Ashes of the Union Part I “...Do You Remember?...” Nikolai Chevuraki stands firmly and confidently on his balcony in Red Square. He stands in the same place where the Great Stalin once stood, not so long ago, and he would treat this spot with respect. It meant something to him, as did the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Not the USSR on its last legs during the late sixties and seventies, but the USSR that won the Great Patriotic War, and sent the first man to space! Thousands had arrived to see their Premier, and millions tuned in on the state radio and television channels, interested in what Nikolai had to say. The Premier was bold, but charming, loud, but never angry. He had a deep pride in his nation, one that invoked deep emotion into those who remembered Stalin’s USSR. The anthem would then play “The State Anthem of the USSR” on the loudspeakers. Everyone stood, removed their hats, and sung along. “Союз нерушимый республик свободных The anthem concluded, with cheering and clapping as people returned their hats atop their heads. It is then that Nikolai begins speaking. His voice is loud and clear, rife with passion and ambition. “Comrades. Do you remember the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics? Do you remember Yuri Gagarin? Sputnik? Do you remember Comrade Stalin, and Lenin? Do you remember the traitors to our nation? Trotsky. Gorbachev. Yeltsin. Khrushchev. Our elders remember. They will take the old Union in their hearts until they die. Soon, the only memories of Comrade Stalin’s Union will be in the textbooks. I do not wish to restore Comrade Stalin’s Union, however. I wish to birth a new USSR, from the flames of the mangled, dismantled Russian Federation. Soon, the Soviet Flag shall fly from Petrograd to Vladivostok, and the only people in our way are the traitors. The Kulaks of Siberia and Turkestan will try and stand against us, but they will fail. They have been brainwashed by their petty rulers in their tiny little states scattered across Comrade Stalin’s Union.” He stood up straighter, and smiled at his onlookers. “My dearest countrymen, the Red Army is built anew. We have the power to retake the Soviet Union from capitalist, Imperialist Powers. Through the teachings of Marx, all of Russia will rejoice at their salvation, and the USSR will send men to the stars again, we will make the Red Army feared across the globe. To every foreigner listening to me abroad, know that the Revolution is coming. It is sooner than you think. Goodnight.” Greater luoyang, Selviand, United fri cour kep, Prozera, and 4 othersCraconia, Krodin, Notherford, and Northernasia |

Catalinan Times The government also tried to calm the situation. The President shot a live speech and is aired in major news channels in the television as well as in the radio. He stated, "As the current president, I am sorry that this has happened to my people. I am trying my best to remedy this problem through creating more and more industrial and commercial spaces. But, my fellow La Catalinans, always bear in mind that state-owned companies aren't enough to sustain such huge population of unemployment. We are trying our best though to encourage private companies especially those overseas to invest in the country as the potential to grow here is huge. All we need to do is to hope and pray for the best. I also need your cooperation in every move of the government because what we do are for the people. We would not do things that would do harm to our populace. I hope for your consideration and patience. Thank you." Ports Completely Overhauled Retiva, Selviand, and United fri cour kep |

Claws of Steel China's substantial military build-up during the Cold War steadily ramping down inversely with the rapid rise of the roaring economy left the nation's National Revolutionary Army and its naval and air wings mostly equipped with hardware decades old, and, though still effective, were far past their prime. This cannot stand forever. Though whispers of the coming Twenty First century spoke of a world where the nations of the globe are so economically interconnected that any prolonged conflict would be disastrous for all parties involved, echos of the various European invasions of the Middle Kingdom summoned bitter feelings still among the ranks of China's citizenry, while the wounds of colonialism on China's soil were still visible, and, in the case of German Hainan, have yet to heal. China cannot afford to let its military wane any further, lest the circling vultures swoop down once more. Last year's review of the military has found most of the equipment and soldiers to be adequate for its defensive purposes, but woefully underdeveloped and backwards when put next to China's burgeoning economy, and its growing need to project power beyond its borders. The 1990 Annual Defence White Paper by the Ministry of Defense details the planned Great Revival of the