The Bahramians

Forgotten Arc

1. Jazz would make contact with NESDEC asking for a rescue team, they would be responded with a confimation of a rescue team. He would then grab everything and load it into a rover before driving back to Crash Site Epsilon, once back the team immediatly get to work on surviving.

2. The team would eventually build themselves an operational base with a few months work and are now finally growing food and also making mining trips, Nect and the Sargent seem to be getting close, The Capitan finally reveals her name as being Jade and talks about her Wife and two kids more.

3. After a year the team would eventually find some strange device in the deserts of the planet. They take it back and it is revealed to be some broken computer, but keep it anyway as it cpuld be alien in nature. Afterawhile they are messaged about a ship named the HCSS Lime Orb is said to be at the halfway point to Bahram.

4. After awhile the team has grown to somewhat family, Jazz has gotten Nect and the Sargent to finally get together while he himself has put up a permentant connections with the sattelite in orbit.

5. A year and 3 months have passed, the HCSS Lime Orb is nearing Bahram, the Bahramians have decided to established themselves to be the first Electran colonist as they put up a holographic flag of NE ontop of the base, and engraved their names into the rocks of different places they have been. The Captian is trying to reach the ship to hopefully get some information on their strange ship IPP (Idk).

6. Nect grows a full beard and is now being hunted by the other two women to have him shave, Jazz wrote his own jazz song and built his own saxophone. Now every night he plays his new song and some others to keep everyone entertained. Also the team have been tring to fix the discovered computer from the desert, but no luck.

7. Nect takes an unofficial drivers license test on his birthday, his heard not taking the shape of a Vikings beard. Jazz has wrote atleast 3 new songs, the Captian and Sargent adding in their own singing bits. And in other times the Sargent has been searching the area with the use of the satellite and the Capitan fixing the ships cockpit.

8. The HCSS Lime Orb is now in orbit above thw base, and after so long the team has to abandon their home. So many great memories of their ups and downs where there, writin on the wall or left in thw logs, the base will stand there forever. And maybe, just maybe they will return.

After some work the team are taken up to the ship and are now going through "recovery" all the while interecting with a mixed crew of different factions. Whoch takes them aback. And now they are being told everything that has happened ever since they have been stranded, and the news shock and even scare them.

9. Currently the LO has taken up dock with the NE owned Electro Station, where the team is preparing to finally return to Utopia, and come home to their families and friends.

"The Electricans reach out to the Dynasty, your grace." The Minister of Diplomacy told. "They seek your leave to build a military base on Fengese soil, and would request to hold diplomatic talks upon this matter. In return, Imperial swords may make use of their training facilities and its garrison may be called upon within times of discord and strife. Fengese planes would be able to land for repairs and refuels while the populace of its surroundings may use it as shelter. They await your majesty's response."

The Throne Hall was bright in the morning sun, though rapidly approaching its zenith at noon. There was the gentle perfume of incense mixed with the fragrance of flowers creeping in from the imperial gardens far away.

"The North Electricans have long assisted our cause." The Minister of Swords said. "The Fengese peace owes much to those of the United States. I believe our trust would be justified without doubt."

"But what is their motive? The face behind the facade? How would we know if their intent would be pure or dark?" The Minister of the Populace pointed out. "I believe we should be cautious, your grace."

There was the monotonous babble of murmured conversation.
"Let us find out when we hold the talks." The Empress said, instantly quieting the hall. "Minister of Diplomacy, I do believe you know what to do?"

"Indeed your grace." Came the reply. The minister bowed. "Mine ministry shall answer with all due haste."

Her Imperial Grace gives the North Electricans her most gracious and gratuitous leave to hold diplomatic talk in the Yongan Palace. Her Grace shall welcome all Electrican envoys and assures that the gates of the Yongan Palace would be wide open to receive the delegacy of the United States.

AusValia Council of Aeronautics Launches Xeon 1 Satellite to Bahram

Just after 3:00 am local time, the ACA launched off its first small exploration spacecraft towards a planet other than our own.

