Today marks two years since the Russo-Ukrainian War has escalated to a full-scale invasion and nonstop meat grinder with hundreds of thousands people killed in one way or another. As the chaos unfolded, millions of civilians fled their homes, to an extent cities stood half empty in silence broken only by the air raid sirens and sounds of explosions from anti-air defense, enemy missiles and artillery fire. Majority of people had really tough time trying to cope with constant feeling of impending doom. Some moved out further west to a safer parts of the country, while others preferred to leave altogether. For those who remained, there was no choice but to adapt. Thankfully, with the help from the Allies, air defenses have quickly improved in technology and strength, thus countless lives were saved. The weapon shipments in the first year made Ukrainian army much stronger than it was before the war, so the enemy got significantly pushed back and many towns were liberated. While the civil life was preserved at almost prewar level thanks to impressive infusions of funds. Yet tactics were changing, the enemy has adapted as well, and the general attrition started to set in, not only in Ukraine but also for the international community that slowly switched attention to other dangers or got stalled by Russian influence from within. At this point majority is tired of war, and people grow ever more depressed, yet there is no peace in sight: on one hand too big of a price has already been paid for the independence and there is no desire to admit loss or give away the lands that became gigantic burial grounds and a monument to national resistance, until there remains a slightest chance to turn things over, and on the other side there is an enemy that has much larger goals and desires akin to the empires of the ages bygone. Nonetheless, whatever happens next, I'm confident that the support we received from the governments of allied countries all this time, and various aid from ordinary people who simply wanted to help because it felt like a right thing to do, won't be forgotten.