Republic's Armies, along with the future of several Research and Development programs that thus far have had no concrete funding and no concrete requirements and goals and several proposed acquisition deals with foreign, friendly powers. The White Tiger Under the Great Revival, the Army remains China's foremost military branch, though it's significance has been greatly diminished. The Army is expected to shrink from it's current 2.7 million members to a more mobile force of 1.6 million within the next two years, while those laid off are to be transferred to newly created National Reserve Bureau or the National Chinese Militia. Newer equipment freed from the Great Revival will go towards the divisions that remain and will be shifted around based on need so as to provide those nearer to designated high-risk territories with the capability to move quicker and wield more firepower, while the older gear would follow the retiring staff to the auxiliary and reserve units. An assessment drawn up by the Ministry of Defense would test the troops' fitness, intelligence, strength, and the officers' aptitude for leading and creative thinking, along with a certain degree of humility, to determine that those who will remain will be the very best. NORINCO has been tasked with designing a new rifle to supplant the Type 81, while the Baotou Heavy Machinery Company has been tasked with upgrading the Type 59s in service with the Army to standards of the Jaguar upgrade package, which had been developed in a joint Sino-SSA Project. The Ministry of Defense has also recommended that the Type 85 be developed further into a modern, viable next generation Main Battle Tank, and is seeking assistance from the new Soviet Union and the SSA in crafting the vehicle. The MoD has also contacted Raytheon, showing immense interest in the company's SLEP upgrade package for its M60s. The Azure Dragon Through the centuries, China had remained primarily a land power, with either unorganized or weak navies representing the Middle Kingdom on the High Seas, and the issue had changed little since the close of the Pacific War, having feared an invasion from the North by the Communist Bloc via the People's Republic, had poured majority of its resources into the Army and the Air Force, more or less neglecting the Navy. The Yuan cannot ally this state of affair to stand for much longer. The Great Revival has hit the navy with the same manpower reductions of the Army, but to a lesser extent. The 350,000 sailors of the Revolutionary Navy will be reduced to 280,000 sailors, with the 50,000 marines reduced to 20,000. The Navy has been granted the most hardware in return, however; with the SSA being contacted with an offer of USD $5.9 Billion for five second-hand Los Angeles-class and two Strugeon-class Nuclear Attack Submarines, inclusive of the costs necessary to train the crew and the technology transfer and know-how to build more vessels of their type. Jiangnan Shipyards has also been tasked with the designing of a new DDG type warship, and is to be aided in the Bailong Project by the Government's Naval Arsenals. A possible low-interest grant to fund the expansions of civilian dockyards throughout the Republic is also currently being pursued, though further action will be undertaken by the Ministry of Infrastructure. The Vermilion Bird Having already received the funds for the acquisition of fighter and transport aircraft from Germany and the SSA and for the development of the J-10, the Air Force has received considerably less assets in the 1990 White Paper, though funds for its operations have been increased, and pilots are expected to drastically increase their annual hours of flight or face retirement. Conversely with the shrinking of the other Departments, the Air Force is set to expand from its current 200,000 to an expected 250,000. The fresh influx of recruits is to be drawn from top students throughout the nation's universities, and quite fittingly the standard salary of the Air Force has been raised the most of the three branches. The Black Turtle COVERT Following contact with the Australian Secret Intelligence Service requesting assistance in uncovering and monitoring nationalist movements in South East Asia, the Ministry of State Security has contacted its assets throughout the region to probe suspected insurgent hotspots in cooperation with the ASIS in an effort to identify dissident movements in the region. Large Airport Underway The Stockholm Arland Airport has served for Sweden since the early 1960’s. The airport now is largely outdated in terms of infrastructure and technology. The state-owned company which owns the airports in Sweden goes by the name of Swedavia. Following press conferences in 1987, promising a new airport, the Swedavia and Ministry of Transportation have begun construction for a large airport and luxurious one that will be named Stockholm Adolf Frederick Airport, in honor of one of Sweden’s kings. The airport is planned to finish by 1996. The airport is expected to transport over a million people per year. too lazy rn and no ideas United fri cour kep, Prozera, Craconia, La catalina, and 2 othersXadrius, and Krodin |
