Ruinenlust wrote:Without intending to offend or make light of people who committed to operating many puppets, to me, this is yet another example of how certain things should be limited to WA nations only. Regardless of whether someone is personally against the World Assembly, there's no rule that you can't have a puppet as your WA nation, and you can of course always join for the purposes of a game and then leave afterward.

Think of the "Best Nation of the World" April Fool's thing, where it was mostly comparing whether Womple 3756 or Womple 8764 was better. Who cares? That event should have been limited to WA nations, and it would have been much more meaningful and manageable. In the same way, N-Day should be limited to WA nations. Now, it rests on the ability of a relatively small subset of people sitting in front of their computer for 24 hours and operating a fleet of personal puppets, whereas people who only used one or two nations might as well have not bothered. If things were limited to WA nations (since that's the best way to make it 'one nation, one person' by proxy; it's not like there's anything magical about the WA in itself), then the factions would have been much smaller, and the overall effectiveness of a faction would have been dependent on how many actual people participated in a broad way, not whether a small subset of real humans were committed to puppet shepherding. And all of the non-WA nations (in this scenario) would simply be unable to play, unable to enter factions, to be targeted or struck, etc.

And doing the same thing with Z-Day would also have its advantages.

I'm not fully up on what goes on but the whole thing seems like the most unfun thing possible, except ofc for the people deciding the strategy for their mega-block. YMMV but running someone else's script to manage your hatful of puppets and clicking a pile of buttons in the exact order someone else told you to is about as exciting and interesting as a dose of the squirts.

I hate my life. I'm usually free on the weekends, but I had my uncles retirement party and birthday so that was all day, then the next day we went to my Grandmas for his birthday since they were 2 separate events and I was there all day and I miss N-Day because of that. Or is this just all a big excuse for me being lazy. Add another event missed to my current streak.

The general consensus is that this year's N-Day left something to be desired, so I wouldn't worry about having missed it. I certainly didn't participate in it much and it devolving into a two-party system meant it was certainly a downgrade to last year, the only other N-Day I was present to compare it to.

Hope your schedule (and mine) allows you (and me) to participate in Z-Day in a month's time. Disregarding my first participation immediately after my founding, Z-Day has been much, much more enjoyable in my experience.

Its a Zombie invasion type deal where zombies are invading every Nation in Nationstates. You can choose i think 2 classes at the start or its randomized but the 2 classes are Military specialist where you can get military squads faster and more zombies go dead. Also I think there is a researcher where you will get more research points (I think its 1 research every 5 minutes) You have 3 options to deal with the zombies, you can. A: Try and fight off all the zombies and kill every zombie possible. (You can also send assault squadrons to other Nations to kill zombies for them). B: Find a cure, you can research a cure and send "cure" missiles at other Nations to cure zombies there. You can also cure zombies in your own nation. C: Become "Friends" with the zombies and send zombies to other Nations to attack them and destroy their survivors. Yeah that basically sums it up.

Forgotten Beauty wrote:Oops, I missed the event...

How did we do?..

Well. Uh. I wanna say only 2 Factions in the entire event had a chance of winning. Ours, (Being the Potato alliance) and the Crabs. Which utterly demolished this N-Day event. All the top winning Factions were all Crabs, which being smaller factions of the Main Crab alliance. Using insane amounts of puppets and 16 thousand people in the Crab Alliance along with 9 other smaller crab factions who all got on the leaderboard. Our faction had 8k which is pretty good but 16k vs 8k isnt very good odds. So its safe to say no one else could have won.

Official Lore Ministry Post
Hello all,

I know the 2021 Chan Island Administration is technically over and therefore my job as the Lore Minister is on hold, but seeing as I am still an election Officer and I am still running both of ours RPs, I figured it would be ok if I make this post.

I come with a big announcement about both of our RPs currently going on: they are merging!

Since the beginning I have hinted that these two RPs may influence each other since they are happening around the same time, and this finally came to a head when Shira Meron, the Baraelan activist who has lead the Occupy Forest movement since its beginning, announced that they were all going to be heading up to the Forest EcoCON summit in First Creek Falls to protest, since the entire EcoCON had become very corporatized and greenwashed even since companies were invited to participate in the convention.

And so now, these two RPs are going to be merging into one, "Occupy the Forest EcoCON"! Basically, how this will work is that I will shortly ask the mods to lock both of the threads for the original Occupy Forest and Forest EcoCON RPs. Then, I will create an IC thread and an OOC thread for the combined RP. I will include links to the IC threads of both RPs, as even though they will be locked they will still be viewable, and that way people who only participated in one of them can catch-up on the other. The rules will also stay the same: Modern Tech, humans-only, be fairly realistic, and Forest-only, though for this you do not need to be in the Union of Forest to participate. You will, however, be required to have participated in either of the original RPs in order to join the combined RP.

This is a truly exciting project, and I am really so happy about how it is turning out and how many people have participated in them. Thank you all, and let's Occupy the Forest EcoCON!

I tried really hard this election not to become a simp hype man again (brap brap), but it was too much to resist.

