Are there any rules?
Absolutely, NationStates has plenty of rules and they must be followed. For regional guidelines please review the Nordic Lands Etiquette.

How do I get on the map?
To be on our map you must be a resident for a minimum of 30 consecutive days. Joining the World Assembly will reduce this waiting period by 10 days, and joining our discord will reduce this waiting period by 5 days. The preferred method of submitting a claim is on the Map Claim channel on Discord. If you can not join the discord for reasons, then claims can be sent via Telegram to Nordic Lands AND Vaesland. Claims made via NLN RP, Factbook RP, on the RMB, or in the improper discord channel will not be added on the map.. *priority will be given to active nations, over nations that only show up to ask about the map*

How do I make my population grow?
The Population growth rate is determined by the game. At first it may seem slow, but the growth rate is about 1 billion in population every 6 months. That equates to about 5.4 million a day. It may not seem like it's growing fast at first, but it will reach these numbers.

Where can I find the offsite forum?
Our offsite forum has fallen out of use with the popularity of our Discord and the advancements made in game.

I'm stuck in the lobby of the discord, what do I do?
The Lobby is where new discord members are sent until they verify their nation. When you join our server the AugustinAndroid bot will send you a private message(DM or PM) with steps on how to verify your nation. You must follow those instructions. If you need assistance in getting verified please telegram Askerike.

How do I become a regional Officer/Minister?
Ministers are considered high ranking officials and are elected positions. We use an off site poll system that blocks multiple votes and detects VPN's so no cheating. The lower tier of regional offices such as Directors and Deputy Directors are appointed based on merit. What you do in the region is seen by everyone, active nations that are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful are often approached for these positions. Being nominated by your peers for one of these lower offices is the best place to start.

Nordic Lands Map Rules

Part 1: Claiming Territory

1. Nations must reside in Nordic Lands for 30 consecutive days before a land claim will be accepted.
a) Joining the World Assembly will reduce this waiting period by 10 days
b) Joining our discord will reduce this waiting period by 5 days.
c) Claim sizes are limited to 120,000km^2 or 46,000 square miles.

2.The preferred method of submitting a claim is on the Map Claim channel on Discord. If you can not join the discord for reasons, then claims can be sent via Telegram to Nordic Lands AND Vaesland. Claims made via NLN RP, Factbook RP, on the RMB, or in the improper discord channel will not be added on the map.

3. Claims cannot encroach an active nation's territory without agreement between all nations involved, done by:
a) Nordic Lands News Roleplay (e.g. one nation RPs invading and the second nation RPs losing their territory rather than defending the border.) [PREFERRED BUT NOT ALWAYS REQUIRED]*
b) Direct confirmation via TG or Discord from ALL nations involved (even if the agreement is done in a public forum such as the RMB, I require private confirmation as well). [REQUIRED]

4. Claims cannot be unreasonably large.

5. Should be a continuous landmass, unless any of the following apply:
a) You are claiming an island chain.
b) You are claiming a coastal area with nearby islands.
c) You can explain (either RP in the NLN or through Factbooks) an in-character reason for being scattered.

Part 2: Expanding Territory
Note: Rules 1 & 2 for Part 2 are the same as Rules 3 & 4 for Part 1

1. Claims cannot encroach an active nation's territory without agreement between all nations involved, done by:
a) Nordic Lands News Roleplay (e.g. one nation RPs invading and the second nation RPs losing their territory rather than defending the border.) [PREFERRED BUT NOT ALWAYS REQUIRED]*
b) Direct confirmation via TG from all nations involved (even if the agreement is done in a public forum such as the RMB, I require private confirmation as well). [REQUIRED]

2. Claims cannot be unreasonably large.

Part 3: Losing Your Claimed Territory
(Or, “I was only gone for three months, where's my land?”)

1. Crashed nations will have a period of up to 7 days to restore their nation before being removed from the Nordic Lands Map. After this time, their land will become available for others to claim, unless any of the following apply:
a) A nation claims the crashed nation’s land, either by creating a protectorate, invading, or through other means, via the NLN. If the nation has been gone for 7 days (or 30, if a significant contributor to the region), a nation wishing to create a protectorate may TG me, and I will edit the map accordingly. Again, this is a situation where I will be much happier to grant your request if it is RP’d.
b) The nation has been banned by a moderator but still retains a puppet within the region through which the nation wishes to remain active.

2. Active nations that leave NL for another region will be removed from the map within a week.

(Note: This is a notification, not a warning. I will TG you to let you know that your claim is being removed, but I will not give you advance notice.)

3. Nations wishing to have their land claim removed may TG me and I will remove them from the map. This does not require an in-character explanation or NLN RP, but I will always encourage it.

*If all nations send me a confirming TG, I don't need the RP, but if the RP happens first, I'll still require confirmation via TG.

TL;DR: Basically, if you’re making a simple request such as adding another 50km to the north in unclaimed land or adding an island near the coast I'm probably gonna say yes. If it's something more significant, I like to see decent RP regarding the changes in territory. As long as it’s relatively plausible, and does not affect other established nations without their permission, I’m probably not going to refuse your request.