Roar of the dragon The commanders called the simulating a success as the F-18s managed to ‘shot down’ all bogies, while the DD escorts managed to take care of the ‘submarine’. In Osaka, a group of scientists managed to create ERA package, nicknamed the Tenji, is large outer thick steel plate sandwiched against within two smaller inner explosive plates, which will fire the an explosive and a steel plate against the round, making it less effective, and another large outer steel plate on the other side. They would be tested into a Type 74, which on the front plate, being separated by 17mm of steel, while on the turret, they would have a steel plate between the armour and the ERA, and be placed next to each other on the turret to give a full field of protection. In Yokosuka harbour, another large ship was launched, but this time one its bull, its namesake was Kaga, the second of the Akagi Class, which the work on the ship to be expected to be completed by around 1992, it would severely boost the Japanese navy to help protect it, and its neighbours, and allies waters. New Horizons In recent months thanks to generous government incentives, silver and gold mines throughout northern and central Mexico have shared greater prosperity and production to meet new demands. Zacatecas-the state with the largest silver productions-and Sonora, dominating gold production, are being witness to the greatest influx of new money into their respective economies. With the threat of powerful cartels practically eliminated, 24/7 security of mines and refineries, the companies have been able to carry out operations with enhanced speed and efficiency. Much of the gold will be added to Mexico’s existing reserves with smaller amounts sold off for industrial and luxury uses. Silver will see a smaller share be placed into reserves and used more in luxury items or sold off to private purchasers. As part of a new initiative to build up some of Mexico's armed forces, the Secretary of Defense has been given freedom to search for suitable developments and foreign weapons. The Mexican Air Force is one sector specifically that is deemed to be in need of building as the nation only has a total of twelve jet fighter aircraft and twenty propeller attack aircraft, plus several other reconnaissance, transportation and private planes at its disposal. Whether new aircraft secured be foreign or domestic, Mexico is merely looking for a well balanced, low-cost multi-role jet to improve national power. Little has been said about naval developments beyond the existing fleet of frigates and ocean patrol vessels, and army forces only require small additions in wheeled armored vehicles after losing a handful in the cartel battles. Integration of Guatemalan and Belizean peoples has proven to be a rocky transition as the government in Mexico City must meet the unique needs of the new Mexican citizens far south. The splitting of Guatemala into three separate states has resulted in disapproval from local leaders who are "appalled that Mexican bureaucrats would have the gall to break up our land". In an insensitive response, Interim Delegate of Guatemala Pacifica (GPA) Jose Macias, stated that "The land doesn't belong to Guatemalans. It is part of the Empire of Mexico as stated in the treaty signed by the last Guatemalan President. As such, Mexico City has full authority in deciding to split the country into three states for smooth control. If the people wanted Guatemala to remain whole then they should not have agreed to the treaty." While many in the west are dissatisfied with the new arrangement, a growing number of Guatemalans in the territory now designated as Sur Guatemala (SGA) wish for the new state to be dissolved and made part of Quintana Roo (QR) to the north-citing ease of transition and protection from the Quintana Roo State Guard that was instrumental in eliminating Gulf cartels. Plano Real - Part 2 Since the beginning of the "Plano Real", the national economy witnessed an extraordinary drop in the rate of inflation, almost 30%. The economic deindexation project proved to be efficient, and in a few more months this measure will be complete. In parallel with this reform, the Imperial Government announced the next step that will begin in parallel with the deindexation, which will be the privatization of large state-owned enterprises, eliminating the public obligation to finance investments and enabling the modernization of such companies. In addition to these measures, there will still be the launch of the monetary standard called "Real", which is expected to replace Cruzeiro Novo. Diplomatic Ties with Neighbors Since the visit of the Brazilian delegation