression
“How so?”
“That, I cannot tell, but I will advise you to be cautious from now on”
“I see, thank you for telling me this, uncle Stanstead”
“I’m sorry that our reunion had to end on such a sour note; do you want to go get a coffee to make up for it, or something?”
Sure thing, I know the best places in the city, just you wait and see.”
Rioeste said that with a wink, but despite the distraction the sinking fear of what she had been told was nagging at the back of her mind for the rest of the day, and would continue to be for many days after.

New Republic of Frontera Trinada
It had all gone wrong, Ophelia was left clutching at the deep wound upon the young woman upon her shoulder as gunshots scattered screaming crowds, Miotian drones lingering overhead watching the quick retreat of the heavily robed figures from the steps of the government building.
She kept her head down with the moaning girl still weighing upon her, gunshots echoing and siresn blaring as a heavy truck barged through a historical landmark, scattering the stone to the winds upon its bulk.
Forced inside by the woman behind her, falling heavy on the metal floor as the wounded was dragged deeper into the recesses of the modified Croc, Ophelia didn't bother looking up as the heavy steps of the other women crashed down about her head, before finally one of them dragged her clear of the door as it slammed shut behind them.
There was only silence for the longest time, the shouts, screams and gunfire taking place outside the behemoth's bulk were muted and dull.
Eventually one of the other girls spoke out, "We failed..." drawing Ophelia's attention to the still struggling figure laid out and tied down upon the barely padded bed, "But they weren't supposed to..." Ophelia interjected, only to be cut short herself by the firm voice of the sisterhood matriarch, "Your failure to adapt has proven... inadequate for this trial, you will be reassigned to somewhere more... fitting."
With a heavy heart all Ophelia could bring herself to say was; "Nuts..."

The monorail eased into the station, the dark-dressed Ophelia stepping off to the empty platform overseeing the rows upon rows of hedges, all flanked by well-kept rose gardens surrounding the immense central manor.
A quiet sigh, a hung head, the defeated girl slowly made her way down the long staircase to ground level, soft shoes brushing through the grass as she dragged out her arrival as much as she could stomach.
But in the end, she arrived at the ornately styled wooden door, it opened for her and she was quickly spirited inside by a small group all wearing the same black dress with white petticoat, Ophelia didn't resist and soon found herself several floors down, deposited in a concrete-walled floor with the smell on incense hounding her.
Unceremoniously dumped into a hardened bunker with a single bed lined up against its wall, she dropped her bag and collapsed into the soft silken mattress with tear-filled eyes.
