Ukraine
In the territories of Donetsk and Lugansk, during the first week the battles between the contingent of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Army of Novorossia still lasted. Ukrainian soldiers, having lost contact with the Kyiv General Staff (which doesn't exist in this reality) and supplies, very quickly lost their organization and quickly scattered across the territory of Donbas.
Most of the UAF infantry divisions in full force surrendered to the DPR and LPR armies, fleeing food problems and their aggressive nationalist colleagues.

Trying to cope with the global anarchy that arose in Rostov, Volgograd and other large cities, martial law was imposed in all controllable federal subjects and curfews were announced.
The Rostov NPP, as a strategic object, received special attention - an entire infantry regiment of the RF Armed Forces was allocated for its protection.
Armed police patrols were sent to the streets, and a medium-sized military contingent (250,000 soldiers, 200 MBTs (T-72), 200 BTR-60, 100 BTR-80) was introduced at the northern borders to protect against “the possible consequences of a nuclear apocalypse” (including mutants, yeah).
An interim government of the surviving federal subjects of the Russian Federation, the Special Committee for the Defense of Russia, was formed in Rostov-on-Don, which becomes the new capital of new Russia. Decrees and instructions in case of a lack of strategic resources and food have already been issued.

in Ukraine an odd happening occurs, the eastern end, part of the Ukrainian SSR, the Russian SSFR and parts of Transcaucasia have vanished, entire armies lost and communications via the corridor cut between Moscow, Baku and Tbilisi resulting in desperate reactions in the south and hurried reactions in the north.

Most generals believed that this was a German surprise attack or general uprising, something to rationalize the large swath of land now missing and its troops lost and communications now severed. as such the Caucasus front, Separate Coastal Front begin with the idea of a uprising mentality and fear reprisals from Stalin if they are impacted in the attacks or uprising.
