I would also like to take a moment to formally announce that I will be endorsing Zentata for the position of WA Delegate. Having worked with them in the Ministries of Culture and Information I have been nothing but impressed by their work ethic and dedication and I have the utmost confidence in them. Whoever wins this election, however, I am sure that Thalassia will be in capable hands moving forward. This has been the most competitive election in my time in this region and I am proud to see the democratic process in Thalassia thriving. Thank you all for standing, thank you all for voting and taking part and I hope everyone has a nice day! Czech germania, Toerana iii, Ayeinc, Veaetmar, and 2 othersZentata, and Banq |
People may have seen already that I have voted for Ayeinc in this election and I'd like to explain my decision. As Ayeinc has stated, when they joined Pacifica they became a Junior Ambassador in my Ministry and rapidly rose through the ranks because of their diplomatic skills, consistent activity and talent in the role. They are an original native of Thalassia, a respected former member of Government and will no doubt be just as effective and proficient in the role of World Assembly delegate. Whilst there are some excellent ideas and enthusiasm from other candidates, I think Ayeinc understands our region best and knows how to extend our influence internationally in the role of World Assembly delegate. I appreciate Bormiar's suggestions about authorship offering the region a more efficient way to become influential in the World Assembly, but I don't think there has been much appetite for that in the past and it may be slightly ahead of where Thalassia is in the present. Ayeinc understands that building up World Assembly engagement, and essentially creating the position of World Assembly delegate following our constitutional reforms, is more important at this point in Thalassia's progression and I fully agree with that. Zentata, Banq and Toerana are all able candidates but I am not sure endorsement swapping programs are the most beneficial thing in real terms (compared to creating a WA league with likeminded regions, for example) and there needs to be more infrastructure to build the World Assembly engagement in our region, rather than only promising activity and communication. |
Thank you for your support! Antellopia, Arenado, and Banq |
In the case no one else votes for me, or I am losing badly (both very likely) my vote will go to Zentata Nationific, Ayeinc, Veaetmar, Zentata, and 1 otherArenado |
Don't give up yet! The election is still open for two days! Jerkania, Veaetmar, Zentata, and Arenado |
And the regional telegram is out! Best of luck to all candidates! And it's open for 3 days. Jerkania, Nationific, Ayeinc, Zentata, and 1 otherOdin |
I haven’t given up, I just want to get that out there Jerkania, Toerana iii, Ayeinc, Veaetmar, and 1 otherZentata |
I'd like to, similarly to V, explain why I chose not to vote for myself, but support Bormiar/Odin in this election. If Thalassia wishes to join a WA league, we need an experienced author at the helm. Bormiar is the only candidate who has passed not 1, but 4 Security Council proposals. Furthermore, the region hasn't had the chance to display any appetite for the World Assembly, this is the first time a position like this has existed in Thalassia. Our former attempts, if my memory serves me well, of attempting to join/found a Legislative league failed, due to a lack of willing like minded regions, and if Ayeinc truly believed in the importance of a World Assembly league, he likely would have pushed harder for joining one as Foreign Minister. If experience and dedication to the role sell your vote, then your vote should go to Bormiar/Odin in this election. |
I pushed for Thalassia, even Pacifica, to join a legislative or a WA league. I brought that discussion up in the Cabinet and with my team. I wanted to join a league, but the decision not to join or create one was made by Rockiberg. It wasn't my call. We had these discussions in the Cabinet, but the call was made. We had other things to focus on, like leading a new region. Plus, I was focused on getting vacant positions filled and trying to solidify relations with our embassy regions. And I really don't think it was because of what you said. We have embassies with other regions because they are like-minded. The reason was not because of "a lack of willing like minded regions," it was because we had just moved from Thalassia. Again, we had other things to focus on. My ministry and I set up embassies, and we also built relations with our allies to point where it's possible to even create a legislative league with those regions. I had ambassadors, like you, who did a good job of building relations. I was FA minister before the move and after the move. I