I would like to express my support for Volirum for GA President and argue against reopening nominations.

First and foremost, Volirum is an excellent candidate and statesman, who has served at the highest reaches of government and in the Court as Public Attorney. He is regularly online on-site and on Discord and cares quite a bit about the General Assembly's success. Perhaps most of all, he's been around long enough to have an effective understanding of our laws and institutions. I trust him to do an excellent job in this new role.

Of course, not everyone who votes "against" him is actually against the candidate, and they may not oppose my claims. However, I contend that reopening nominations would not be good for our General Assembly. Nominations opened ten days ago, and before Volirum declared a few days prior, we were almost left without a single candidate running in this election. Indeed, one candidate is unideal, but if no other candidate spoke up for 10 days, what do we expect to happen with a reopened nomination? I do not have much confidence that we will see any new contenders. All it would do is leave our GA without leadership and force legislation to grind to a halt. We cannot force this sacred democratic institution to stop functioning because of an unrealistic expectation that we can have a competitive election (in this case, anyway).

As unfortunate as it is, there seems to be not much interest in the position, and I would rather it be filled than not at all.

Volirum, North italian union, Frellor, and Agrocragoria