The Xeon 1, is equipped with nearly a dozen cameras and its mission is to fly past Bahram and send back pictures. The satellite will orbit the planet for several weeks allowing scientists to make a complete mapping of the planet. It will take seven long months before Xeon 1 actually reaches Bahram's orbit, but scientists at the ACA are very excited for what could be revealed,

"We know very little about this planet other than what has been published by other nations, but for AusValia, this is a major adventure as we continue to explore space outside of just our planet and moon.", Director of the ACA, Eugene Kranz.

Tornado Strikes Phoenix

It was a dangerous night for the people of Dow County in the city of Phoenix as two tornadoes tore through much the town.

250 homes and businesses have been damaged or destroyed, tree's down, hundreds without power, and nine people were injured. Mayor Mike Bennett has declared a City Disaster. The National Weather Council stated that the tracked tornado was rated and EF-4, spanning three blocks wide and traveling across three different counties, leaving extensive damage in Dow.

"Me and my son were thinking about leaving, and as we came out the door, we saw it, so we came back in and got in the bathtub. It was all we could do." Josh Waren, a local resident.

Blue Coast Mayor, Robert Richie Wins Conservative Primary

After five months of campaigning, the people of the AusValia Conservative Party (ACP), have picked Blue Coast Mayor, Robert Richie to be their nominee against United Future Party candidate, President John Williams.

Robert Richie is popular among many of the younger conservative voters, running on lower taxes and less government influence over education and healthcare, as well as promising a full repeal of many of the President's biggest accomplishments with gun control and tax reform.

Richie has served as Mayor for eight years and served in the City Legislature for ten years before that. He has stated he has, "the experience and drive to run this country and return it back to its former glory."

There has been no word yet on who the Mayor will pick to be his Vice Presidential pick.

NUIHF CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE OVER!

This season was amazing, as we've seen numerous comebacks and tight games, as well as several fights!

However, as the Bronze game and Finals are ended, it's once again time to end this season to this point.

Huronan team played really well this season. Their urge to become the NUIHF Championships was seen at the playoffs from quarterfinals to finals, as they won two elite countries, North Electrica in quarterfinals and Nordic Democratic Republic in finals! With Eddie Olczyk's goal, the team managed to win their first NUIHF Champions title! at same time, they're the first team ever to win NUIHF Championships from Group B!

Nordic Democratic Republic, as we previously said, had its own rocky moments, but they still managed to get in Finals third time in NUIHF History, but they played against Hurona, and they lost the game. We're really interested to see how well they play next year!

Serbatijan empire played really well in Quarterfinals but didn't manage to win Nordic Democratic Republic in Semifinals. However they managed to win bronze in Bronze Game against United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor. Congrats!

The NUIHF Season will take a little break, as always. We wish the best of luck for all of the teams for next year!

As the operator punched the fare card, she realized she couldn't remember a time when the streetcar didn't use that type of fare. She was assured that it had once used tokens and turnstiles back when it was just a subway, but now that it went aboveground... and she was at her stop already. This station was an underground one, with lavish tiling she was assured was about a century old. Some days she went here mostly just to look at it, but today she had a mission for herself- so she climbed the two flights of stairs into the library. She gave her name to the clerk, who passed her the diskette with the usual talk- "must've paid a pretty penny for this, a megabit file may take a while to load, remember to use the lower slot on the widescreen," all the junk she knew already. A short wait in line got her to the terminal- built like a metal pillar through the middle of the main room, with signs stuck on it saying "The timer for this terminal is set to TEN MINUTES per person per session." She wouldn't need that, considering all the terminal needed to do was show what was happening on the screen and not render it itself. With a click, the diskette was put into place in the machine's workings. The terminal whirred and whined... and an image appeared on the screen. She peered closely- that must be forty pixel mini-oscillators, all coming together from a cross shape for a construction. No sooner was the inner clump of themes together than the outer ones came in, all smushing together to form a familiar sight- a four-section moving oscillator that she had helped make the first mini-oscillator construction for. This one had maybe twenty less than hers! How exciting....