to La Catalina, great progress has been made, with the government accepting our proposal to create commercial relations. Now that both countries are closer, the Brazilian Empire will support La Catalina facilitating the crossing of people between countries, which will give an increase in tourism income. In addition, the government will encourage the entry of agricultural products from La Catalina to the country, and a relatively lower customs duty is charged to this group of products. Many analysts fear that the entry of agricultural products from a developed country in this area will negatively affect domestic production, but in counterpart will generate competition that will lead to the development of this sector. Brazil will also encourage the expansion of industries to La Catalina, as a thank you for the help in the agricultural sector, with the aim of helping the country to grow this sector, being the main mining, automotive, metallurgy, petrochemical and machinery. |
From North to South! It is 6 AM in Stockholm, and a known man around Sweden by the name of Karl was in his chair in his house. Looking at a picture of the first Antartica Expedition. “Why can’t Sweden be like them?” He said to himself. “I mean, we’re already in one of the coldest areas in the whole planet. Why can’t we go to.. Antartica!” Excited, he grabbed his notebook and began to doodle ideas. “And this will go there, and this here. It’s perfect!” He said with glee as the city of Stockholm begins to wake up as buses and cars are heard outside. Being a busy Wednesday, the streets were full of cars. “Maybe I can get Sweden to be the first to.. place a town in Antartica with people.” He began to put his notebook in his book bag and ran to his car, kissing his wife and kids a goodbye. He drove away in his 1986 Volvo. Upon reaching the government building of the post office of Stockholm, he sent a letter to the Minister of State and the Royal Palace for his idea to be made a reality. Communists, Friend, or Foe? The day before, in Stockholm aswell, the Swedish Royal Guard began to change positions around the palace every 6 minutes. Visitors, and locals saw as the Pickelhaube wearing guards changed their position. But one stood out, a man in his 24’s was identified by police for wearing a large duffel bag at near range of the entrance. The following conversation ensues. Officer 1: “Sir, may we ask, what is in your duffel bag?” The Officer waited as he held his MP5 in his right hand. Man: “Oh this? That’s just.. full of.. books about Sweden and the... err.. government!” The man was obviously lying, but the officer wouldn’t let him go. Officer 1: “Mhm. May I check your bag?” The man was nervous, afraid that the reason he’s here might be exposed. Officer 1: “Sir, the bag. Give it.” Man: “You can’t search it! It’s privacy! Don’t you know about privacy officer! I have my rights!” The officer grabbed the bag forcefully off the man. Officer 1: “Stand still, I’m searching this. Like it or not, it’s safety.” The Officer opened the bag, finding books about communism, Russia and plastic bags. Officer 1: “Hold on sir. We’re gonna need two more officers at the front entrance.” The officer said into his radio. The man was sweating, afraid the officer might find the weapon. 2 more officers arrived 2 minutes later. Officer 2: “What’s the problem?” Officer 1: “This man is with a duffel bag, near the entrance.” The other two officers looked at the man. At this point, it didn't matter. It was shoot up the place, or go to jail. But being the idiot he is, the man began to ran away as the officers chased him. After a short pursuit on foot, he was pinned down and arrested. After searching, the duffel bag was found to be containing a Mauser rifle and two bombs. The incident could’ve killed over a dozen people and may have had demorale the Swedish nation. if you dont like, i’ll eat your dog |
Rebels Return to Iraq! In the rural mountain regions to the northeast of the country, rebel cells supported by Iranian funds have begun to stir up activity for the first time since the mid-seventies. Baseless and untrue claims of a cruel and undemocratic government fuel the terrorists' factions and President Hussein has declared a national emergency in anticipation of an attack on the government. Roadblocks and police stops along the roads to northern villages have been implemented, and steps to identify the groups responsible for the activity are being taken. Meanwhile, the foreign ministry of Iraq asks the international community not to worry about what is happening in Iraq. Expanding ports In an attempt to expand international trade on a local scale, the Arab Peoples' Republic is offering the olive branch to the State of Israel in a deal that would create a mutual trade zone between the two nations. A zone lacking tariffs or taxes on imports and exports between the two, and offering a safe and stable currency exchange. |
