Imperator Konsul Leo I. sat together with the Generalstab (General Staff), when he recieved word from New vedan. The fact that Alice was taking their side was the first good news for hours, although the fact that there seemed to be a civil war in New Vedan now, with Alice's predecessor supporting the Compact, made the situation more difficult to assess. The General Staff had decided to ask the Reichstag to vote on a level two mobilisation, which would allow the Imperial Armed Forces to draft up to two billion reservists. With one quarter of the fleet already entangled in the South Sea, the question was how many reeinforcements to send. The danger of a Southern counter-attack on the Imperial homeland was regarded as low, for now, but the General Staff was wary of exposing the Imperium too much. Mobilising another fleet of similar strength as the one that was already fighting was well within the capabilities of the Marine, but would require two weeks of additional time. Two weeks which they didn't have. The enormous distance to theater in the South meant that logistics were the key disadvantage of the Imperials, and only the Raumwaffe was capable of reaching the enemy quickly enough. But they had, with the R44 aerospace superiority fighter, only tactical assets, and not in large enough numbers to turn the tide of the entire war by themselves. Thus, the Imperium would have to rely on a cunning strategy, their allies from Custadia and the distraction caused by New vedan joining the battle. Cianlandia would also mobilise and aid their allies, but their ships would also take weeks to join the fight. Loftegen 3 could aid the Imperium with their long range bombers, but their preference for nuclear attack threatened to escalate the war even more. Leonism, you might be especially interested in this post. The Hippies had reached a breaking point a few weeks into their stay in Mzeusian waters. Aggressively patrolling Mzeusian waters and deciding what to do with their future had taken its toll on the hippies. They were not used to expending so much of their energy on the weighty matters that now lay before them. To combat this growing feeling of impending doom, they sent a group of hippies to Mzeusia itself, and after asking some wary locals, they found the nearest shop that sold Leonist Muesli, for they had heard that it was one of the better types of muesli in the world. The hippies bought as much as they could carry and hauled it back on board. After sampling much of the food, they reached a unanimous decision to declare it delicious. The hippies were happy for now. The attack by the northern forces couldn't have come at a worse time. The fleet was unprepared. All throughout Greater Catarapania's docks, men were scrambling, loading supplies, and generally preparing for action. Finally, however, the fleet was ready. Greater Catarpania's finest warships set sail. A pair of Argus class theatre supremacy cruisers lead the way, their oversized radars allowing them to control the battlespace from horizon to horizon, and blind radar-guided munitions. A pair of Manticore class arsenal ships, bristling with hypersonic anti-ship missile cells, followed in their wake. Accompanying these were four Typhon class aircraft carriers and two Leviathan class arsenal ships with anti-air and ABM missiles. Surrounding the capital ships was a veritable flotilla of lesser craft: six light cruisers, twelve destroyers, and eighteen anti-submarine frigates guarded the waters around the capitals, making their way for the Cossack Strait. Reinforcements were coming for the Compact. Steadfastness, Fluffiness, Glorious society, Leonism, and 1 otherCossack Peoples |
"Marcus?'" Beka said, "You know I love you." "Yes?" Marcus replied. "And that I've committed myself to you forever?" "Tell me," Marcus said, "I want to hear it from you." "I am about to become extremely angry," Beka said. Marcus feared for the poor bastard who had upset his wife... Fluffiness, Leonism, and Cossack Peoples |
The Czaslyudian Federal Republic of Cossack Peoples Alexei Kutznetzov, even after the first battle the FRCP had been in for decade, was hit by a swarm of paperwork once solid reports had been sent back to the Department of War. As the current commander of the entire Cossack Eastern Fleet, he was required to fulfill much more paperwork than he was used to. As the fleet from Leonism retreated and skirmishers delayed them for minutes longer, the Counter-Admiral had hardly enough time to accept new paperwork and simultaneously order the fleet not to pursue. If nothing else, the Federal Republic will be remembered for its cumbersome bureacracy. He thought. Some of the paperwork was necessary; casualty reports, munition inventories. Alexei handed them off to be answered by his inferior officers. He already knew how many ships they’d lost; out of the original fleet that Kutznetzov had brought in excluding submarines, they had lost an obscene amount of corvettes, sunk or fatally wounded all of the Udaloy-Class Destroyers, sunk two of the seven Phoenix-class destroyers, and, of course, the Timofeyevich was annihilated within moments of being hit. The late Admiral-of-the-Fleet’s reinforcements included twenty foreign cruisers and the rest of the foreign destroyers, a new squadron of 41 Cossack-made (16) Destroyers and (25) Frigates, and the rendezvous of Lobanov-Class attack submarines. Of those, nine frigates had been smashed of various overkill means, 10 destroyers of Custadian counter-fire, and four cruisers obliterated from the heavy guns of Imperial battleships. Out of approximately 135 surface vessels, they had lost 68 ships, thankfully a large majority of them being corvettes. The munitions of the fleet was also depleted; the battle would not have lasted that much longer without resupply. Alexei made note of that and would need to request to return to Korf and rearm. Meanwhile, outdated and outmatched Su-57 and MiG-35 fighters doggedly engaged Imperial R44 fighters in a hail mary attempt to counter the rearguard action; the results were crashing in pieces to the surface of the water. How does your first war feel, Alexei? Glorious and awesome in its scope, like the propaganda? Or full of sweat and dreariness? Edit; casualties received from Custadia are hereby officially retconned as no combat has occurred with them yet. Aigania, Steadfastness, Fluffiness, and Leonism |
