Andean Mountains, Cymiopolis
Car was driving fast through a forest, climbing high to the plateau. Rafael Beltrán Fuentes didn’t see nothing new in the surrounding, when driver told him that they just crossed new territory border.
-Won’t we have any border control, Javier? I know that Cymiopolis are nicest people I’ve ever talked with, but still..
Driver laughed and looked in the mirror with smile
-Senor, we are keeping low profile. What did you expect? Watchtowers with machine gunners and fence with barbed wire?
Rafael didn’t like intonations of a driver, who understood by himself that he was going to cross a border in their relationships.
-I mean, senor, we have badass rockets aiming all possible entry points, landmines and drone surveillance that won’t let cucaracha jode mama cucaracha without us getting total HD picture of that. It’s not that much to make local gobierno worry a bit, but it is overkill for local competitors.
Suddenly car window started vibrating.
-Javier, are there some earthquakes?
-No, senor, it is our ultimate achievement – underground rail road, so we can detach few rail wagons and bring them here without foreigners to warry.
-How the hell do you that much, cabron?
Driver became deadly serious, he looked even insulted.
-Senor, being your driver gives some privileges. Mine security level is good enough to know such things.
-So it is higher than mine, because I didn’t know that much.
They both giggled like a schoolboys, with no distance between senor and worker. It was the thing Cartel worried about – employees should feel like family members until it interferes with work obligations.

They’d passed forest and saw something, reminding logistic hub. There were hangars, warehouses and building all around, some of them still under construction. Every inch of space was used properly, with small red sea of poppy fields shining under the sun at the mountain’s side. Far away were plains and spaceships and people were popping around. Some of them were driving minibuses, someone of foot, some were driving standard container trucks. Latter were busy around train Rafael heard earlier. Small rail crane operated fast, loading cargo containers from a train platform onto the trucks. They drove through this petite town, which reminded them anthill.

Supply chain area was left behind and they drove to the main zone. There were no signs, no traffic lights and yet Javier knew where to drive. Main zone consisted of barracks, training polygons and manufacturing areas. Barracks were low, seismic proof buildings, four floors high. There were trees and relax areas, where people in civilian suits were sitting next to people in uniform, drinking beer, playing chess or doing a workout. Everything reminded modest, but still very comfortable campus. They stopped near main building and Rafael went out of car into heat of Cymiopolis sun. This sun was just perfect for plants used in their manufacturing processes, like coke or poppy.

Building was a bit higher than all others, consisting of 6 floors. Rafael looked around and noticed lots of CCTV cameras, reinforced windows and holographic projectors. Former caught his attention – they were nonstandard, definitely Cartel produced. Their designation remained unclear to him. He shook his head, puzzled, and walked in.
An impressive white hall was what he saw. It was going all six floor high, making unusual for Cartel waste of space. It looked like old, 20 century, business centers. And with all these people in suits it was definitely one. There was no information and no reception there, so for a moment Rafael was confused, but then he saw a woman calling him by name.
-Senor Fuentes! Encantada! Name is Lucy and I would be happy to answer your questions, but we are in hurry, so let’s talk on the move.
Before he could even responded, she went away on her. Sounds of her high heels left no place for a doubt – she was a Sicario and definitely high level one…
-Senor Fuentes! You can stare at me on the move as well! As I said, we are in hurry.
He followed Lucy and tried not to stare, although it was hard for him. So he speeded up a bit and walked little ahead.
-So, Lucy, report me current status of ops.
-100% of production capacity on. 88% of logistics capacity operational. Research labs are not yet showing results, but you know these geeks – they need their time. Recently we had an reinforcements of business unit from PRISM, so legal front is fully operational and ready to expand.

They’ve stepped in elevator. Rafael noticed, that there were 20 floors displayed. Lucy pressed four buttons so quickly that Rafael was not sure what exactly she had pressed. Light in elevator went off, then came back red. Elevator started to falling down, or at least it felt like this. Rafael saw smile on Lucy face and tried to hide his fright. Then everything stopped falling so suddenly as it had started. Doors opened and revealed CC – command center.
All walls were full of screens, people in AR goggles were standing near holographic map at the center. Everyone stayed near his workstation and nobody reacted to Rafael and Lucy’s arrival. Then one of the guys next to holographic blueprint of some rocket noticed them and shouted.
-Hurrah for commander!
Everyone responded with hurrah, saluting Rafael.
-I’m glad to work with such people. Some of you know me, I know some of you. For these whom I had not met before – my job is words and speeches, but it is my job. If your job is not the same, do not ever try to convince me of something false, I’ll smell that from your skin. I stand for quick promotions… and work life balance.
Public exploded with laugh – this joke was never getting old in Cartel. Life is job, but job is life. Rafael raised his hands, asking colleges for silence.
-Before we start my welcome fiesta, I need to do another statement, serious one. We are beginning of new era for Cartel. Since that borracho Drake attacked us in Panama, we never had a base that large this side of Atlantic. We are of greatest importance to our Enterprise and I want you to understand it. And you have to understand that we will surpass anything this puta vida can offer us!
People stood in silence and then Lucy start applauding. Soon everyone followed and shouts “Viva Cartel! Viva Rafael!” were all around. Another moment everything stopped and people returned to their workstations and Lucy started explaining Rafael how exactly Ops Map could be real time and other necessary for him explanations. As for senor Fuentes… He was thinking of that pretty round ass, which beheaded his predecessor after forcing him to eat his own fingers. Hermosa Muerta they called here and he knew why she was sent to welcome him.
