The Empire of Westbeech

The Controlist Ferwerter Union wrote:"Our discussions have been fruitful indeed and it will be a new start of better Ferwerter-Westbeechian relations. Of course it would be possible to meet with our allies and I encourage you to reach out to them when you have the time. In time the Ferwerter Union hopes to create a broader alliance across the Aurelian continent and beyond, which would ensure peace and promote prosperity and global development. Indeed we may meet again soon and it would surely be a pleasure." Stahitmao laughs. "But first I need to win a re-election, or we might not speak again at all." Stahitmao grabs the papers and reaches into his breast pocket for his favorite pen. In an overly dramatic way he signs the papers with grand loops and clean lines after which the entire delegation bows in perfect synchrony to the diplomates of Westbeech before Stahitmao returns the papers. "Then all that remains is to wish you a good journey back to Westbeech and to hope for a shared destiny of joint prosperity between our peoples."

"If that is all, then I suppose it would be time to make my leave." Lilie stood up and curtseyed while the two diplomats packed away the packet into a secure case. Lilie's smile continued to beam. "And I'm certain your election will going swimmingly. Who wouldn't want it any other way! And whatever way the election goes, there most certainly may be a time I may contact you again, as I always do appreciate friends." As the diplomats finished preparing Lilie nodded, then looked to Stahitmao for dismissal, her head tilted with her smile still bright.

When receiving the message, the Big Five looked to Lilie, completely dumbfounded about a religious group individually requesting permission to practice and establishing itself in a nation. Lilie simply shook her head and said, "I can only see this going poorly. If they don't gather followers, I am most certain that it will lead to the implanting of individuals supportive of the "CoP". Not to mention I have heard of rumors in Spiritual Republic of Caryton where they may be attempting to influence the government. I don't think allowing such a movement here would ever benefit what we are. The answer, put simply, shall be no. But of course, give them the whole spiel about appreciating the request, unfortunately there are complications, etc. etc...."

Dear Church of Positivity!

After the arrival of the message to the Council building,
Council Fragment of International Affairs has debated about allowing
the church of positivity into our nation. And we decided to kindly reject your offer.
We do not want you to take it as an act of hostility, but simply with a
new international group of people joining our ways, stability in our nation could lower even more.
And with our nation being now even more prone to outside influence, we sadly can't accept your generous offer.

The Greater People's Empire of The Controlist Ferwerter Union

The Great Ferwerter People's Palace | The Discussions over a new Supreme Chairman continue

It was a slightly foggy, but beautiful morning in central Ferwert and the sun rose happily above The Great Ferwerter People's Palace casting an enormous shadow over Vrijhof Square. It could have been perfect for some Ferwerter propaganda documentary. But really it should have been storming today. Majestic clouds striking their thunder, hail barreling down upon the Ferwerter lands. Instead the most dramatic weather of today came in the form of a light drizzle.

Stahitmao walked along the bridge that connected the House of the Helmsman to the Great Ferwerter People's Palace. Today was the beginning of discussions over the new Supreme Chairman within the Central Committee and things were not looking good. Over time he had lost support within the Central Committee. Of course eventually the Supreme Chairman was approved by the Ferwerter People's Congress, but that was merely a formality. They had never rejected a Supreme Chairman put forward by the Central Committee and it was never going to happen as well. For the first time in a decade Stahitmao felt like he was fighting an uphill battle. He had worked so hard to get here and now he was about to lose it all. But Stahitmao had never been one to give up and he was never going to willingly. Besides this may be a literal matter of life and death. Ferwerter politics is a dangerous game and those who lose either end up executed if they are lucky or locked away forever in the depths of the Ameland Prison Complex never to feel the sun shine on their skin again.

As Stahitmao walked along the enormous halls with high ceilings for once he felt small. Of course that was exactly their purpose, but now that he had found himself in such a dire situation for the first time he truly felt its effects.

Although Stahitmao was on the losing side he still had an ace up his sleeve, but it was a dangerous card to play and would have far reaching consequences.