The Commonwealth of Arwindom

Rossendam, 21st April 2020

- HER MAJESTY EMILY CAMPBELL CROWNED EMPRESS -

As stated in a previous press release from the High Council, Her Majesty Emily Campbell has ascended the Throne as the 12th Empress of Arwindom. The coronation ceremony was held in Ebergarde Abbey in Rossendam, followed by a long procession along Whitehall Avenue to the Royal Palace. The royal carriage gracefully rolled down the paved road under the beating of drums and the cheering of the crowds.

After arriving at the Royal Palace, the new Empress delivered a 4-minute speech, in which Her Majesty expressed her gratitude to the people of Arwindom and expressed her determination to work together towards a brighter future.

Long Live the Empress!

- ARWINDOM READY TO GO TO THE MOON -

The Commonwealth Space Exploration Programme (CSEP) has announced today that the long-planned manned mission to the Moon is finally ready to start.

The sea-launched Fencer-LX reusable super-heavy-lift launch vehicle (SHHLV) is Arwindom's latest and greatest launch vehicle developed in 2017. Its first test flight without a payload took place in January of this year when it successfully reached the assigned altitude. After some tweaking and calibration, an improved version named "Emily" after the new empress is now positioned in the Gulf of Oarley, awaiting the command to start up its 27 massive engines and dart into the blue sky.

The stated goal of the Lunar Programme for this year is to transport a station to the low Lunar orbit and use it as a logistics hub for the second and third missions, which are respectively to place the first Arwinden party on the moon and then establish a semi-permanent 25-people settlement there. Unlike the Lunar programs of many other nations, they are meant to be done in a sequence, one after the other without a significant interval in between.

The current plan is to use the reusable Fencer-LX to launch modules of the "Pursuit-II" station (which will be the station in the low Lunar orbit) into North Utopia's orbit, assemble it there and then use a crew/lander module docked to the station to accelerate the "Pursuit" and allow it to escape NU's gravity. Upon arriving at the Moon, the lander would ensure that the station settles in the correct orbit and then separate from it to bring a flag and a trio of brave Arwindens to the surface.

The Astarese government would like to congratulate Arwindom on its first leap into the arms of the void, and to note its enthusiasm that the mission architecture that Astarey's Chasz-area missions use is being adopted by other nations. The sea-launch option for spacecraft is an interesting one- it certainly would enable more efficient launches, though our own attempts at seaborne equatorial launch are hampered by the lack of semi-local launch locations that the Meridian Commonwealth cannot object to. Would the Commonwealth of Arwindom be interested in a historic Chasz-orbital international spacecraft docking? We have multiple maneuver-capable stations in Chasz orbit, and given the specifications for your docking ports could construct an adapter between our respective designs.

Astarey,
Your proposal has been redirected to the CSEP following its reviewal by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

We want to thank you for your support and faith in our nation. We are convinced that cooperation is the only way to progress, and, as such, are more than willing to accept your offer to attempt an orbital international docking between our nations' spacecraft. Please contact our Mission Control Centre to arrange the exact date when you want the docking to take place so we could prepare for it in advance and get all the needed crafts and equipment in orbit.

The plan, for now, is to first assemble the "Pursuit" in orbit, then send up a "Hermes" class (the standard reusable Commonwealth crewed spacecraft) crewed mission to rendezvous with the station and take control of it.

The Hadleigh Aerospatial Design Laboratory has already been assigned the task of designing and producing a connector in the shortest time possible to send it up together with the "Pursuit" station. Given the relative ease of the task, the connector should be ready within less than a week.

Meanwhile, we want to use this chance to propose our nations take another step towards international cooperation by signing one of The Pacts. The Pacts have been introduced by the Commonwealth at the end of last year but have so far seen only limited implementation, and we are seeking to use any chance available to improve relations with other Northern Utopian countries.

