Yeah sry for coming back to it, been a busy last 2 days... Also I agree with you 100%! Diversity is not the problem, the problem is the industry really just doesn't do it properly, only half-asking it to make profit. God speed!
I'm not valuing some cultures more than most, but we can't ignore the fact that different cultures have different representations, and it's just a basic fact that decreasing the representation of an underrepresented culture for the sake of an already overrepresented one is much worse than if it were the other way around.
You're not arguing for representation in that statement, you're arguing that you should throw in a character in the background with no regard for their culture as a way of promoting "diversity". If you want to actually expose people to different cultures and the lessons of those cultures, shine the spotlight on those cultures. NOT just background characters.

No my argument is about why it's more acceptable, and perhaps even necessary, to race-swap a traditionally white character than it is one of another race.
This is just a counter to the "but what if they made MLK Jr white" argument people make in response to a race swap because it's kinda insane some people think that's a valid counter.
Communist Denmark? Is this your puppet region Danish Wonderland!
Indeed! I am Europe's very own card farmer, puppeteer, all of it making my boundless growth possible. From a nobody to 32nd in International Artworks in mere months! And on a quest to become best of the best.

The "but what if they made MLK Jr white" argument is used against the "why does it matter if Cleopatra is black in a documentary"... It's wrong to race-swap any character, because it's lazy (and also historically inaccuracy as mentioned above, heanse the comparison). Race swapping characters takes all the good traits of a character and throws it out the window, because people take it as "this character was good, but it would be better if they were a different race to make it more 'representative'" which makes this new character's story stained from being just a repainting of another already well loved character.
Make a character that IS the other race and not just a repaint, like Miles Morales from Spider Man. Great character, great storyline, not a repaint. He's just just another retelling of the same story, he has his own distict one.
