The Systems Alliance of Ventus Prime

North italian union wrote:Official message from the Royal Ministry of Defense

By order of His Majesty King Nicola I of Habsburg-Savoy, the Royal Space Force of the NIU will assist the nation of Ventus Prime in its conflict against the nation Kunkenga. We are doing this to help an ally, we advise kunkenga to avoid countermeasures on earth along our shared border. Peace and snow should reign on the Alps, not blood and death.

New Raleigh, Old North Province

Today marks the first on-camera appearance of Ariana Thompson since that Palmetto City attack nearly 8 months ago. A Karteria born political journalist by the name of Don Winters was tasked with interviewing the current sitting President of the New united carolinas, which would be airing on various channels across not only the world but across the many galaxies that humanity has settled in.

Don had lived in the Carolinas for nearly a decade now, so he was familiar with the political climate of the country. The drive from Asheville to New Raleigh was comfortable and gave him plenty of time to review his draft. The city was bustling with summertime excitement. Part of it was due to the basketball game happening in the southern part of the city. New Raleigh Capitals vs the Newly formed Aerbourne Aviators. The excitement was everywhere, but Don wasn't too familiar with the sport. He was more of a Baseball fan, himself.

As he approached the capital campus, he was quickly stopped at the gates by federal guards. But once they saw the special sticker on his vehicle's windshield and window, they simply took his name and directed him to the underground parking garage. Once there, he was patted down, scanned for suspicious items, and escorted inside the Capital House itself. He was directed towards a room, workers in the building taking glances at him as he passed with escorts to his sides. The room they were hosting the interview in was of course filled with cameras and lighting equipment, along with floating microphones. All of it was centered around two chairs, one of which the President was currently sitting in. The moment Don entered the room, the cameras began filming.

Ariana smiled and stood up to approach Don.

"Good afternoon, madam President. It's a pleasure to see you." Don said formally, shaking her hand firmly. Ariana's grip was strong in itself. She was beautiful. Her assistants had done a fantastic job with her makeup and hair. She radiated confident energy, the way a good leader should. She had a bold, confident presence, yet it was also calming. She was nicknamed the Godmother of the Carolinas for a reason. With an inviting smile, she responded. "It's nice to meet you as well, Mr.Winters. Come, take a seat."

Don took the seat adjacent to the one she had been sitting in. Ariana took her original seat. Between the two chairs were two glasses of sweet tea, the national drink. "Help yourself to some tea. If you'd like more, we'll be happy to serve you some." Ariana said with a hint of a southern accent. "Thank you very much, Madam President," Don said. He took a sip, before pulling his folded notes out of his pockets.

"Now, let's just get straight to the point."

Winters: "Madam President, it has been nearly eight months since your last public appearance. Forgive me for provoking any negative memories, but we understand that it is because of the attack that occurred in Palmetto City, correct?"

-President Thompson Pauses-

Thompson: That is correct. While I'd rather keep most details private, let it be known that my absence was part of a trauma recovery process. But in no way does it mean that my ability to lead has been hindered.

Winters: Can you elaborate?

Thompson: During my absence, I've made sure to attend to my presidential duties. I have continued to oversee the construction of the national railroads, which is around 70% complete. I've also overseen the construction of the underground cities, spaceports, the integration of the new Provinces, and the expansion of our space program.

Winters: So we've seen. Just recently in Asheville, we've began construction of our spaceport near Asheville-Buncombe International. It's been going quite smoothly.

Thompson: Great to hear!

Winters: Now, the nation has been wondering how the New Years Party has affected your feelings regarding foreign policy. The Embassy and Consulates of Kunkenga have since been closed, which is understandable. But there has also been a lack of interaction between the New united carolinas and her allies since the attack.

-President Thompson takes a sip of tea before answering.-

Thompson: It is true that the Carolinas haven't made much of an attempt to strengthen foreign relations. Given the circumstances, we decided to refrain from diplomacy, to mitigate the chances of attacks during these turbulent times. However, that was then.

