The landing troops had been making a steady advance towards the shore's rear, the artillery instalments were now visible in the distance. But their air support was waning, there were no longer enough armed fighter-bombers to take out all the remaining targets. The republic's pilots had done a good job taking out the ones that still had ordinance left to drop.

All three waves of troops were now pushing forward, taking advantage of the enemy's lack of available forces. It was too soon to say how long this would last, but everyone knew they should make the most of the opportunity while it would last.

Elsewhere, the Hornet troopers began making their way towards the enemy trench line, determined to flank them. But upon clearing the forest they had landed in, they were quickly met by a crack team of republic shock troopers.

The central commanders of the seven Hornet squads calmly called out a set of garbled commands through their encrypted coms and their subordinates quickly drew their rifles and dashed for cover.

There were 21 Hornets in all, three in each squad, and with those numbers they could have easily taken out the shock troopers without need for cover. But these were armed with heavy repeaters.

Repeater rifles, while not able to pierce a Hornet's Beskar steel armor, could effectively negate its defensive qualities in the right hands. The rate of fire on some repeaters could knock a trooper in hardened Beskar armor to the ground. The armor simply protected the troopers, it didn't displace the force of the blast.

There was going to be a firefight. But, as usual, all the Hornets had to do was get that one good shot.

Sinon's fire had left a few holes in the WASP's face and chest, but they were soon filled and it continued its pursuit of her.

The shots had bought her some time to make distance between herself and it, but that would soon be bridged.

While running the WASP notified a young mill worker struggling to get his armor on before running to join the battle outside the foundry walls. He had left his EC-17 flash pistol unattended and without stopping the WASP snatched it away and kept running.

Squaring its shoulders and compensating for its body movements, the WASP stuck out a rigid arm and aimed the pistol at the small of Sinon' back. It let out a hail of shots towards her, each of them missing slightly.

Something is wrongit thought.

Something was wrong indeed. The machine noticed it had been making mistakes since it first arrived on the planet, such as forgetting to properly disguise itself in front of the gate keeper it was now mimicking.

Perhaps its the heat. it thought.

"Sorry Mitch, it's just this damned heat. Must be making me see things... I dunno." the WASP said as it continued running towards Sinon.

It accidentally used the voice clip from when it pretended to be the gate keeper after killing him. Something was clearly wrong.

But as long as its ability to complete the mission wasn't severely impeded, a minor glitch wouldn't be a problem, it thought, throwing the flash pistol aside and continuing gaining closer to Sinon.

The fact that the unknown troops were getting knocked down but getting back up again was enough for the unit to change tactics. They took cover in the trees, exchanging fire a couple of them threw grenades in the Hornets’ direction. It wasn’t long before they heard the sound of something rumbling in their direction. An AT-TE was lumbering towards them and the unit scattered as the walker started firing upon the Hornets’ current location.

Sinon could hear a voice behind, though it sounded more like a recording. The lift was mere feet away and she had to get out of here. She went in and hit the button as fast as she could, hoping the door would close in time as she tried shooting the thing in the legs.
