The Presidential Convention continues in earnest, with several hundred delegates from across the republics and it’s territories being represented. An invitation for a small foreign delegation to speak to the assembly was sent to all major powers, allies, and regional partners. The foreign component to a traditionally domestic affair was introduced by Grand President Kazama, when he invited the Mydian Ambassador to the Seven Republics to give a short speech to the assembly.

Aside from the thorough vetting of all potential candidates for the presidency, a minor territorial dispute has been ongoing between Mugen-no-Shima and the Republic of Kichi-no-Sekai-no-Hashi, or Kichi informally. The republic maintains that, by virtue of its discovery of the island, it should maintain administrative control, to include tax revenue from allied shipping using it as a supply point. The island disagrees with this interpretation, stating that the original constitution signed and ratified by the Septiman people strictly defines the borders of the constituent republics, and no more, therefore placing any extraneous territory under ultimate control by the central government. Kyasuthie has been content to let the island maintain its own internal sovereignty thus far.