He arrives at the Supreme Chairman entrance of the Ferwerter People's Congress. He fastens his tie, adjusts his face to a smile and walks into the enormous chamber. From the large tribunes filled with a thousand Ferwerter politicians a lackluster applause arises. Not many decades ago the Supreme Chairman had always been met with infatuated enthusiasm within the FPC, but today was different. The country had started to become uncaring and apathetic simply going along to get rich or powerful. Stahitmao was disgusted by it and if he got the chance he would change it. But in his 18 years of power he had always been under the thumb of the old guard. They protected their corruption and their filthy associates. They had an odd nostalgia for old times, yet they were too busy getting rich and clawing their way to power to actually care for it. It was time for change.

Stahitmao stood in front of the rostrum and began to speak with his firm and clear voice. "Today I stand here before you to discuss an amendment to articles 66 and 79 of the constitution, which respectively lay out the term limits for the chairperson and vice chairpersons of the FPC Standing Committee and for the Supreme Chairman. Our nation, our Party, controlism, it is built upon principles of stability, unity and harmony. These three principles are all threatened by our current political climate. Because of term limits the focus has shifted from loyalty to the cause to factionalism and power struggles. This factionalism threatens the unity of our Party and the stability of our government. This is harmful to the nation and the Ferwerter people, for policy will not be based on its importance or effectiveness, but rather on gaining the upper hand as to replace the new leadership when there last term comes to an end.

This reflects a wider political culture of apathy and greed. All of us has promised to stay loyal to our original mission, but I am afraid that we are steering away from that. Many now only have loyalty towards themselves. The people have become unconcerned with politics as well and their only goal in life is to be rich and comfortable. They have lost purpose and they are desperate to fight for a cause. We need only give it to them and they will follow us into every struggle. We can complain about the lack of enthusiasm that some of the younger generation exhibit, but for the cause of that we can only look at ourselves, because we have not given them enough reason to be enthusiastic.

Our founders reunited our people, the reformers brought our people prosperity and now we need to gift them the joy of purpose. We need to make their lives meaningful. There can be no meaning without the Party. The people want to be part of something bigger than themselves, something that matters, something that contributes to the advancement of human civilization. We can give them that meaning and we should. Our goals should be their goals and their desires should be our desires for only then can we truly be a united nation, united by a common purpose and destiny. But to do so first we must maintain that unity within our own ranks. Factionalism must be halted. If we are not even united in our own goals how can our nation be?

This amendment to abolish the term limits will ensure that unity, that stability. In 18 years you can merely set new goals, but in a lifetime you can orchestrate the movement of mountains. The term limits were once installed to prevent the mismanagement of a brutal autocratic dictator. But times have changed. If a tyrant were to rise from our ranks they could simply be removed by elections. There is no need to put a limit to how many times one can be reelected. Only then will true long term strategic planning be possible. Then we will be able to move both mountains and the Ferwerter people. If I can not do it, than my successor must.

We must not return to our old ways, but enter a new era where patriotism and common prosperity flourish in a strong, stable and united Ferwert!"

This time the applause was a little louder. Now it was time for his next stop: the Central Committee. Stahitmao walks through the many winding halls and corridors of the Great Ferwerter People's Palace and eventually arrives at the Central Committee Chamber. There he is met by two of his best allies within the Party, Vice Chairman Anton Zee and Minister of Defense Jaap Huizing. "So, how are things looking."

Zee is the first to speak up. "Not very good I am afraid, quite hopeless to be honest. From what information I have been able to gather Tuyning has become quite popular within the Central Committee..."

Then Huizing launches his thunderous voice. "Unlike those rats at State Security the Ferwerter Controlist People's Liberation Army will always stand behind you, Mr. Supreme Chairman. You have their support and their loyalty and they far outnumber any force that Tuyning will be able to gather, perhaps..."

Stahitmao interrupts him. "I am glad to hear it and I appreciate your efforts in this regard, but they can stand down. We do not need any more turmoil."

Zee sighs. "So, it is over then?"

Stahitmao shakes his head.

"Jotsad..." Zee had never called him by his first name. "You and I both know that this is the end."

