Greetings from The Planet X! As Minister of Foreign Affairs, I would like the emphasize our enthusiasm for our new embassy. We look forward to strong, and mutually beneficial relations. Reaganomics, deescalation of the Cold War, the crack era — the 1980’s was a fascinating time in American and global history. As former US President Ronald Reagan stated in 1983: "I call upon the scientific community who gave us nuclear weapons to turn their great talents to the cause of mankind and world peace: to give us the means of rendering these nuclear weapons impotent and obsolete." The Planet X would like to echo the statements of Reagan, as we are a planet completely devoted to scientific achievement and peace in the cosmos. We look forward to a bright future and an amicable friendship. |
The Star Trek TOS Movie Enjoyer of Eripolis I just love it for the culture - the music, the optimism for whatever the future held, along with some pessimism. The stuff people used back then - cars, computers, telephones and cellphones, TVs, clothes, etc. - were all designed to have a no-nonsense feel to them, basically "Here's your product, no frills tacked on.". Most pop culture was a bit cheesy, although I can forgive that - it's the 1980's, after all! People travelled - I watch old airline commercials on Youtube sometimes, and watching those ads brings to me a sense of nostalgia- what's the word- oh, right, I get a sense of anemoia when watching those ads. I was exposed to a lot of 80s pop culture when I was a kid. |