Best Regards,

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth

The United Corlenian Cultures of Corlenia

"National homelessness rates are rising at an abnormally high rate, despite attempts by the central government to boost school and welfare funding, and cut taxes. Consequentially, alcoholism and drug use has peaked, with as many as 15% of teens of all demographics and age groupings consuming at least a liter of alcohol or 150 milligrams of any opioid in a month. The ministry of health has come out with a statement on the issue, stating that "the usage of opioids if not prescribed, and its unsupervised creation must be kept on tabs by our fine ministry. That is why, starting next week, it will be required to own a permit before creating any form of drug for public consumption." In other news, the St. Normia educational district has been halfway completed. The Arsinwood University of Technology and Science has opened its gates for new students, and the Corlenian Naval Museum has opened up once again. Still, over 58% of the district is covered in rubble and debris of shattered buildings. We do hope that-"

Hannah Garcia shut off her television before rolling over in bed and attempting to sleep. It had been the third time she had tried to cut through her restraints and rest, but her anxieties always seemed to be catching up with her every movement. Well, that wasn't it, exactly. It was more the fact that she could hear the hustle and bustle of downtown Port Novoda. If it was difficult to sleep in the afternoon, it was only slightly less so at 3 AM. She pulled up the covers until her muzzle was snuggled beneath the warmth of its fabric, and despite this small release of stress, her eyes refused to grow even a fraction of a gram heavier.
The sound of hammering on steel made her desperate attempts to slip away into subconsciousness even more difficult. Now the sound of electric drills and heavy machinery joined the mix. Not even a minute later, the resonating screech of sheets of metal being welded together joined the mix, and- "Okay, what on Earth is going on out there." She thought while her eyes slowly opened at the sound of a crane's hook latching onto a crate to bring it to some unknown location jolted her from yet another close encounter with her dreams.
She half-rolled half-drifted off her mattress to the open window. The moon's light illuminated the ocean beyond her, and the lights of nearby buildings cast shadows of other individuals on their respective panes. A look down at the harbor revealed to her a ship's bow, half-constructed and glimmering in the moonlight. It was slanted downward, and she could make out the emboldened words on its side. "CNDF Inquisitor" it read in its glory.
She thought at one point that all these sounds had to be connected to something, and given her apartment's close proximity to the harbor, a ship being built made the most sense. After all, it was the Port Novodians and their expert shipbuilding skills that created the Corlenian Navy and shaped it into what it is today. That was what they were most famous for and why the Corlenian government promised their leaders that they would be considered relevant and have a market to sell their expertly-crafted naval vessels to. This new ship, it would more than likely be naval, given Corlenia's history of over-militarization. Nevertheless, she decided that sleep was more important than her own internal monologue. Hold up... a call suddenly caused her phone to erupt in buzzing, as the light of the screen filled the room.
God simply must have not been on her side for the night.

The talk lasted another 20 minutes, something about work, another few words about friends, about the government, and a bit of meditation for the night. Finally, in a quiet room with closed blinds and locked windows, she could finally rest. A small smile spread across her face, as she felt the weight on her eyes increase in mass. A darkness blacker than night signaled her arrival into her dreams and-
Suddenly, the sound of clattering equipment and a faint swear shattered her focus and took her all the way back to the start. She cursed loudly, demanding that god stop teasing her for one second.

A restless night... again...

Conflict
"The High Weeb!"
Tomoharu Watanabe strode through into the Hall of Weebs of the Capitoline Palace, his head straight and face a mask of stern.
My first sitting in the Hall He thought. I better not make a fool of myself before I've even began
After a blessing from the High Priest of the Weebist Church, discussions of government began. There were five provinces in the Weebdom, not including the capital Takayama. They were named the same as their cities, which each is the seat of the great families of the nation. Their leaders, called Masters, sat in the Grand Council of Weebs and had an active voice in government affairs.
"A protest organisation seems to have emerged, your highness." Souhei Kinjou, or Lord Kinjou, of the city Kyokko, said. "It disturbs Kyokko's peace."

"In Gengetsu too." Said Yuuhi Kawahara, or Lady Kawahara. "They do seem well organised."

"Let us crush them!" Hoshihito Satou, or Lord Satou of the city Jimouri, cried. "We take their blood and trample their bodies. Our swords lie in waiting-"

"How tactless." Rieko Fukuhara, or Lady Fukuhara of Fukuda said. "Surely you know better not to be too bloody with this? Ah of course I forgot. Those of house Satou are all brawn and brain."

