Lanionite Lexicon Stock markets across Lanion Mon took a dive this morning with the expulsion of the nation from the WTO, government officials were quick to act on the incident as the nations gold reserves were audited as new lines of currency were pressed into circulation as a stop gap measure until the economy could adjust. Meanwhile in Farlandiay, Lanionite diplomatic officials, now trapped in their embassies berated their counterparts in the homeland demanding repatriation, their pleas were finally answered when the 2nd fleet was dispatched from Fort Greyson to the international waters bordering Farlandiay. Over the following days citizens across the nation began to feel the pressure despite the injection of money into the economy, small and medium sized businesses were forced to either increase prices or lay off staff, each option angering the populace until civillian protests and work strikes gripped the nation. Fearing both the anger of the population outside the walls, and the loss of trust from inside his own court, Emperor Augustus departed the nation on his first official visit to the Free Land of Wintony in an attempt to hammer out a new deal. |
Farlandiay seeks a diplomatic resolution to growing rhetoric and is glad to see Lanion efforts to open lines of communication. We will not, however, permit the repatriation of Lanion diplomats until further progress is made, and warn that the 3rd and 6th fleet will intercept and redirect any Lanion Vessels away from the Templay Bay. |
A visit to Farlandiay has been added to the Emperor's itenarary, the fleets currently stationed in international waters however will remain on active alert until after the Emperor has departed Farlandiay, any actions commited towards these vessels whilst they are in international waters will be seen as an act of maritime piracy. |
Emperor Augustus will be received by a special session with the Chancellor and Arch Imperator jointly. In the interim, Lanion diplomats will be permitted to travel within a 10-mile radius of the embassies under surveillance, but attempts to leave the country will be taken as unlawful and could result in brief detention. With this being the first formal meeting between any of these leaders, as Chancellor Christopher and Imperator Cent were both fighting against the pretender AI during the war of Lanonite Sucession war of Lanonite Independence, there is much to discuss in a multitude of subject areas. |

Through many years I have made many friends and many memories which will last with me long after my nation ceases to exist, and I thank you all for the fun through the years. This journey has sometimes been complicated and confusing, but also exciting and memorable. The experiences here have helped me in my real life, but now is the time to formally and finally move on. October 25, 2019 The Second War of South Canadian Aggression is over! Smoke rose over the Canadian capital of Fargo, Friday. Wintonian intelligence had been intercepting chaotic communications all morning long when the news went public that the Council of the Nameless had been eliminated. Whether by terrorism, political infighting or a simple accident, the entire council evaporated along with the fortress-like office building from which they ruled in a single terrifying explosion that scattered debris and singed paper all over the city. In the ensuing confusion, the Wintonian Sixth Fleet chose to seize the moment and stormed over the Arcanum continent, rescuing the trapped battalions in former Westion and occupying the Canadian port of Fishmarket. Our soldiers encountered little resistance. This morning, the decision was made to march on Fargo and for the second time Wintonian airships clouded the skies over South Canada. They met no resistance and entered the Canadian capital without incident this afternoon. A preliminary examination of Canadian logistical records (of which there are few and even fewer that can be relied upon) provides a clue as to the potential cause of the nation’s demise; the Arcanum salvage operation cost far more in material than it ever returned in loot. Whatever promise the Nexonan ruins might have held was dashed by persistent Wintonian raids on supply lines. Of the loot that did return to South Canada, most of it was lost to corruption and what remained was either of poor condition or useless to their war effort. But a greater stress was gripping the South Canadian economy. In economic isolation and under the shadow of a strict, war-time logistical board, the national manufacturers struggled to meet even the most basic quotas. Most Canadians were forced to work under conditions that were tantamount to slave labor. Agriculture withered even as the government pioneered new irrigation techniques, daring plans which required material stolen from Nexon and which failed when such material was lost along the mine-cratered highways of the northern continent. South Canada was primed for a cataclysmic famine and its economy – taxed even in times of peace – was already past worn out after long months of an unsustainable war effort. Wintonian Intelligence also believes that the Canadian Communist Party rank-and-file lost faith in the Council of the Nameless after the disastrous bloodletting during the Ellis Offensive. The robotic brutality of the generalship proved that nothing had changed since the last war. Wintonian troops have occupied Fargo, Fishmarket, the north Gemini islands and several fortresses throughout South Canada. We will not make the same mistake we did last time and leave the nation to its own devices. Such an environment proved fertile for despots before. The Jefferson Administration will be releasing a plan shortly detailing the future of the territory. The danger to Arcanum and its storied ruins has passed and the FLOW will be pulling its troops from the area. We regret to inform the international community that, despite our best efforts, the Canadians still managed to deconstruct many irreplaceable landmarks, particularly near their base of operations. Hopefully, the unexploded ordinance that still litters the landscape will deter future nations from trying