believed we should have joined a WA league, but it wasn't my call. And to believe it was because of what you said is false. It is time to join one because I believe in Thalassia and her ability to come together with other like-minded regions. The Imperial Welfare Union of New Camelot of Avalonia The Avalonian Government would be interested in cooperating with other left-wing advanced economies. If any nation would be interested that has good or rising civil and political rights, and economies with high levels of equality are invited to work with us. We envision an organization that builds consensus on issues like human rights, environmental protections, and trade. I will be endorsing Bormiar/Odin and voting for them in this election. They have a lot of experience behind them and I think it an honor that they're running to be our Delegate. I urge voters to take up this opportunity and put their votes towards Odin, and to read through the campaign dispatch below for all the reasons why. Bormiar for Thalassian Delegate April 2020 About Bormiar Hi! I'm Borm. I'm currently a quiet, impartial observer within Thalassia. It's very helpful for being in the Security ministry, but, having looked at the region, I'd like to get more involved. I've met many of you, and would like to connect to more Thalassians. However, the World Assembly is an international organization. It stands to reason that a prerequisite for understanding the WA is to be involved in the World Assembly. In fact, some of the best delegates (such as those that vote early), are WA authors. McMasterdonia, Kuriko, Imperium Anglorum-- all exceptional delegate-authors who have a) the knowledge to spur discussion; and b) the interest to vote early. Well, I've got WA involvement on my resume. I joined the SC in late 2019 with a ripple: first resolution to legitimize cards and recognize it as a part of the game. I had the energy and unbridled interest to beat the massive rule problems with the concept and found a new precedent. Since then, I've continued to love the WA. I've written 4 resolutions, one of which being the first to commend entirely for issue answering, and a far more artful writing than what past authors have written in their small, throwaway clauses mentioning stats. I've been trying out a roleplay resolution; have done GP; etc, so I know the fields. My rate of writing proposals is unnaturally fast, and at this rate (which is speeding up) I could have written the most commendations and condemnations (generally the substantive stuff) by the end of the year. I'm absolutely one of the only people who primarily considers themselves to be an SC player, maybe the only one. EDIT: Oh, just remembered, I also have already written a nations not endorsing script that separates the nations not endorsing you into groups of 8 (max group to tg without using stamps), so bulk endotarting for if I were elected is quick and easy. EDIT 2: I'm running for WA officer in TRR, just forgot to mention it. See why it doesn't matter here: page=rmb/postid=38068561 Goals Anyone ever wonder why the defenders have a lock on the SC, despite having historically had little voting power? They have authors. We don't need to subjugate ourselves to the whim of a big bloc just to give us more power, or even to make our own bloc. We don't need to make elaborate schemes to triple our endorsements. We don't need to be trumped by TNP over and over again through a cards program. What we need to do is cultivate World Assembly interest within our own members, and only then can we expand to massive, questionably-consequential projects. That's my goal. One basic thing to stress is that Thalassians should feel like they're making a difference. I won't vote with the in-game region vote, as that just hands our vote to the lemming effect (going with the popular vote) and doesn't encourage joining our discord. What I would follow is a system with reaction votes from WA residents in the discord server. I would follow this vote verbatim (even if it's against my own proposal) except in a situation where voting or voting how the region wants would defensibly hurt our region. I would be transparent about why if that rare case would ever be realized. So, other than enfranchising our members, how can we execute proper WA outreach? Here are some ideas (many of which I have seen provably effective):
Final Thoughts My goals aren't excessive. My goals aren't extreme. But they are attainable. They are necessary. And they are things I've proven to be able to do. My goals are the building blocks of an exceptional World Assembly community. I have my grounding, and I know what we need to grow. I trust you will listen to my experience and hope you will vote for me in the delegate elections. I'll get straight to the point. Vote for the best candidate possible, vote for Zentata!