"Leo of Leonism You son of a @#$%^," Beka shouted at the sky. "What are you, afraid to fight a nuclear war? I have colleagues...friends...who are dead now, who gave their lives so your sorry ass could live, and this is how you repay them? Come down here and fight me. I'll wring your %^&*(() neck with my own bare hands." |

The Mesmerising Meloncholy of Honeydewistania Hello everyone! |
On the new flagship of the South Sea Fleet, Admiral I. Klasse Ludwig Ehler was studying the casualty reports. He was still uncertain of his decision to withdraw from the battle, as the Compact seemed to run low on missiles and especially the Cossack Fleet had taken a heavy beating. While the ISS Souverän was sinking, Ehler still had four combat ready battleships and over a dozen Perzen class heavy cruisers. It was remarkable how these two seemingly outdated designs, based mainly around naval artillery guns, had fared comparably well in this battle. The smaller Bremen class corvettes and the larger Pilum class missile cruisers had fared the worst. Two Dominator class carriers, prime targets for the Compact, had also been sunk. The Skylancer class frigates, possibly Ehler's most valuable assets, had all survived the battle largely unscathed, although the Fliegenfänger had lost most of its weapons. When Raumwaffe scouts relayed new reconnaissance footage of Compact reinforcements from Greater catarapania, Ehler knew he had made the right decision. Withdraw, regroup, assess. The Imperium and its allies would ultimately have to win the war, not just one battle. Looking again at the casualty reports and comparing them with the casualty assessments for the enemy fleet, Ehler was sure that this First Battle of the Strait had been a draw, or even a phyrric victory for the Compact... The Blessed Kingdom of Custadia Aboard the BIS Resolve, a Strenst class carrier, Admiral Luszak addresses sailors throughout the fleet now assembled in the North of the Strait. He tells them that the heroic sacrifices of the Leonists have left the Compact on the ropes and that now they must steam South to finish their good work. Further North still, in Custadia, a fleet equal in size to that now storming the strait is being assembled. Ten army groups are making ready and the Custadian airforce is on high alert. Taking in the situation that the world found itself in, Sirakles Tylosis could only sigh. "So," he said to his gathered staff, "The world's at war again. What are the mercenary groups saying about this?" There are several mercenary groups in Mzeusia. They are legally prohibited from fighting for certain governments or any organisation classified as terrorists, and the more well known and populous groups have agreed to abide by this. Mzeusian mercenaries have been involved in most of the recent wars in Lazarus. "The Band of Wolves have officially declared neutrality. The Kangaroos have agreed." "And what of the smaller companies?" Sirakles said in between sips of tea. "Most neutral, a few offering their services. Nothing to be concerned about." "Good." Sirakles stood. "We can discuss the situation further after I've made my broadcast." A few minutes later, Sirakles Tylosis once again broadcast to Lazarus. "It is with deep sadness and regret that I have the need to speak to you. A few select governments across Lazarus, despite many warnings against this, have decided to go to war. I wish to remind everybody wherever you may be, that my invitation to come Mzikos for talks still stands. If your government is involved in this war, it is only to the detriment of themselves and to you. Lazarus has seen war countless times. It is an ancient dance and we all know the outcome. Blood, death and tears. Do you want to see your parks filled with single parent families? Do you want to see the queues in the shops devoid of your country's young men? Do you want to look across your dining table at that empty chair where your father, brother or son used to sit, because let me tell you now, that chair will be empty. That man will not be coming home. He will not be coming home only because those at the top of your government could not come to an agreement peace. They chose not to fly to Mzikos. I suppose the thought of jet lag was to much to stomach, so instead, they let your relatives stomach something else...bullets. I could continue describing the inevitable futures that every nation involved in this will face. I could reel off statistics of the dead men from past wars. I could tell you that casualties for this war may well be far higher than of those conflicts already over. Would there be any point in that? You, the average citizen, understands all this. You are however, not powerless. I call on all citizens of the countries embroiled in this new war, to write to your government and help put a stop to this in whatever way you can. Remind your government that if the soldiers they send to war can risk it all braving a hailstorm of bullets and shells, surely they can make the flight to Mzikos." Steadfastness and Fluffiness |
