Suhtai Weekly SUHTAI, SEQUOYAH – Galitsohi University has published its first opinion poll for the 2025 Senate election earlier today. The Suhtai-based university conducted a poll of 1,340 likely voters nationwide between 20 and 27 November 2024 and found results not too dissimilar from other polls conducted this month. Notably, however, the Communist Party of Sequoyah appears to be taking away votes from the Socialist Party, Sequoyah's historically most left-wing major political party in the past several decades. The Suhtai Weekly editorial board believes that the Communist Party of Sequoyah is successfully picking off the Socialist Party's most left-wing voter base, negatively affecting the Socialist's polling numbers. A similar effect may be happening on the party's center-left, with voters likely being drawn towards the Republican Party in the wake of the National Reconstruction–Federalist merger last month. Voters may be seeking to strategically cast their vote to prevent the National Popular Alliance from splitting their vote and granting the Sequoyan Nationalist Coalition an outright majority in the Senate. The following are the results of Galitsohi University's opinion poll: National Reconstruction: 33.5 Author: Ametane Kakestaestse
While the announcement of a shift in the Greens’ focus to localism with its 2024 manifesto was a long time in the works, it still dominates today’s headlines. Maledonia Today leads with an endorsement of the Green manifesto, calling it a realistic attempt to pressure the Progressive Socialists to fulfil environmental pledges and to involve local leaders in their decision-making. The Green promise to cooperate closely with and pressure the PSP also dominates the front page of the Sentinel, who lead with an analysis of the party’s meteoric rise in 2021, which the paper affords to the “ruthless pragmatism” of the party. The Observer and the Protectorate lead with comments made by the Independent Fiscal Committee on the Green manifesto, warning that the party’s approach to implementing democratic economic planning could cause international markets to react negatively. The Record also leads on the USK’s comments, with the headline “Greens would cause economic ruin, says USK”, sharing a front page with the story on the expected decision of the Uryha Standards Committee to not press further charges against New Liberal LUP Indu Álet, who will be allowed back into the Rađđamet after having been expelled from the chamber for 36 days after threatening LUP Avrá Rijá with a handgun during a debate surrounding rent controls. Today Today also leads with the decision of the Uryha Standards Committee, highlighting the history of violence within the Rađđamet and calling for more stringent standards for parliamentary conduct, calling it conduct that should not be acceptable in any upstanding body. Time leads with the Green manifesto, sharing the front page with the provincial by-election in North Ulásár, which resulted in the Social Democratic Party gaining a seat in the provincial legislature from the New Liberals. The paper argues that this reflects a broader trend, whereby the Social Democrats will benefit from the collapse of the New Liberal vote, despite the New Liberals originally being set up to combat the SDP.