"What did you say?" Shouted Lord Satou. "Come here and fight me, I would like to see you try to land any blow on me. Yours is a city of girls with no manly-"

"Enough you two, settle down." Tomoharu sighed. Of course I'll have to deal with those two. The sword and the sakura blossom, Fukuhara and Satou never got along, that is a known fact.

"Anyways, your highness. I would suggest that we deal with this more indirectly, open action would do naught to our image would it?" Lady Fukuhara told. "To prevent them gaining support, and to perhaps sway them from their goal, we could have the channels broadcast a few romcom animes designed to gain public attention. Perhaps that would do for now."

"I still think we should use our swords." Lord Satou grumbled. "I need-"

"Oh do shut up, if we follow your advice the Weebdom would be slammed by the world."

"Perhaps we could do something about our education?" Souhei Konjou, or Lord Kinjou of the city Kyokko, said. "Moralistic education, subtly nudging them to the principles of weeb."

"Or perhaps a distraction in another way." Crooned Lady Yuuhi Kawahara of Gengetsu, and a known advocate of free love. "The art of love shall soothe their simmering anger, perhaps if we promoted a few love stories to take up their gossip they will surely cease. Perhaps just in case, more pleasure districts be opened for their leisure... if they so want."

Tomoharu thought for a while. "Let us wait for a while." He said "They are not causing much trouble, let us see when they do."

"As you wish, your highness." They bowed their heads.

"And may the Almighty Senpai above bless fortune to your highness" The High Priest said.
Ah yes, luck. I'll need lots of that in running this place.

There was the deep, heart throbbing boom of enormous drums as the Imperial Entourage swept into view. Troops of servants fell to their knees as Empress Taihe herself stepped forward surrounded by servants, in a silken robe trailing six feet behind, and with hair elaborately tied and studded with jewels.
"My greetings." The Empress said, smiling, as she stepped forwards to meet their lead. "Your journey must have wearied you all. Would you care for a rest before we begin? I do have some fragrant tea of exquisite taste that I am eager to present." She smiled, awaiting reply.

A Game of Grace: First Impressions

Feng Dynasty wrote:A Game of Grace: Introduction
“Come now, you have a few strands loose.”
Jinyuan’s mother fussed over her hair, tucking it delicately back to the ensemble of buns and knots that graced the top of her head. “Our Luo House is an ancient family, though alas fortune’s favour was not always by our side. You are our only child, Jinyuan. And our only hope too. At the Palace there will be the chance to turn our fortunes for the better.”

“Indeed.” Her father said. “The wealth, power, and future of our family depends on you this spring.”

“You need worry naught, my Lord Father and Lady Mother. I shall reclaim our family glory.” She smiled. “Fear naught, I shall take good care.”

And so she left the gates of the Luo estate with her parent’s words close at heart, and rode in a carraige through the towering Palace gates. At each birth of the new spring, the noble families: families of courtly officials and the in-laws of the Imperial Family, send their sons and daughters who passed 16 to the Yongan Palace of Taijing for the length of a moon’s turn for the Ensemble: a tradition dating back many dynasties. It was where the young men and women of the nobility found love, and with luck, marry at the coming of adulthood. Due to this, many give it an alternate name: the Game.

She joined the large assembly within the sprawling throne hall, where the aisle in the centre and the throne’s high dais was the only spaces clear.
“Jinyuan?” Someone called. “Could it be?”
She turned to see her school friends, waving at her to come. She hurried towards them, taking care to hold up her trailing robes. “Lixin? Chunxing? Could it truly be you?”

“Of course, who else?” Lixin said.

“You two are here for the Ensemble?”

“Of course, none of us can miss this occasion? There are many good chances just floating within our reach.”

“Indeed.” Chunxing added. “An unmissable tradition. Oh, by the way do you know Fengxian?”

“Of course.” Jinyuan replied. Fengxian is president of the student council in her school, the Imperial Academy. “What of her?”

“Turned down eleven confessions last Ensemble. Many were of great and rich houses too, and handsome…. We think she is hoping for one from that haughty son of house Yu.”