-Ariana Crosses her legs.-

Thompson: But I've realized now that we shouldn't let that tragedy stop us from going about our business. The bottom line is, we were an innocent bystander in this situation. In no way did we deserve what we got. That's why we closed the consulates and embassies. And trade between our two nations has been completely cut off.

Winters: What about Foreign Policy with allies or uninvolved nations?

Thompson: I plan on reaching out to allied nations such as Cymiopolis and Ventus Prime to offer our support in the war. Mostly with supply and aid, such as foodstuff. As for diplomacy, I'd love to meet with The sakura nippon and Gallaton.

Winters: Staying on the topic of Foreign Policy, there have been concerns from Scherzinger regarding foreign relations between your two nations. You first met with... erm

-Winters looks at his notes.-

Winters: Emperor Erwin Agustus Sacschen von Zenzefer III at the New Years' party. As I'm sure you're aware, Scherzinger is, by Carolinian Standards, a hyper-conservative, nationalistic state. Some members of the Liberals of the Carolinas, the party from which you hail, have condemned this move. Not to mention the entirety of the Cooperative-Democratic Party, have denounced your decision to meet with the Emperor. While there is less conservative pushback, some members of the Conservative Party have denounced your decision as well. What do you have to say that?

Thompson: While the Carolinas and Scherzinger may differ in many ways; and believe me, I wholeheartedly disagree with many sentiments of the Scherzingerian government, I do not see that as much of a reason to completely cut ties. Scherzinger is ultimately a non-belligerent nation, and it is not oppressive to its citizens. When New spiedska was expanding after WWIII, it was a very different nation. Their ideas were completely opposing to the NUC, which at that time was run by our founder, Marcus Sterret, may he rest in peace. Not to mention the relationship between Inklings and Humans was weakening, to say the least. You could argue New spiedska was even worse, being such a militant nation. However, despite the opposition, Marcus knew of the importance of branching out diplomatically, even if the nation is politically adjacent to our own. So long as they remain peaceful with us, our allies, and it's own people.

Winters: Understandable.

-Winters shuffles notes around-

Winters: Regarding the Ventuan-Kunkengan war, many are curious as to what your stance is on the war, and whether the Carolinas should get involved. It has no doubt become a major talking point in the upcoming 2148 election.

Thompson: I'm reluctant, especially considering the fact that our military is in the process of rebuilding and reshaping. And from my understanding, joining the war is practically an all-party belief. As I said before, I will supply our allies. And perhaps when the time comes, we will join the war. Though that's still up in the air.

Winters: Don't you feel any sort of malice towards Kunkenga for the destruction they caused in Cusabo?

Thompson: I try not to hold a grudge, no matter how traumatizing it was.

-Prersident Thompson takes a sip of tea.-

Thompson: When a nation goes to war, all parties truly dod believe they're doing what's right, despite the casualties of the innocent. We were that casualty. However, regardless of Kunkenga's intent, they've killed indiscriminately. And they've changed the lives for the worst for many Carolinians that night. Including my own. I believe they will get their comeuppance.

Winters: I see.

-Winters checks notes once more-

Winters: This year, you are running against Dan McHale of the Conservative Party, London Chipping of the Cooperative-Democrat Party, Kurt Parish of the National Party, and Marvin Kite of the Green Party. Though by the looks of it, you're projected to win 65% to 70% of the vote. Just astounding numbers, and much higher than your 56% from 6 years ago. What do you have to say to that?

Thompson: I must admit, it's very flattering. Of course, I'm not going to hold back just because my projections are good. My platform is essentially carrying on the tasks and policies I have been advocating for. I'll be expanding our space exploration, beyond that of Red Dust. I will continue to improve infrastructure across the nation, as well as continue to integrate the new Provinces into our great country.

Winters: Well Madam President, I wish you luck in the next election. Unfortunately, we are out of time, so I'm afraid this is where we'll part ways.

Thompson: Thank you for your kind words!

Winters: Thank you for your time and hospitality. Please, have a good day. It was a great honor to interview you.