In the name of tradition, and without it being an official endorsement of any one candidate over the others, this one goes out to a guy who's thicc like a chicken and smells as fresh as thyme (skrrt skrrt).

As the election campaign rages on, it must by now be obvious that I'm not standing for reelection. This is because I feel like after a year of lockdowns, the computer is the last place I want to be, a sentiment I do not believe is conducive to being leader of an online community.

Anyway, good luck to the candidates, and may the best one win.

Ruinenlust, why are you voting against this SC proposal? I'd think a condemnation of region griefing would be exactly the kind of thing Forest would support.

The Concordant Stratum of The Cypher Nine

Early on the east coast but here are my campaign promises heading near the end of campaign week.

Hello Forestians,

Hello Forestians, I am here after being part of an amazing government to bring my campaign forward for the next Forest Keeper.

If Should I be elected for a term as Forest Keeper will be to support our mission to the Environment by continuing Chan’s government and continuing to focus on initiatives that keep our region secure. With this in mind The Cypher Nine humbly submits the following campaign goals in hopes that they align with the hearts and minds of all Forestians:

1. Forest should not be having elections during events. I plan to propose moving the dates of the elections ever so slightly to align better with major events.

2. I want to explore how game legal technology, applications, discord bots, and other outside tools can help keep our region secure by making things easier for the administration. This should also help transparency in the region and provide data in forms we may not currently have access too.

3. Forest is a region with great pedigree. I remember when I first joined and it seemed impossible to ever measure up to the game knowledge some nations possessed. But now here I am running to lead the government. I want everyone, even the newest member to not only feel welcome but also that they can provide value to Forest. With that in mind a goal of mine will be to curate position requirements for various government positions both modern and past to give a frame of reference of how to contribute.

The Cypher Nine has been a committed member of Forest for over 4 years. They have served as ambassador to 10,000 islands, as culture minister in the regional government and most recently Deputy Forest Keeper. They do more than bleed Forest, its in their nations DNA. Vote for The Cypher Nine. Vote for A Dutiful Gardener.

Hello citizens of Forest, I’m just dropping by to announce (and to introduce myself to those who don’t already know me) that I am the new Minister of Foreign Affairs for The Leftist Assembly. I hope to foster more inter-regional communication and activities this term, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions.

Since I have taken on this role, I will be looking to appoint someone to replace me as ambassador to Forest in the coming days. Also, since it looks like The most serene republicans/Gura and matos CTE’d a couple weeks ago (I do hope they’re okay, I always valued their input on our RMB), we would love to have a new ambassador from Forest to TLA as well!

I do see you’re in the middle of an election right now, so I realize things might be hectic as you go through the transition, but I’ll definitely be keeping in touch!

In solidarity,

Mount Seymour wrote:Ruinenlust, why are you voting against this SC proposal? I'd think a condemnation of region griefing would be exactly the kind of thing Forest would support.

*that excited look when someone in class actually asks a question about the material at hand*

In an immediate sense, I voted with the majority in Forest on this one (I believe that the margin at that time was wider in the "against" direction, but I don't remember), and I waited a while to vote to see where the voters would go, which I often do when I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other.

In a wider context, I'm not too impressed with the entire Declaration category, frankly (and that's why I didn't have a strong preference on this one). If there were an actual change to the mechanics of the game (such as what Terrabod previously brought to my attention with the proposal for Frontier/Stronghold regions and the ability to regain a Founder and to appoint a Successor), I'd be 100% behind that, because it would actually do something to protect the region. While that sort of thing is beyond the ability of the SC to actually do, it doesn't change that these Declarations amount to 'nice sentiments' about something. I have voted for a few of them (like the Hippopotamus thing), but in general, I'm not too keen on them.

To be clear, I don't like raiding, and I don't like the idea of raiders destroying regions for the "fun" of it. I wish that that dynamic did not exist in the game, and that there were a button I could push to exempt Forest from the whole practice. But despite that the Declaration "condemns destructive raiding practices with the full diplomatic weight of the Security Council," I don't see what that actually does, either. :-/

Although, if you are legitimately running for Forest keeper I hope you would actually make a real campaign. Well if this campaign gets you some votes I wish you luck!

Speaking of votes, when does the voting for Forest keeper start?

If we run a Lore-Culture Joint Contest for a Forestian Anthem, as suggested a few times here and there, then I nominate Terrabod to make a submission, preferably a rap supporting TC9 with an innuendo about trees at the end.

Awwww, MSR died? That's really sad, they always made such interesting contributions to our RMB! I've always loved all the conversations we had about lore, fictional mythology, and Brazilian politics. I hadn't seen them on the RMB for a while, but I had merely assumed that they were taking a bit of a break from the RMB. Welp, that's really dissapointing, and I do hope they come back!

I tried to spice it up for myself to try to got at it alone with a number of puppets halfway during the event, but nope that didn't help. Hopefully next year N-day will be more fun!

After this N-day my opinions about N-day and Z-day flipped lol. Z-day was a bit annoying in that zombies are involuntary, but the hiding option from last year helps.
It's fun being part of your region's anti-zombie efforts. Or you could fight against yourself in your puppet region. More possibilities than N-day :D
