Arcesia is a rising region with an emphasis on gameplay, roleplay, community-building, and the World Assembly. While styled and themed as a European monarchy, we are a democracy at heart, where most of the positions, including the head of government, are regularly elected.

Although it may seem that we are pretty serious and demanding, we are actually a welcoming and chilled community that offers tons of activities for residents to have fun, including a soon-to-be-inaugured roleplay with a map, as well as ample opportunities for advancement for citizens who wish to get involved in the regional government and work for the advancement of our fledgling region!

Here in Arcesia any nation is free to follow their own heart and participate in the region at the best of their abilities.

The first thing you can do to get involved is a post on our RMB. By doing this you'll get to know your region mates and you'll have a chance to appreciate how friendly we are. When a new player joins they are warmly welcomed and any questions you may have, about the region or the game in general, will be promptly answered.

Additionally, you may want to join our Forum and apply for Citizenship. Citizenship is the first and most important step on your journey to become an important and respected member in our community and NationStates.

You should also check out our regional Discord Server, as this is where most our off-site roleplay will take place.

Our region is founded on democracy and the belief in fair and good faith debate animate and move our region at every level. The Monarchs wear their crowns, but it is the people, the citizens, who are sovereign in Arcesia.

Citizen sovereignity is carved like rock in our Constitution, and is expressed in the Diet of the Realm, our Legislative assembly.

All citizens can sit on the Diet, which is by far the most powerful body in the Arcesia. The powers of the Diet are absolute, even superior to those of the Monarchs. Its members can, in fact:

• Enact, amend, repeal any laws, including the Constitution or ratify treaties (Title II, Chapter I, Art. 3).

• Decide whether to accept or reject applications for citizenship (Title III, Chapter I, Art. 8).

• Elect or remove from office any government official (Title III, Chapter V, Arts. 3 & 6).

• We want to become a poweful voice in the World Assembly and we can't do it without you!

Arcesia will have, of course, its own regional government. But a government cannot exist without good, motivated people who wish to devote their own time and energies for the betterment of our aspiring Region. That's where you all come into play!

The choices you make today will have a huge impact in the months, and years, to come. Are you ready for the challenge? Are you ready to leave your mark in our history? If the answer is yes, then you are the person we are looking for and this section is for you.

This section is intended to be a brief overview of our regional government and its structure. Our government is divided into three branches (Executive, Legislative and Judiciary). For further information, we invite you to read our Constitution. Here is a list of all the available positions and what they entail:

Executive Branch

• Chancellor: The Chancellor is the Head of Government of Arcesia, the leader of the executive branch and the Chair of the Cabinet (Title II, Chapter IV, Arts. 1 & 2). The Chancellor has the power to negotiate treaties (Title II, Chapter IV, Art. 3) and can appoint Secretaries (Title II, Chapter IV, Arts. 11 & 12).

• Vice-Chancellor: The Vice-Chancellor assists the Chancellor in any of their duties and can be authorized by the Chancellor to act on their behalf (Title II, Chapter IV, Art. 6). The Vice-Chancellor is a member of the Cabinet (Title II, Chapter IV, Art. 11) and may temporarily serve as Acting Chancellor should the Chancellor leave office (Title II, Chapter IV, Art. 8). The Vice-Chancellor is the Chair of the Royal Council of Dukes (Title II, Chapter III, Art. 6), and as such is responsible for monitoring security issues and performing a security evaluation on all citizens applicants.

  Both the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor are democratically elected by all citizens every 4 months (Title II, Chapter IV, Art. 7).

• Secretaries: Secretaries are members of the Cabinet appointed by the Chancellor (Title II, Chapter IV, Art. 11). Secretaries lead Departments (Title II, Chapter IV, Art. 12) and oversee specific areas of the Executive. There may be up to seven Secretaries (Culture and Arts, Foreign Affairs, World Assembly Engagement, Gameside Affairs, Communications, Cards, Defence).
  

Legislative Branch

• President of the Diet: The President of the Diet of the Realm leads and moderates the Legislative body (Title II, Chapter I, Art. 4). The President of the Diet is also responsible for maintaining the Citizens Manifest (Title III, Chapter I, Art. 9) and removing citizens from it when they lose the requirements for citizenship (Title III, Chapter I, Art. 10).

• Vice President of the Diet: The Vice President of the Diet is a legislative officer appointed by the President of the Diet to assist them in their errands (Title II, Chapter I, Art. 5). The Vice President can also take the President's place temporarily (Title II, Chapter I, Art. 6).

Judiciary Branch

• Magistrates: The Magistrates are the 3 judges of the High Court, Arcesia's Judiciary body, consisting of a Chief Magistrate and 2 Associate Magistrates (Title II, Chapter V, Art. 2). In judicial elections the candidate who gets the most votes serves as Chief Magistrate (Title III, Chapter III, Art. 19).
  The High Court is administered by the Chief Magistrate (Title II, Chapter V, Art. 5), who enforces the rules of the court and uses their discretion where no rules exist (Title II, Chapter V, Art. 6).

• Attorney General: The Attorney General is the main legal advisor to the Monarch, the Chancellor and the government of Arcesia and manages the prosecution of all the criminal cases (Title II, Chapter V, Art. 8). The Attorney General has a staff of trained lawyers (Title II, Chapter V, Art. 10) who are the only people authorized to serve as defendants in criminal cases (Title II, Chapter V, Art. 11).

  The Magistrates and the Attorney General are democratically elected by all citizens every 4 months (Title II, Chapter V, Art. 12).
