There is technically, although we try to be realistic. It will not be seen enthusiastically if you just go around and declare war with no apparent reason other than because you feel like it.

I have been playing NS for 15 years. I am an active Role-Player, who used to be involved in multiple permutations of the Sovereign Charter (SC). I love in-character RPs, with solid character and story-line development. In the SC, we used to write RPs that were novel-worthy (I swear, we had some of the best writers in NS!) But people moved on, and new folks moved in who were more interested in bs on discord and godmodding nonsense than storyline development. (That sounds awful negative doesn't it?! But I actually feel some loss over the end of an era...)

Anyhow...Nouvel Acadie is a tenuous confederacy of four different cultures (French Creole, Norse, Gaelic, and Sqoán) that came together after a ruinous civil war that destroyed the Troisieme Royaume de Nouvel Acadie, a former sprawling, monarch-led empire.

On a personal level, I am a retired teacher and current writer, who also is an officer in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. I own a small farm in Vermont (US), where we produce walnuts, berries, apples, mushrooms, poultry, maple syrup, and honey, and home-brew mead, hard cider, and beer.

Fáilte romhaibh. Níl mé cinnte an raibh níos mó teagmhála ag ár dtíortha, ach d'fhéadfadh siad anois.

Anyway look around for a bit, read the newspapers, look at the map and then take an island. Boss Ainslie can help you find the perfect island for your climate.

More to the point, TWI is a roleplaying region. Our main goal is to write unique and high-quality stories featuring our nations and their peoples. While war is a valid aspect, as Uprea alluded to, in TWI they are not sought out lightly and the people that do are encouraged to establish themselves as part of the collective TWI story by other means first.

As for other regions, we in TWI take pride in being uninvolved in the interregional politics of NationStates, the concerns of the World Assembly and of the Raiding/Defending sphere don't matter to us. The only reason why they are tags is to optimize our presence in the on-site tag search. While we can't stop you from being involved in the WA, I'll personally say that raiders and defenders are not welcome if the point of them being here is to do either.

The Republic of Laeden

What's up guys. Some of you might notice that you've been mentioned in one of my factbooks ( this one ). If there is something you feel must be added or changed, let me know.

For those who haven't been mentioned, this factbook pertains to Laeden's imports or exports. If you're interested in interacting with Laeden IC by means of international trade, don't hesitate to send me a message proposing some form of commercial partnership. I'm always open to economic collaboration and I'll be delighted to negotiate new trade deals.

Don't forget the RMB is basically a forum post; not a live chat. Many members don't regularly check in the RMB as we have other things happening. ☺️

The Orwell Society and Makrad

Makrad

Greetings Earthers,

People of Makrad and me, their leader, are happy to join in.
We made a very long travel from far, far away to discover your culture, but now we are stuck in this land. However, our beloved winged platipus seem happy here.
My people still learns how to human and even if our species seem biologicaly compatible, Makrad people still needs time to adapt. They put a lot of effort to be good Earthers and act in some absurd way sometimes. I hope you will find enough tenderness in your heart to forgive them.

May our collaboration be fructiful.
Makrad leader - Lia.

Whoo-hoo! I've been Mapped! Is there an easy way to get a hyper-close-up of my new homeland so I can begin designing my nation's internal divisions?

AND...on a retcon/canon issue...I have 15 years of history behind me. I can't just dump that. My inclination is to retcon my entire canon back one generation, and then come up with a reason (I have one) as to why they migrated to this location in TWI. That way I can begin here with a generation's worth of rebuilding already in place...otherwise, we'd just be refugees arriving with nothing.

On a related item, I know that the area I am occupying was formerly occupied by Verdon. What happened to them? Why are they off the map? Is there canon I should know about this territory?

Congratulation and Same Here!

As for the close up, the blank white map is slightly larger, I imported it into gimp, scaled it up, and then refined the shape before vectorizing it to smooth it out, finally turning it back into a png to use. Here's the result: https://i.imgur.com/Ujmkxft.png. Took about 45 minutes to do.

A larger-scale map of Gael, as requested: https://i.imgur.com/2oQzebz.png

As for bringing in old canon, the best option you have is to internalize things that happen with foreign nations until you want to interact with your neighbors, Ainslie and Thromsa especially but also including the rest of Gael and folks in the Southern and Eterna seas. As for other internal canon, I highly suggesting bringing as much as you can over into TWI. If you want further details on regional history that our dispatches don't bring up, feel free to ask.

A larger map, courtesy of Verdon, which covers most of the rest of TWI is also provided: https://i.imgur.com/L8ffaq5.jpg

PS: As for the canon of Verdon, which can still be accessed by his factbooks; he is considered to have never existed once he was removed from the map for extended inactivity. You'll be assumed to have always existed there from wherever your history starts. I'm not sure if it's possible, but you could (depending on if Verdon would let you) take aspects of his history or his involvement in regional affairs (such as his membership in the Gael Four) as given. Otherwise, you can act however you like.

Solaryia, Scaedia are good ones to talk to. Borisuelo will be your next door neighbour in a week.

Nouvel Acadie wrote:OK, I think I'm gonna cry. Nouvel Acadie LIVES!

if you can throw all your canon (i imagine some is on forum and some on dispatch) into a somewhat cohesive and chronological dispatch, i can read over it and see what we can pick up on, or point you in the direction of people you may be able to revive it with? otherwise a very long tg could work too =)

Even though you’re not technically west of Argus, I recommend posting any ideas you have in this thread, particularly any pertaining to history or modern relations involving nations on Raedlon or Mesder!