Who Am I? Hello there fellow Thalassian! My name's Zentata, and I'm running to be WA delegate. But Zentata, you may be thinking, what have you done in NationStates so far? Alright, here we go: I've been in Thalassia since November.I'm a member of the Ministries of Information, Culture, and Foreign Affairs. As part of my job for information, I've written articles in the wave page=dispatch/id=1328895#1. In Foreign Affairs I'm the ambassador to The Leftist Assembly, I'm the deputy minister of culture and the map operator. This experience has given me a unique insight into this region's WA dynamics, and how to improve them. In terms of my personal life, I like pizza, and the color purple but not purple pizza, I like to collect things, especially stamps, and I hate doxxers, and I do not live in Antarctica. My Position in Politics and What I'm Going to do as The WA Delegate in Thalassia Here I'm going to talk about how I'm going to vote in the WA, and how I'm going to promote involvement relating to the WA. I believe in freedom. I believe in political freedom, civil freedom and, for the most part, economic freedom. To put it in a simpler way, I'm a personal leftist, but an economic centrist, who thinks that the state should help people become better and regulate the economy while promoting economic freedom to an extent (in short, the WA). I think that climate change is a real issue, and should take top priority in politics, and that ensuring the ability for people to live a good life is the purpose of the GA. That means that I support legislation that will make the world a better place. If the legislation is flawed, unneeded, or goes against freedom in a way that will make the world worse, then it will have my vote against. My votes in the SC will be based on whether the recipient deserves/needs the act. Now for what I'm going to do in Thalassia itself. I think that the WA needs to take a bigger role in Thalassia. We vote, but do we care? I'm going to do numerous things related to the WA in Thalassia, and all these ideas revolve around growing participation in Thalassia, here they are: -Endo Swapping Program, called Thalassiaendos. This will encourage more endo activity in the region by giving out rewards to those who endorse the most, and will also improve regional influence and security while we're all getting those nice endos. -Posting about WA proposals, and increased discussion. I plan to post a message on the RMB when I vote, explaining why I voted the way I did, and why you should vote this way too. If you think I'm voting in error, feel free to convince me to change. I will also make efforts to increase debate/discussion about proposals. In short, I want to be open with what I'm doing, and so I'm going to share with you, what, and why. -I'll also be active in the WA community. I believe that a WA delegate should be able to write and be an active force in the WA community, so you can be sure that I'll represent Thalassia on the WA stage by doing those things. I'll conduct myself with sincerity and decorum, and show the world that Thalassia is more then it seems (in a good way). -I WON'T RESIGN. You have been promised stability before, and you were failed. I promise you stability, but I'm not a semi-retired tired nation, or someone who won't talk out disagreements, I'm a nation whose career is just beginning, who has gotten the experience I need to lead you well. -I'll take suggestions. Do you want me to do something more, something else in my domain? Then I'll be open to suggestions, and be open with the people of Thalassia. -Synergistic endorsement limit. Do you know what happens when you don't have an endorsement limit? You can get people really close in endorsements to you, so if you resign, your vice delegate/president is not the second most endo'ed person in the region! This happened when cormac stepped down, and I was the first in Thalassia for endorsements until the government took action. This cannot happen again. As such, I'll institute a limit of 5 endorsements below my vice-delegate. This will prevent instability in the region. -I will investigate joining a legislative league. Without a doubt, a sure way to improve our relations and standing in the world is to join a league, or create one ourselves. Some Closing Words Citizens of Thalassia! If you want a WA delegate who will interact with the people, who will be open with the people, who will help and learn from the people, who will represent the people the way they should be, and Who Will Not Let Down the People of this glorious region, then vote for Zentata. I have been endorsed in this election by two previous prime ministers,Badivermeraed, and Arenado. Thank you for reading my dispatch! Please telegram me if you have any questions/suggestions, or wish for me to add a policy. Semper Thalassia. Grasswhistle, Yaldian Territories, and Arenado |

Another good way to boost the economy, is industry subsidies, otherwise known as corporate welfare. You could also cut taxes. Really, there are lots of things you can do that have beneficial economic knock-on effects. Good education and healthcare, for instance. Clarkstan, Ayeinc, and Zentata |
