The Systems Alliance of Ventus Prime

Galactic City

Raphtalia was in her office relaxing after a stressful meeting with the Senate when she felt a presence behind her. She didn’t turn, sighing slightly. “Honestly Rifana, I understand sticking to the shadows is the way of the Shadow Guard but you could just use the door.”

“My apologies, my lady,” Rifana said, lowering her hood. She was dressed in a navy blue cloak and her ears gave away her identity as a weasel Demi-human. “There’s something I think you should see.” She put a holodisk onto the table.

“What is this?” Raphtalia asked as it activated, displaying what appeared to be a live feed.

“A rally from one of Kunkenga’s colonies. The speaker is the colony’s governor.”

“You hacked into a Kunkengan channel?” Raphtalia chose not to pursue it any further and watched the feed.

“Today marks the beginning of the end for the Republic,” the man said to what appeared to be a large group of people. ”The end of a regime that acquiesces to disorder. At this very moment in a system far from here, the Republic of Ventus Primelies to the galaxy while secretly supporting the treachery of the Rebellion!”

“This fierce navy that you have built, upon which we now witness, shall bring an end to their government, to their cherished fleet! All remaining systems will bow to the Second Monarchy and will remember this as the LAST DAYS OF THE REPUBLIC!”

Raphtalia turned off the transmission. “I think I’ve seen quite enough. “Do you think they’re planning an attack?”

“It’s hard to say at this moment, but the others are looking into it,” Rifana replied.

“Let me know as soon as you discover anything,” Raphtalia said as she stood up. “I will not let Szel fall while I am leading this nation. It cannot happen.”

“We will do everything in our power to make sure that doesn’t happen, Lady Raphtalia,” Rifana said as she put up her hood again. “After all, we are the Shadow Guard. We are your eyes, your ears; your sword, your shield.”
