Looks like the resolution is just barely going to pass. Surely this is because of my expert insight and in depth analysis posted less than 10 hours before voting closes

(Now actually arriving on time)
Providing Paid Leave, Simplified-

Paid leave is important for the health and wellbeing of workers.

1. Defines the following:

a. a "worker" as an individual bound by contract of employment
b. a "worker-in-waiting" as an individual who is looking for a job
c. "paid leave" as a period of time where a worker is not at work but still receives pay and benefits
d. "unemployment benefits" as a period of time that a worker-in-waiting receives payment from the government

2. Member states must provide the paid leave upon worker request if they meet the following:

a. the workers recovery or care is less then 26 weeks if the illness or injury directly effects their ability to work and there is no one to care for them during that time
b. 52 weeks maternal leave if there is 2 parents raising the child, 72 weeks if they are a single parent
c. 4 weeks for general use

3. Forbids employer from discriminating against a worker or worker in waiting for the following:

a. because they filed for unemployment benefits or paid leave
b. because they notified their employer of circumstances that may qualify them for paid leave
c. because they are currently on paid leave or receiving unemployment benefits

4. Workers must give sufficient notice if they know they will need paid leave

5. Requires member state's governments to provide their non-incarcerated workers-in-waiting at least 26 weeks of unemployment, though:

a. the payment is at least half of the workers usual wages
b. the benefits end when the worker-in-waiting finds a job

6. Compels member states introduce social security programs.

Ari's 2 cents-

Arident is AGAINST passing this resolution. Paid leave is important to protect workers from needing to work through injury or spending time away from their newborn child in order to avoid financial collapse. Someone shouldn't be left financially destitute because of factors out of their control. However there are some issues. I think
the maternity leave time given is slightly excessive. 72 weeks is around a year and a half. Maternity leave in the United States, for example, is 12 weeks. The longest time given by any country is Bulgaria with 52 weeks of maternity leave. 72 weeks creates an unnecessary burden on the employers. Another problem is with prisoners. Periods of paid leave, including maternity leave, are denied to people coming out of prison (see point 5). What's the point of this? There is no discernable reason for this addition. Denying financial help makes re-offense directly after release far more likely. If I'm reading this wrong please correct me. For these reasons Arident is AGAINST this resolution.

Sorry. Had some serious mental health issues going on.

Still do, actually. Expect a break in my polls for a bit.

Why don't you do the poll for this week actually. Give me a break.

I don't believe in Portugal. South Africa made it up in the 60s to feel like they had friends.

Repeal "LEO Force Restirctions", Simplified-

While police all over the world have a history of excessive violence, the rules put in place by this resolution prevents police from being able to effectively arrest people.

1. The resolution criminalizes use of force based on information the officers don't have immediatley and may not have for months following an incident.

2. The resolution makes several extreme assumptions that make enforcement too difficult

a. It assumes the wide availability of high quality body cameras.
b. It assumes ubiquitous wireless technology that can be attatched to officers and can communicate with vehicles.
c. It assumes that a police vehicle's emergency sirens indicate potential use of excessive force, and that all excessive force happens after the sirens activate.
d. It assumes that every officer has a designated vehicle
e. It assumes that every police vehicle uses lights or sirens and does not accomodate for other signal methods

3. The resolution criminalizes all homicides commited by officers reguardless of the danger an officer is in.

4. The resolution requires officers to give on site first aid to injured suspects even when doing so can put the officer in immediate danger from other still active suspects.

Ari's 2 Cents-

Arident is FOR repealing this resolution. Police frequently abuse their power alongside using excessive force. This obviously needs to be regulated. However this issue has several flaws that put the lives of police officers in unnecessary danger. It's requirements also can easily be too much of a financial burden to developing nations, which seem to be so easily forgotten when coming up with resolutions.