“Him?” Jinyuan scoffed. “Does she not understand that her hopes are in vain?”

“Her ears were closed to all reason, it was said.” Lixin sighed. “A proud man. He thinks himself too exquisite for any odd girl. My, I’m starting to think that he aims for Princess Jia herself.”

“Princess Jia knows better, thankfully.” Chunxing told. “Stubborn and brimming with arrogance, I heard that he boasts of his confidence of becoming heir to the Yu household. I do hope his parents are wise and grant his brother the honour-”

“All hail Her Imperial Grace, Empress Taihe, First of Her Noble Name, Ruler of the Feng Dynasty, Lady Protector of the Hua, Lakvar, Manzhu, and Nanyue, Daughter of the Dragon, and Wielder of the Blessed Mandate of Heaven.” A herald sang out.

“Let us talk later.” Her friends smiled and waved before they knelt with the rest of the crowd, their skirted robes swirling in the air.

Empress Taihe herself stepped forward to the harmony of bells and drums. Her Imperial Robes trailed seven feet and her hair was elaborately and gracefully arranged, studded with a garden of gold and emerald flowers. “Please, arise.” She urged when she reached the throne and turned to face the crowd. The Empress waited until the sound of moving feet ceased before going on.
“The Ensemble is an ancient ceremony, a tradition of finding love within the halls and gardens of the Imperial Palace.” She smiled. The Spring hails new growth, and the blossoming of romance for it to bloom with the peonies.” She straightened a collar. “The Yinchun Palace will be your stay, and servants to see to your every need. Wander the gardens, laugh within the halls. Spring is the season of flowering, each flower a beautiful work of art. You are the wanderer in sprawling garden, and each person you see in this room is a flower in full bloom. Look around, smell the perfume, and pick one that stirs your heart. Choose with care, and choose with thought. But do not tarry long, or the flowers will wilt and fade away as time runs away.” She nodded. “I thank you all, please do enjoy yourselves within the Imperial Palace.”

They knelt in answer and stood for the Empress’ exit.
“The Ensemble is also called the Game, did you know that?” Lixin asked.
“I do” Jinyuan answered.
Lixin smiled. “The Game of Grace, it is called. A game of the hearts. It shall begin as soon as the last of Her Grace’s robes slide over the threshold of the hall. Who will you choose Jinyuan? How will you play? And when you found one that stirs your heart, how will you achieve your goal?”

Jinyuan turned to the doors. There was the entourage following the Empress. Within the forest of feet, she made out the thick silk sliding out of view. It fell from the threshold with a soft murmur.
The Game has begun

Jinyuan's New Chambers

"Your chambers, my lady." A servant told.
In another part of the vast Palace expanse, as the Empress welcomed the US diplomats, Jinyuan was led to her suite of chambers within the Changchun Palace (长春宫), the Palace of Everlasting Spring, one of the many smaller Palatial courtyards within the vast Yongan Palace built solely for the residence of those in the Ensemble. The room that met Jinyuan's eyes was the Drawing Chamber, the first room one would enter. There was a small throne-like chair at one end, and several more chairs at the sides as well as large turquoise censer in the center. There were tables with vases and jade ornaments, as well as carved wooden screens.
"A room apt for my lady." Hupo (琥珀) told. She was Jinyuan's closest attendant, accompanying her mistress from the Luo family estate until she was called back for urgent matters.

"Indeed" Jinyuan said. "Her Grace has done much labor on this maiden of a humble house. Do send my gracious thanks to the Empress, this would do more than well."

"I shall, my lady." The servant bowed. "The Empress invites all in the Ensemble to dine in the Baolien Hall for luncheon, though her grace does send her regrets that she cannot attend due to matters of urgency. Would your ladyship be there?"

"Of course"

The servant bowed once more. "Than if it please my lady, I shall take my leave."

Baolien Hall

They entered the hall, Jinyuan changed to a long trailing robe of dark green silk, embroidered with blooming peonies that shimmered as she made her way in. All eyes were upon her: eyes of curiosity, eyes of appraisal, of observance, and some of indifference.
"Jinyuan!" Chunxing cried from a table, where she and Lixin were waving. "Come, let us sit together!"

