Why on God's green Earth would you choose space army over Astra Militarum? That's like choosing to call your stealth fighter simply "stealth fighter" instead of Raptor or Lightning II. It's lame and boring.
But when you say 'my stealth fighter', everyone will know what you're talking about. Raptor or Lightning II could be a car, a motorcycle, or a spicy dish. I don't have an issue with names, I just think often the generic term is clearer. And you often don't have to memorize how to spell the name. Like with Rollspelskra, I think everyone just ended up calling it the RP guild anyways.
Pretty sure the earth is brown and blue from space, not green. xD
It's a weird quirk of English that we feel a need to make more formal words sound more complicated by using Greek/Latin roots for them. Probably a combination of the Norman conquest introducing French as the high language (leading to weird distinctions such as pig/pork), and early modern English people loving Greek/Latin so much.
Example: hydrogen in German is Wasserstoff literally 'water stuff'. This seems odd and funny until you remember that that's basically what hydrogen means too, just in Greek.
I don't know, I like my water stuff with a bit of oxygen mixed in xD That is insightful though, and now we've all thought of the Roman Empire for the day.
Oh yeah! I was asking before...do you know if there's any significance to the two diagonal stripes at the bottom-right of people's flags in NH? I noticed a lot of people have them...is it just to mirror the regional flag or is there a greater meaning behind it?
I suspect our current one was uploaded long ago when file limits were much smaller. I could re-create that design, if that's the consensus, but here's a variant to kick-start the discussion.

I kinda like the starry background. It makes sense for a region with a space sci-fi theme. ^-^
I have to admit I'm fond of the structure of the current flag though, especially with how everyone has put those stripes from it in their flags.
The region flag was made with the rule that says the design needs to be simple enough that a young person could recreate it. This rule has been applied to most flags used around the world, so we saw it fitting to use it for ourselves as well.