anything so foolhardy. The FLOW would like to thank its allies who stood strong beside us: Lanion Mon, whose people proved integral to our operations on the Arcanum front, and Farlandiay whose minds helped us to thwart the best Canadian plots. But the FLOW must also warn the regional community; rogue, former elements of the Canadian military still menace both the continent, Gemini Oriental, and the seas around the region. Given the size of the arsenal at their disposal, it is likely we will still be facing these stateless militias for a long time to come. So ends The Glorious Republic of South Canada (again). Let us remember it for what it was: a tyrannical nation fueled by gaslight and directed by the single ideology of Aggressionism. There was nothing glorious about it, except that its armies fought with a wit and gusto not seen anywhere else outside of Wintony. It was a place of little laughter, though we all laughed at it quite often. We will miss their dignitaries, whose militant opposition to everything livened the mood at otherwise staid diplomatic functions. Nations of the CON After weeks of international deliberation over the regional economy and trade agreements, the people of Freedharma have come to a conclusion. In light of the emerging EEE pact, Wintonian assessment of the Top Five economies, and the fall of our geopolitical adversaries in South Canada, we have formally decided to join Farlandiay in the region's (literal) Eastern-most trade agreement: The Wintonian Trade Organization. We wholeheartedly believe the WTO's significant strength in both agriculture and arms development will benefit our nation best, and want to make our allegiance and tactical support readily available to the one nation that's proven it's determination against any remnants of the South Canadian military that may rise (or return) in the future - The Free Land of Wintony. We officially request our acceptance into the WTO, should the powers that be approve it. |

For the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of the Former Glorious State What remains of the shattered South Canadian country is a dangerous breeding ground for Aggressionist malcontents and hyper-nationalist tyrants. South Canada could boast a population of several billion illiterate, famished peasants when it still lived. These people inhabit the skeleton of a militant state whose bones still possess a keen sharpness. If even one armory remains unsecured, it could provide fire for an uprising that might grow into a revitalized state that could once again menace the region. We will be mopping up the armed remnants of their military for years, perhaps decades, to come but we can at least muster the strength to secure the bulk of their might before it is used in a fresh war against civilization. The FLOW intends to meet this responsibility head on. Our plan will consist of the following points 1. Annexation: The FLOW will occupy the former Canadian territory in accordance with CoN RC#2, Operative Clause 3: “Nations can be ‘Occupied’ if defeated in a defensive war.” At the exact moment of occupation, we will also begin colonization operations in accordance with CoN RC#4 to permanently incorporate the former Canadian territory into the FLOW, to be governed as a provincial “Military Zone.” This will grant us the sovereign authority to police the territory as needed. It will also ensure that any attempt to revive the former nation must first contend with Wintonian might, fitting an adamantine chain around Pandora’s Box. Curricula is already in development. We have broken the back of a demon, now we will resurrect its mind and repair its soul. Such is the duty of the Shield of Civilization. It is necessary to do what must be done. |
Oct 30, 2019, ZD8 Used to be a time when Wintony laid more rail than ninety-five percent of the rest of the world. The Dubya ‘ey confirmed it. Course, it’s been a toot or two since then and at some point we lifted the ban on cars but the rails are still there. They’re all over the country like roots under the leaves. I’ve been riding these rails since I was a boy; grew up listening for whistles and studying engine schematics. Time or two I even snuck down into the underground tunnels reserved for military freight. I’ve been pointing them around from the Mefristi control terminal for ten years, now. It ain’t as satisfying as being in the engine, but at my age I don’t need to be climbing around boxcars or digging through electrical innards. I get along alright, and Mara – the ol’ witch – keeps me alert. It was the night before Halloween, and all through the station not a creature was stirring. The zombies weren’t here yet, but it sure felt like it with mist washing over everything under sock-height and all the yard-hands disappeared to shelter. The control terminal was secure enough and the army didn’t bomb critical infrastructure if they could help it so I was stocking up stout for a cool, three-day vacation in a hammock beside the control tower window. Mara’s engine – a bulky seventeener with military-issue skirts – pulled into the yard unexpectedly towing a passenger car fancier than she had any right to. Out steps an officer in a fine-looking jacket. I dunno what his shoes looked like, on account of the mist, but I bet they shined like stars before they touched the yard. He strolled up to the tower and asked to speak with the control chief. I told him I was all there was and he said I’d do. Every year, the zombies come shuffling from out of nowhere and wreck the place. The military steps up, as usual, and puts ‘em down but they make almost as much of a mess as the zombies do. This officer – A Colonel Percy – he tells me they’ve got an ambitious plan this year. They want to armor up a bunch of trains and send them running in circles around the whole country, blowing horns and shooting fireworks to herd all the undead toward the track. They’ll deck us out with guns and platoons and all the armor we want. I mulled it over a moment and thought it sounded doable, although we’d need an army to outfit all the engines ‘fore dawn. But I made one request; I told him I wanted to run an engine. |