Stahitmao fastened his tie again. With a firm voice he spoke more determined than ever. "No, it is not over." After all he still had his ace. "How is our support within the Standing Committee of the FPC?"

"The FPC? Well, they will support you, but it is not their support you need."

"Not for the reelection, no."

"But for what then?"

Stahitmao puts a hand on his shoulder. "We will get through this, we just need a little more time and I know how to get it. It is time for a new era, will you two be part of that?"

Both men nodded.

"Good. Now if you will excuse me, I have to send a message to a friend far away." And it would be a very important message indeed. It will be his ace, his savior.

Despite the largely secular Zeron population, the government has made it a point to preserve religious freedom on the islands and gladly accepts the Church's endeavor to open new facilities and branches in Zero.

Considering the extreme environment of Island Zero, the teacher would not make plans to travel to The Furnace yet, but a delegation of fifty disciples would be sent to tell the good news and gather a new memberbase. Uniquely to Zero, the church would focus on a digital missionary campaign, creating targeted ads insinuating coolness and refreshment in the teachings of the master and rejecting of material life. The website the church ran, due to its members' Carytonic origin, was quite primitive but still shared a hopeful message nonetheless.

This creates an objective for the church while in Island Zero- secure modern technology and trained technicians. The intentions of this objective go beyond making a better-looking website.

The in-person missionaries post real-copies of similar posters, and offering people yoga, meditation, and life-help seminars which would be slow inductions into the group, complimented by more direct proselytizing. The entire delegation would stay in The Furnace due to the harshness of the outside world and anywhere without air conditioning.

They would quickly buy out a space for the first dojo, and would open for whatever number of people are interested.

Coalition Up in Arms

After the attack on an Arquitens light cruiser by a force described only as the Teronian Corporation, the Galactic Coalition, led by Lilie Korban, meets to discuss what must be done.

A hologram in a grand building showed the inside of the Arquitens that was attacked. There was a great deal of noise and not much could be heard until the doors to the bridge blew open and the droids that entered open-fired upon the Westbeechian crew members. The fighting was quick, as the droids overwhelmed the area. As they began filing into the bridge, one approached the source of the hologram and disabled it, causing the hologram to dissipate. The entire building was suddenly in complete chaos, representatives from different civilizations shouting about if it was real or what could be done about the issue. Lilie Korban, on a floating platform in the center of the building stood up from her chair. “Representatives, I ask you to calm down. There are much better ways to approach this than shouting over each other.”

As the crowd grew quiet, Lilie cleared her throat and began speaking again. “The attack upon our cruiser was done by a fleet under a group known as the Teronian Corporation. Westbeechian information specialists have confirmed that their organization is in control of several systems in the outer reaches of the galaxy. We have also confirmed the existence of a form of cooperation between civilizations out there, each using extremely similar, if not the same, technology. When contacted by our investigators, they called themselves the Corporate Alliance. They have a great deal of control and influence in the outer reaches of our galaxy and have been operating like this for many years. I motion we attempt to discuss the issue with the heads of this alliance at once, and should they refuse, I will move for the Coalition to make appropriate measures to prevent this Corporate Alliance from threatening the safety of our member states.”

There was cheering from the majority of the room, satisfied with the straightforward response Lilie had provided, but there were still some murmurs that were less audible. One thing was clear, though: the Coalition was behind Lilie and was going to support her no matter what she decided.

Afterwards, in the military headquarters on Koriban

“We shall offer these specific hyperspace routes to the Corporate Alliance, bypassing all Coalition security but our own, allowing them to reach multiple systems deep within Coalition territory. This way, their representatives will have greater reason to fear the galaxy and what it may offer. It will most certainly force them to put more money into protecting themselves against threats that we most certainly could already crush.” Tiprin had already prepared the specific routes that were to be sent through private channels. “Once they receive these, they will send fleets in a pre-emptive strike to weaken the Coalition, only to realize they struck the weakest of our member states. It will also offer an opportunity to show our troops on the battlefield and further reinforce the idea behind a reliance upon Westbeechian security.”

Lilie smiled. “Then you may go ahead with your plan, Tiprin. I want the fleet ready to respond as soon as the Corporate Alliance has occupied those planets. Only then should we respond to the issue.”