"You all are here too?" Jinyuan asked as she smoothed her skirts and sat.

"Of course we are, this is a very good chance." Lixin replied.

"For?"

They looked and Jinyuan incredulously. "Surely you did some research?" Chunxing exclaimed.

"I-"

"Oh no matter. You see, the first meal you have on the first day of your Ensemble is a time for first impressions." Chunxing explained.

"Indeed." Added Lixin. "You look your best and have a wander around, or sit. Whatever you please. What is important is to observe; observe every man that passes as if wandering a garden and searching for the best flower to pick."

"Study their eyes, read their face." Chunxing told. "Search for hints of their personality from their facade. When you find the men you like, find their names and remember them for the future." She smiled. "That's how you start the game."

The game indeed, Jinyuan thought. A game of love.
She turned her gaze, jeweled ornaments tinkling in her elegantly tied hair, to the passing crowds.
I will not fail She thought.

The Commonwealth of Astarey

We are ... more than willing to accept your offer to attempt an orbital international docking between our nations' spacecraft.

Either of the two Astarese staging stations could be used for this docking, or for support of Arwindom's landing efforts. A manned crew launch will be required before either takes place, but Chasz-capable crew ferry spacecraft are kept in launch-ready configuration and can be ready to launch within two weeks. The docking adapter would be attached at the forward port of either station, with the crew ferry serving as tug at the aft port.

The Astarese Parliament is willing to debate the utility of Astarey subscribing to one of the pacts in its next session. Details will follow at the end of the first meeting.

The Weird little lumps of Neyde Spears Kingdom

Alunageorge news here, with an extremely important report. The Skyfoogle has become enraged, it has began to attack the local coastline and has already caused extreme damage, including the near death of local celebrity Miss Juicy. We advise everyone to stay inside. That includes witches. Remain underground if possible and do not under any circumstances eat crackers and cream cheese. In order to provide some entertainment in these dark times we are airing an audacious marathon of old Fist Of Flame episodes. So sit back and relax, cause things are about to get rad!

("George why do we have to use that slang?" Aluna groaned as they went off air.
"Its either that or we get fired. And we need the money for the new album."
Aluna signed, and turned on her telly. "Ooh it's the episode 5 sex scene!"

The Commonwealth of Astarey

The first plane to take off looked unusual- a thin, deep fuselage slung beneath four similarly-sized wings, with stubby little tail fins on either side of the fuselage. Its wings were studded with drop tanks, and its engines were two simple turbofans. Its flight path would snake around the continent, carefully avoiding the Meridian Commonwealth and the actual target within.

The second plane was almost more conventional- like an upscaled fighter in its form factor, with two swept wings and a tall, tall tail fin. Its bomb bay was opened flush to a large tank- not quite needed, but possibly useful in the event of one of the aircraft running low on fuel- and its six engines were all far outboard to make room for the long, thin rocket under its wing. Hours after the first plane, it ran north, then turned west and climbed as high as it could... and let go of the rocket.

The rocket's design was the product of a few decades of feverish paranoia and desperate hope. The goal was a better image than could be accomplished by satellite- and hopefully a ship just good enough at its job to avoid detection. The long rocket would propel the ship barely suborbital, then a slow dive would let it take high-quality photographs before dropping its film bucket leisurely into the waiting net of the capture plane. The capture plane would fly home, the cargo crew would cut free the film bucket and load it into the cargo pod, and the cargo pod- crew and all- would be loaded onto a train and sent wherever military secrets live.

It almost went well. The ascent was nominal, the glide was running fine, photos were taken of the target kilometres below- and then a winglet twitched. The computer's advanced circuits, only a couple decades behind the global curve rather than the five to seven of most Astarese technology, overcorrected- and then there wasn't a computer, or a camera, or a spacecraft anymore.

"Ah, Gołoi Fore, no-go on the pickup. You need us to get you fuel, or do you have enough to get back on your own?"
"We should be fine, Gołoi Aft. Shame on the loss, you'd think that after half a decade and with half the flights failing they'd come up with a new type of weather satellite...."
"You'd think, Gołoi Fore."

