The Tumbling Waves of Sunrise from the Sea

The rose, I love Göteborg and all Swedish islands, but in the summer.

Hennepin gardens. I saw that poll. Good, isn’t it? I said a hole is a thing.

Hello P115 friends!

There are only two days left to submit your photos to this year’s Forest Photo Contest! Submissions will close on January 21st at midnight GMT. Anyone from a region that has an embassy with us can submit photos.

If you haven’t dug out your best photos yet or snapped some great new ones for the Contest, I highly suggest you do so. We have four great categories this year!

You can find all the full information here:

Forest Photo Contest 2020

.

.

2020 has undoubtedly been a year like no other. The general consensus is that it’s been crazy if not outright terrible. But with the holidays and the new year just around the corner, 2020 is finally coming to an end. Before we move on to a hopefully smoother 2021, though, there’s one last thing that needs to be done: the sixth annual Forest Photo Contest!

Here's what you need to know:

🌲 We have four categories once again this year:

  • LinkTrees (this category is permanent each year)

  • LinkLight & Dark (photos that display astounding lights and/or shades)

  • LinkSeasons (photos that represent one of the seasons or a certain time of year)

  • Link2020 (any photo that resonates with or represents this crazy year)

🌲 You may submit up to 12 photos total. You may choose how to divide those among the different categories, but please do not submit more than 12.

🌲 Please post your photos in the appropriate thread on our forums, located Linkhere. You may also submit photos via a link to an image hosting site in a telegram to Mount Seymour.

🌲 The photos must be taken by you, but can be taken at any time (not just during the contest).

🌲 Anyone in Forest or in a region which has an embassy with Forest may submit photographs for the Contest.

🌲 Timing:

  • Submissions will be open from December 18 at 00:00 GMT (7:00pm Dec 18 EST) to January 23rd at 23:59 GMT.

  • Voting will begin on January 23rd at 23:59 GMT and end January 30th at 23:59 GMT.

🌲 Voting will take place on a Google Form. Needless to say, please no puppeteering!

🌲 The photographers with the top three photographs in each category will have their photos acknowledged on our RMB, on our World Factbook Entry, and potentially in our next foreign update. A banner will also be created with a collage of the top photos to applaud the winners, and participants in the competition will be encouraged to add it as their nation's custom banner. Forest's flag will also be changed to the 1st place photos in each category for a week after the Contest.

Now it's time to head out and start photographing! Good luck to everyone!

Any questions about the Contest should be directed to Mount Seymour.

You can head over to Forest's forums (https://forest.freeflarum.com/t/photo-contest) to submit your photos, or you can telegram links to the images to me.

Happy submitting!

The Tumbling Waves of Sunrise from the Sea

I failed to submit photos to this year’s Forest Photo Contest, but I watched the US presidential inauguration ceremony on the telly with satisfaction.

The rose wrote:I just have to share this gem with everyone here, because it's so fitting: Are you into contemporary films? Do you like to produce film reviews? Would you like to spend some time in the middle of the ocean? With your own cinema? This year's Göteborg Film Festival can't take place as usual. So, they will sponsor a festival for one person, The Isolated Cinema. Only you. The ocean. And 60 film premieres.

The Isolated Cinema on the island of Pater Noster is inaccessibly located at the very edge of the archipelago in one of Sweden’s most barren, windswept locations. One solitary film enthusiast will experience total isolation from the outside world. No phone, no family, no friends. Just you, the sea and the festival’s film programme with 60 film premieres. For seven days.

For seven days you will spend your time alone on the island where you will be given full access to the entire film programme at Göteborg Film Festival 2021. You will get supplies for seven days and be transported by boat to and from the island. But once there, it’s just you. And the films. During your stay, you'll be able to talk about your experience in a video diary that the outside world can follow.

When: January 30 – February 6, 2021
Where: Hamneskär, Göteborg archipelago
Number of places: 1

Question, if you leave a region do you lose your endorsements from that region?

Yes, indeed you do.

I am proud to be the second longest serving nation here ... without a break, that is. Lots of old nations in Philosophy 115 have taken wee breaks.

As Sunrise said, yes. If another region interests you, you can always create a new nation for the purpose of residing there. You can only have one WA membership, but you don't need to limit your participation in conversations to one region. No need to move, mitosis is easy.

BTW I've recently bought Thomas Kida: Don't believe everything you think, thanks to the recommendation in this community. Looking forward to reading it.

Interested to hear your thoughts and how it has held up over the years.

Hello, friends!

It has been a while since we have said hello from our region to yours. The recent events with Social Liberal Union remind me that our interregional ties are important, even though A Liberal Haven is not very active. Thank you for your continued friendship over the years!

Greetings friends. I was troubled to notice your founder has ceased to exist, leaving your region vulnerable to raiders, so I'm sending a puppet over to endorse all your WA members for increased security. I realise activity levels are much lower than they used to be, but I'd encourage those who are here to think about what can be done to protect the region at this troubling time. If I can help in any other way please don't hesitate to reach out.

It is 10000 Islands, my region. The doughnut party is over now, but I help run the doughnut shop, so I could serve you some doughnuts. What flavor and/or beverage would you like?

Chocolate cream filled, please.
As for your abbreviation, aren’t you mixing number systems?

*Hands you a bag of fresh, steaming hot cream filled doughnuts, with scents of chocolate wafting up from them*

I dunno if we're mixing the number systems or not; I didn't come up with it, but all I know is that the XK stands for 10000, and the I is Islands, and it's catchy, so we use it. Hope you enjoy your doughnuts!

Our dear founder lets his nations cease to exist from time to time, but never before Dr George.

The Swirling Shining Splendor of Red Star of the West

16 years and 9 days. We may not have seen the last of Dr. George but perhaps we have. All good things must come to an end.

I've enjoyed my time in this region and the nations/people I have met here, but I think I will be going on a walk about soon and most likely not returning. Take care everyone!

We’d miss you Red Star. I remember that you did a wee tour a couple of years ago. All the best to you.