So behind the wheels of democracy are the means for authoritarianism to rise.

Sweeping Labor Rights Legislation Enacted

Today in an unexpected move, along with multiple other pieces of legislation, came the Conall Labor Act, which much like all other pieces of legislation drafted in the nation, took effect immediately. The Conall Labor Act is the first and only law in the nation regarding labor rights, and establishes a basis for future pieces of labor rights legislation.

Employers and employees alike both now have the officially inscribed right to file complaints against one another, and in addition to that, certain forms of paid and unpaid leave are legally mandated under the new law to be recognized and respected by employers. Multiple scholars with the University Of Opposh, Makko Oko U and Khonburgh College Of Business have chimed in regarding this new era of labor rights and respect, with one professor with the Khonburgh College Of Business going as far as to say that "Now we don't have to step on any toes, we know what we can and can't do, and while [CENSORED], we'll make do."

A law scholar with the University Of Opposh stated that this legislation has a direct correlation with another law that also passed today, known as the Defense Mobilization Act, which is the first military defense legislation enacted after the official discontinuation and end of, conscription in the nation. The DMA actively funds businesses during times of war should a general mobilization be declared. Furthermore, it also penalizes and punishes those who refuse a general mobilization.

She turned back to the statue of Celestia and Luna, clapping her hooves in prayer once more. “It is by Their Grace that we exist and we shall repay them with faithful service.” The Abbess bowed her head low as Skia knelt, quietly praying himself.

"I... see," Pearlescent said quietly.

She really truly hoped that the Abbess was right, but the young noblemare was still somewhat unnerved by the casual disregard for individual soldiers' lives the Novumequines occasionally showed. For them, death for a just cause was a perfectly acceptable outcome, and they were willing to spend soldiers like Equestrian soldiers spent ammunition to achieve even minor victories.

But at least they didn't consume the souls of others in unholy vampiric rituals and still claim to be the good guys, all the while hiding their shameful secrets behind false smiles and noble looking exteriors, so they would still be an improvement over the current rulers of Equestria...

"If we are now officially dead," Shield said, "should we assume new identities again, at least until Little Miss is ready to announce the crimes of her father and the other nobles to the public? Or will you simply keep us hidden aboard your ships? I don't think even Duke Silver can divine our location up here, and if he truly thinks we are dead, he probably won't even try."

Let no sin hide underneath.” She said as she waited for Rainbow.

With some hesitation, Rainbow removed her uniform and armored shoes. It felt strange being without clothes for once. Although most Equestrian Ponies didn't wear anything except during special occasions, and Rainbow herself had spent almost half of her life entirely naked, as Twilight's top military commander she had become used to wearing either a uniform or a ceremonial armor. Without her armor, she was somewhat leaner and more sinewy than during her carefree youth, and had also gained a number of scars. But she was still strong and healthy, and without the additional weight of her armor, she almost felt like she could take to the scies and do a sonic rainboom again... But of course, this was no time to show off. Those days were long behind her, buried under many years of death, worry and immense responsibility she had never quite felt ready for, yet it had come to her regardless...

Leaving her clothes in a not-so-neat pile on the ground, she followed Alula into the sanctum.

The sun rides the horizon for a few moments before rising towards the sky, signaling that the morning has arrived or an uncertainty of time to those not familiar with the arctic affect. The streets of the Capitol are completely empty of vehicles and what appears to be people as well. One can hear the birds and water flow below the sewer pipes. Propaganda plays loud enough to be heard without eclipsing the sounds of nature. It could be described as a glorious and beautiful ghost city. In some matter this description would be correct; however, this city is alive.

As life slowly begins to wake in the city, The Imperial Advisory and God-Emperor Jon have been discussing matters of the Empire in the Volkshalle; The centrepiece of Cheldian City. By design it is in such a matter to place almost a hypnotic trance on the population.

