I have heard that some toads may be licked for a hallucinatory experience. I suppose this is somehow analogous to the legend of the frog prince, given the similarities, and that there is something in nature that wants people to place their mouths on small, squat, tailless amphibians. Be careful with those trippy drugs. The Mad Arab wrote "Only those who have partaken of a certain alkaloid herb may see in the flesh a shoggothe". (Of course, he was quite wrong. But the herb does help at seeing the invisible ones, of course.) Historical note: The Mad Arab was devoured by an invisible monster of some kind in the marketplace of Damascus. I guess he forgot to take his daily herb. |

But, your post sent me down a rabbit hole of looking up what alkaloid herbs were. And, it turns out, the wikipedia page for "Alkaloid" is a rich vein for Lovecraftian fiction... My nation is in the top 10% of the World for Public Transport. How can that be? ...unless... Maybe being absorbed by a traveling shoggoth counts as a trip on public transportation. Yes, that would explain it... and you can meet all sorts of interesting people inside a shoggoth, though the screaming does get in the way of a good conversation. |
I've been concentrating primarily on personal writing projects for the factbooks of some of my various nations (well, not this one...I don't have any ideas here). I find it quite rewarding, and it acts as a good reason to continue signing in to nations in a variety of regions. For me, I think it helps to focus on the things that originally drew me to this site, in order to retain interest in coming back during times when my enthusiasm is lowered or life is hectic (for instance, this is currently one of the most stressful periods of my life, probably). Don't worry about the cats. I am reminded of "blink dogs" in Dungeons & Dragons, which are canines with the ability to "blink" in and out dimensions, jumping about from one plane to the next, and reappearing back whenever and wherever they please. I have seen them flavored as ethereal cats, as well. It's like a horrifying version of "Fantastic Voyage" or "Innerspace." Or, an equally horrifying version of the story of Jonah inside the Fish, or that scene where Pinocchio and Geppetto are swallowed by the whale. I would watch any of these movies. |