The Democratic Socialist State of Kjanu

The dim metallic halls of Huklan were full of the huddled masses of Kjanuans. The entire section had been in repeated blackouts following the destruction of the Central Nounnin Power complex, and sporadic messages from the President came over the network’s PA system. Repeatedly, the refugees in the vault had been told of good news from above, and that their time in the vaults was coming to a close, but as months passed the end of the Serpenteum War and the chaos continued, the spirits of the Kjanuan people fell.

President Karugama knew the government needed to find a solution quickly. Fears of not only Jezabelstien and Miotia-Candor stepping in, but also citizen groups gaining enough support to pose a real threat plagued the central government. These fears led calls to remove Karugama from her position as the figurehead of the government from members of the National Council as had been done with On Songhyon. The President, not only for her own sake, but out of dedication to the ideals of Shen Lan, was going to act fast.

Luckily for President Karugama, deep within the labyrinthine halls of Huklan the National Reclamation Project was nearing the conclusion of its efforts. Utilizing resources from the now-defunct Kjanuan Public Defense Committee, it had managed to redouble output on the Civilian Defense Units and retaken most of central Kjanu. President Karugama met with Shimada Hirohisa, the scientist appointed to head the Project, in the Project’s headquarters under Neo Neo Neo Jhanthu, a large room covered in digital screens and control centers, one of few facilities to be rationed power at all times.

President Karugama walked through the doors and stood behind the control center of Hirohisa. “Yijun sent word that you had something to show me?”
The scientist faced the President, and then turned back around to his workstation. “Yes, though I was expecting you later. Give me a second to turn on the lights.”

The scientist began work at the station, giving orders to others in the room. The previously silent room filled with noise as people ran from station to station, shouting orders and responses back and forth. Bright red lights filled the glass wall in front of the control center, creating a red fog through which only a blurry shadow could be seen.

---

Hirohisa was in the National Council’s secondary chamber. A bright room, built entirely of pure white marble, it’s arching staircase of seats held the council’s 1000 members. Hirohisa stood in the middle, looking up at five Councilmen.
“Shimada Hirohisa, you stand in front of the National Council, we will now hear your case.”
“Thank you Chairman Liu. I am here today to request the establishment of the National Reclamation Project, as written out by President Hui in 2008. I presided over the exploratory committee on the project's feasibility and have deduced it to be the most effective response to the current crisis, and the safest defense for Kjanu. It is my personal-”
“That’s enough.” Chairwoman Hua said. “We don’t need to hear this rhetoric from you as well. We’ve already agreed to fund the Project in full, you are here to tell us why you should be head of the Project.”
“My apologies Chairwoman Hua, I was unaware of the Council’s decision. Of the few members of the Kjanuan government made aware of the Project’s purpose, outside of the Council, only few remain. Fewer still can be trusted with a project as important as this. The world constantly moves towards increasing disorder and chaos, it has long been our purpose as a body to serve as the vanguard against this path of destruction. The National Reclamation Project will stop not only the current crisis, but allow Kjanu to truly achieve its purpose, and with a project so great, we need a trustworthy individual in charge. My record within the government is long, and my past duty to Kjanu known, and I’ll leave you to look over my record to see for yourselves.”
“We are well aware of your dedication Shimada, as Chairman of the National Council I hereby appoint you to the Head of the National Reclamation Project. You may now leave.”
With that, the Chairman put his papers down and many in the National Council began to silently leave the room.
“Thank you, Chairman Liu.” Hirohisa said, bowing to the chairman above.
“Remember your duty Shimada, do not fail us.”

---

The fog in the window parted enough for the shadow of a giant skeletal structure.
“We only have the skeleton complete, but work should finish shortly on the rest of the body and we should be able to use it within a month.”
“That’s good… but, what is it?”
“The main focus of the Project. Something to protect us from all our threats. Fully automated, only needs us here to control it. We don’t have a name for them yet, Sung-min wanted to call it a god-warrior but that was a little self-serving.”
“You aren’t explaining much Hirohisa.”
“I don’t need to, you’ll see when it’s done.”