"Sir, we should quickly denounce the Church of Positivity. Their spread is a threat to Juche Hadianism and the prosperity of our Empire." Stated the Imperial Advisor of Internal Affairs. The Hadian Advisory looking among themselves waiting for the Emperor to speak before continuing.
"Do we agree to place this inferior organization as a terrorist threat?", breaking the silence in the room. The Imperial Advisor of War placing documents on the table.
"Our intelligence agency has discovered that this Church is working with a network of Nations. We would be foolish to act brutally. We must aim to expose the threat they pose on sovereignty. The question is, what is their goal by this rapid spread. I believe the answer is sabotage and subversion from within." The Imperial Advisor of war finished while passing the documents to the Emperor.

God-Emperor Jon looked over the documents while the advisory chatted amongst themselves. Tossing the documents to the table the Emperor spoke.
"They're nothing to us. Condemn them and place them on threat level. Monitor their spread of filth and keep them out of our sphere of influence. If any within our border is practicing this trash execute them. Nations seeking to establish ties to our Empire will have to denounce them." The advisory nodded in agreement before saluting the Emperor and Hadian flag.

The Provisional Government of Ferwerter Hegebeintum

The house of Party Secretary De Fries, New Ferwert

In quite a big house on the outskirts of New-Ferwert lived Party Secretary De Fries with his wife and his young daughter. But maybe it was more appropriate to call it a mansion. It was a very modern looking house, because unlike the Supreme Chairman, the Party Secretary did not have his own allocated living quarters. Instead De Fries had bought this house with his own money, although saying that it was his own was a far stretch. The power of his political positions had brought him quite the amount of wealth. He was paid for doing many things some more legitimate than others. De Fries had many connections with the rich and powerful and they were keen to keep him in his position. Although he would not go on holiday often he did have five other holiday homes as well and was also the proud owner of several large yachts, which he gladly used for 'business meetings' with his friends. Of course the state did provide him with plenty of security and any assassin that wanted to catch him in his home would be out of luck.

The sun has already set when his expensive looking car drives up the driveway. It had been a busy day at work and with the election of the new Supreme Chairman almost at hand the atmosphere was quite tense. But now it was time to wind down. De Fries enters his house and goes into the living room. At the end of it there was an enormous window looking out over New-Ferwert. New-Ferwert was by far the biggest city within Ferwerter Hegebeintum and to imagine that only a few decades ago it had all been farmland. In the distance there were cranes expanding the ever growing cityscape. De Fries was almost proud to say that the construction companies behind it had only been able to do so, because of their connections with him.

"So how was your day at work?" His wife Anna asks.

De Fries turns his eyes away from the spectacular view. "It was okay."

"Anything special coming up?"

De Fries thinks about it for a moment. "Well a few days ago I did get a call inviting me to some sort of event to commemorate the return of safety to Ferwerter Hegebeintum. It seemed all to be very hastily put together. Since the broadcasts from Caryton the Party has ramped up its propaganda efforts."

"Are you going?"

"Yes, yes I am going, it will be very good for my public image."

His wife sighs.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." She sighs again. "I just would like us three to spend some more time together... Your always doing something, going to some event to 'keep up connections'. It seems like you have forgotten that you have a family too."

"Look I want that too, but this is important."

"Important? Important for what? If you were to drop dead in a week, would you have liked to spent that week working or being with us?"

"Being with you of course, but..."

"Then why are you never home."

"Because it is my duty to the Party and the people..."

His wife angrily tilts her head. "You don't even believe that."

"Look if it wasn't for my work, we wouldn't be living here comfortable in a nice apartment, we would instead be working until we got lung cancer in some semiconductor plant. And this is important work, we need to keep Hegebeintum safe, for us, for our daughter."

"I know, but can't you just take a holiday?"

Now De Fries's voice angers. "No! I won't let that rat Harmen Friesia take over. Besides I have so much to still accomplish and I promise you that in six years it will be me who is elected Supreme Chairman. I have worked hard for that and I have deserved it. This is a longer game we need to play Anna. I have bigger ambitions than just being Party Secretary of a puppet state!" He immediately regrets saying the last part. He knew very well that State Security was listening in, even on him.

Anna sighs. "I get it, I do, but sometimes there are more important things in life and I am afraid for you, with your approach you haven't exactly made many friends."

"I appreciate your concern, but this is important to me. Look if you really want I can take a holiday after the dust of the elections has settled down, okay?"

A faint smile appears on his wife's face. "I would like that."

And with that they hug each other before De Fries goes to his office to write a speech for the commemoration. They had said it would be a celebration of his career and he would not want to miss such an easy opportunity. It was going to be a great day, he thought...

The Empire of Westbeech

The Expected Strikes

Mere days after receiving the hyperspace routes from the Westbeechian informants, the Corporate Alliance had dispatched fleets to four significant systems that had been avoiding support from Westbeechian PMC's and equipment. Westbeechian detection systems had noticed the fleets as soon as they left their points of origin, giving the high command targets of significance.

The Pacda System

The Pacda system had always been a peaceful system that had appreciated time in isolation. As it was brought out of isolation by Westbeechian diplomats in the forming of the Galactic Coalition, it continued to press for peace and always attempted to avoid military escalation. Even so, they were the second most technologically advanced behind the Westbeechians, having already had access to spacefaring technology before the Galactic Coalition's formation or Westbeech's arrival in the galaxy. Even so, they were completely unprepared for the Alliance's fleet arrival.

As the Corporate Alliance ships exited hyperspace, they immediately launched assault craft to strike orbital facilities. With the lack of preparation or security, the Pacdan people were surprised and unable to respond immediately. With the strike craft already hitting the facilities, much of the existing defense craft were destroyed or disabled before they could launch. They were able to dispatch three squadrons of interceptors, but with the lack of sufficient numbers, they were quickly overwhelmed by the sheer number of Alliance fighter craft.

Unopposed, the Corporate Alliance ships prepared a blockade of the two habited planets while a large number of transport craft emerged from hyperspace carrying the Alliance's droids and equipment. These transports split into two groups, some heading for the mostly-ocean world and the others going to Kipoe, the system's capital and home of the second largest number of representatives in the Coalition.

On Kipoe, the Alliance transports landed throughout the planet, each only kilometers from cities. Pacdan troops were hastily scrounged up and put into defensive positions just outside of the cities, many having very few numbers against what was an overwhelming horde of droids. At the capital of Kipoe, the President of the Pacda System stood at the front lines alongside the troops. As they were quickly setting up defensive equipment, the droids began to crest the hill. Behind the first few lines of droids were row upon row of vehicles, each very different looking and each having their own specific purpose. The droids continued their approach and the firefight began with many large explosions from another area of the capital. The Pacdan forces were quite capable and were swift in taking down the first few lines of droids, but before long a row of armored vehicles was in the front, which resisted any weapons the Pacdan forces were utilizing, forcing them to fall back into the city, drawing the droids into urban warfare.

The streets of the capital city were empty, but in the buildings all around were the Pacdan citizens and defenders awaiting the arrival of droid columns. Sure enough, they did arrive, lead by their armor with a seemingly endless number of droids behind them. Throughout the city, fighting could be heard as Pacdan militiamen and civilians attempted to strike at the droids, but they were still unable to do anything about the droid armor, which would quickly take up position to fire a bolt directly in the buildings where fire was coming from, easily destroying much of the buildings and killing or wounding the fighters. The droid offensive continued to push into the city.

On the nearby ocean planet, specialized droids were dropped into the ocean and quickly began approaches to the underwater cities of the people who lived in those waters. As they approached the cities, however, they were unprepared to be met with sufficient fire. Many droids were wiped out before ever getting close to the cities. Inside the cities, though, there were no soldiers other than the men manning the turrets. Very quickly, the people there were surrendering to the few droids that did arrive, but they knew they could be saved. A transmission from the world's representative was sent to the President before the droids could arrive at the transmission center. "The droids successfully overwhelmed our defenses. Our planet has fallen and will now be unable to provide any potential support."

The President received the transmission and immediately sent his own call to Lilie's office. "Madam Executive, I regret to inform you that the Pacda System will soon fall into the Corporation Alliance's hands. We are unable to hold out against their overwhelming numbers and swift assault. We beg of the Westbeechian government to send military support."

Almost as if on cue, droids entered the President's office, followed by a human. "Hello Mr. President. I am with the Corporation Alliance's military sector and I am here to inform you that your assets are now that of the Alliance's."

The swift collapse of the Pacda System was mirrored by the other three systems and as the transmissions arrived at Lilie's office, she smirked. "A simple matter of time. If they had fallen any later, I think I might have missed their calls. Not that it would have mattered much."

An emergency session of the Coalition was called and Lilie stood before the representatives. "Now is not the time for any slow-moving change in policy. We must act, and act swiftly to liberate our brothers in the Coalition. We must put more Coalition funding towards PMC involvement in planet security and powers to override blocking policy must be given to the Executive in order to ensure that something like this never happens again."

An almost unanimous vote, other than two representatives from the occupied planets that had been off-planet when the invasion occurred. "With the ability to act, Coalition forces shall be dispatched to these systems in order to once again ensure the security of our member states." Her actions, as blatantly dictatorial as they could be, affected none of the representatives, for the only thing on their minds was what could happen should the Corporate Alliance strike their homes. "Coalition" forces dispatched, the Westbeechian military growing. Lilie had set the precedence for ensuring that she should secure the galaxy.

Sadripoor

The church of positivity wrote:All-Knowing Teacher

Information had been communicated from both branches of the Church of Positivity in secret. The branch in Caryton knew about the IIS in Sadripoor beginning an investigation into their group with Santosh Mahanta. Likewise, the branch in Suraiya knew about Carytonic authorities looking into the same investigations due to plants in local authorities. With the hard material from covert dealings with the Ferwerter Union in their possession, any authorities needed to be thrown off the trail.

The only hard evidence that the Suraiyans had would be the deprived state of its members outside of the dojos. It was enough for probable cause, but not damnable. Therefore, all they needed to do was get rid of the offending materials inside the dojos, relocate them to the middle of nowhere, and claim the members had gone under monastic ascetic training- which they had. That's precisely what they did.

Ariano had enough foresight to plan two steps ahead.

THE CENTURY

General Estate Home Security Committee Subpoenas Hadrian Ariano

Princess Deedika Namaj Atilkumar of Annam and Saitara, chair of the General Estate Home Security Committee, told reporters she had instructed the government to deliver a subpoena to controversial spiritual leader Hadrian Ariano, head of the Church of Positivity.

“At this time we’re not saying anything for certain,” Atilkumar said. “This remains an open investigation.” In Suraiya, a country known for it’s religious freedom, it is rare for investigations into spiritual organizations to reach the General Estate. The decision to involve the Home Security Committee, a body of the General Estate which is tasked with investigating domestic terrorism and cooperating with the Interior Intelligence Agency, has been controversial, especially with members of the Charan party, which makes up half of Prime Minister Pramdishat Ananda’s liberal coalition.

Psom Nun, the ranking Charan representative on the Home Security Committee, said he was “willing to cooperate” with the Sinn Hind representatives, provided that they “respect our most sacred laws of religious toleration.”

Suraiya is perhaps the most ethnically diverse country in the world, with over 85 recognized ethnic groups and hundreds of spoken languages. For many, religious toleration has long been a source of national pride, especially as Suraiyans continue to witness the strict social controls which are present in neighboring states like Ferwert and Caryton. Attempts to clamp down on extreme religious sects have long been controversial, and it is precisely this issue that could divide the more secular Sinn Hind and ethnically diverse Charan, even though both parties share common opinions on other issues such as the economy and foreign affairs.

The Samnat Raj, which continue reel in the wake of former Prime Minister Ashurapal Chakrivati’s forced resignation, and the obliteration of their majority in the General Estate, have struggled to find a common position. For over a decade, the Samnat Raj—which has strong and controversial ties to the army—had focused more on foreign policy and defense spending than domestic affairs.

Khutind Pritipongchaiyaporn, a professor of Suraiyan religious movements at Vajasthan University, says the Samnat Raj’s tendency to neglect domestic issues that may have contributed to the taboo around investigating religious extremism. “The Samnat Raj was, under Chakrivati, in power for thirteen years. Their policies formed an entire generation,” she explained. Pritipongchaiyaporn says that, under the Samnat Raj government, ethnic tensions and religious disputes were left to “simmer” while the government pursued a nuclear weapons program and broad military restructuring campaign. “While they were redesigning the military, you had disputes between the tribes in Kalang Chaiya and Suraiyan mining corporations get worse. You had clashes between Vong spiritualists and Suraiyan Tennists. That would have been unheard of even as recent as the 1990s.” The only time the government would involve itself, she said, was when it initiated a heavy-handed crackdown. “So the problems didn’t get solved, they just got swept under the rug. Everyone stayed angry, only suddenly they didn’t even have an outlet to resolve their problems peacefully. The result is that now, no one wants to talk. They just want religion to be left alone, even though something so important in our society should have a place in democratic government.”

Under the Due Process Act, refusing to comply with a subpoena is a criminal offense. It is unclear how Mr. Ariano, who is out of the country, will respond.

The Greater People's Empire of The Controlist Ferwerter Union

The Supreme Office of Supreme Chairman Stahitmao

Stahitmao looked at his computer screen with the cursor flickering ready to send the message. It was a short and simple message, but it entailed dire consequences. It had to be done however, the Tuyning clique had to be shown that none of them were invulnerable or untouchable. It was the only way to give him more time to consolidate his power and after that it would finally be time for true change. It was time to cut out the reactionary elements within the Party and the nation. It was time for a new era of national rejuvenation, strength and glory. With the Old Guard finally out of the way, he could truly create a new Controlist Ferwerter Union. Even Stahitmaos thoughts sometimes devolved into speeches nowadays.

He clicked on a button and an encrypted message was securely transmitted to Conall Solis in Makko Oko. It read one simple sentence, but Stahitmao knew that Solis would know what to do: "The sun rises above Hegebeintum".

Stahitmao stood up from his desk and looked out over Vrijhof Square with a tragic smile. "I am sorry Henry..." He whispered to himself. "It was nothing personal."

The Empire of Makko Oko

The Makko Oko Office Of The Emperor

May 29th, 2022

The Emperor was in the middle of a meeting with the Minister Of Finance over mid-year budget allocation when the call was received by Ferwerter Supreme Chairman Stahitmao to begin the operation. The Emperor immediately cut the meeting short and sent the Minister out and called the Minister Of Internal Security in to confirm and vet the message and after 30 minutes, it was confirmed that it was in fact the case.

The Emperor then made a direct call to CIB Director Lance Pitre to immediately come to his office and bring the agents assigned to the operation. After much waiting, everybody was at his office and he started out by saying "Agents, Director Pitre, I've gotten the call that the operation is a go. With the greenlight of the Head Of State, I assure you that you will have protection, but only they know of this, and I'd like to keep it that way. Let's discuss the plan shall we?" and the Emperor walks over to their computer and pulls up files and documents on their TV screen in the office, walks over to it and motions towards it, saying "This operation is highly important to both our nation and theirs. We've planned the whole operation out. I've personally seen to it that you all get aliases and passports, and the Conservation Pact will be directed by Stahitmao to 'let down their guard' so to speak. When you have a clear shot of them, the military squad will assist you and handle it. You kill whoever you need to, to get the job done, within reason. I see no reason to upset our good friends."

"So, any questions before you leave, you leave at the earliest" the Emperor asks, handing all of the agents their identities and passports. They all say "No sir!" in unison. They all then leave his office and fly out via a civilian aircraft to Ferwerter to then go by road to Ferwerter Hegebeintum.

7 Hours Later

Location: Lits, Marrum, Ferwerter

The team got through the Ferwerter border successfully and have started on their travel to the Hegebeintum border. They've rented their own cars and are driving themselves and they get to talking, "Marianna," Christy starts, "Aren't you afraid that we could've been setup?". Marianna responds "I don't think so Christy, the Emperor and them are really close, maybe a bit too much so, but regardless, the plan is in place, we have support, and we're getting paid much extra for participating." and the rest of the trip is mostly silent, besides for final planning and review with the Director and the Emperor.
