Inauguration of President Antov Mercer It was a month since the civil war ended, a month filled with strife as the nation reels from hunger and political violence, but one of hope as the countries of the world heard its plight and gave aid. The counting of the votes finished and the results were that the All-Left Socialist Party won in landslide victory, coming ahead at 67%, giving them a 2/3rds majority over their liberal rivals. General Mercer, the leader of the Red Fox Army and hero of Benghazi, was inaugurated at Victory Plaza in Tripoli. The sun was high and shining over a sea of cheering people, the new President and his cabinet stood on the steps of the Palace overlooking their citizens. They called out his name as they waited for his speech, “Comrades!” His booming voice excited the crowd. “My Fellow countrymen, it has been four long years since I faced my country face to face once again. I stand before you not as a victorious commander of an army, but as a voice to serve the proletariat.” He waited until the cheers died down. After a few minutes, Chief Justice Salim Yaaran (appointed by Mercer himself) walked up to the new president with a copy of the Constitution to swear him into office. After saying his oath to the nation and its constitution, the military band began playing ‘Ode to Anercia’ as his cabinet took their turns to speak. President Mercer left the inauguration soon after and made a small tour of the city. The newly inaugurated president waved the crowd goodbye and got in his black towncar, heading for the most war torn districts. His driver introduced himself, "Mr president, I am Watson Volker, your new driver."- "I welcome you Watson, get me home safe will ya?" Watson chuckled. "Will do Mr President." They drove past a street lined with his supporters behind barricades and guards, he waved to them. The crowds soon were dispersed as the streets are cleared and cleaned. Outside his tinted window Antov saw the capital as it was, ruined, it was his orders that cost the oldest city in the nation its beauty. Lost to the fire and bombs of his Republican Army, now it was his. Sometimes they passed by defaced statues of the old order covered in graffiti, some only with their stone bases still standing. Stores and apartments were riddled with bullet holes or caved in roofs. The people in this city still lined up in long queues for bread and soup even after food production started again. The fate of this nation was in his hands, and he questions himself about his ability to repair from the wounds of the civil war. But he had work to do and saying goodbye to his new driver he stepped in front of the Presidential Palace, the former home of the Tyrant, now he sits on the throne. |
Foundation of Economy Act The Planners of the Anercian National Bank put forward a scheme to create state-run industries and invite foreign investments at the same time. It would first create, Constrom Construction Inc, which has an exclusive monopoly on all new construction within Anercia, donated equipment from recent foreign aid were all transferred to CCI. With the funding and machinery, as well as endless manual laborers, the CCI began hiring thousands of employees to start on repairs on roadways, electrical wiring, railways, communication infrastructure, and demolishing of hundreds of ruined homes to build even more high-density residential zones across the nation. With the CCI alone, unemployment is expected to drop 18% in one month. Foremen from Europe were brought in to help supervise construction, having them teach a new generation of Anercian foremen through experience. Argon National Oil and Gas will be responsible for all natural gas and oil deposits, most of the program will be focused on restarting oil exports to help with government revenue. As the actual extraction, refining, and even fleet of oil tankers were spared from the horrors of the fighting. Making ANOG the biggest revenue stream accounts for nearly 40% of the nation's GDP. A foreign work program was created to attract oil technicians and engineers due to the brain drain caused by the war. A special deal for former Anercian oil workers was made, giving them tax exempt statuses and even approved for very discounted loans, to bring back talented refugees. A fund was set aside to work with NGO's to locate fleeing Anercian refugees and entice them to come back home with the promise of stability and security. With the few domestic weapons factories left in Anercia, all of them were consolidated under the Wazari Arms Group, focusing on supplying the new army. The WAG has been approved to construct three new vehicle factories in Algerian Anercia, to help with the transition from a mixed fighting force to an armored professional military. Having reached an agreement from the German government, the Anercon-Deutsch Lithium Conglomerate will split 50% stake with the German empire in exchange for the upfront cost of starting the company. They were able to negotiate investment in several road reconstruction projects and the restoration of the Tripoli Port, to help facilitate the flow of lithium exports. German engineers were brought in as temporary workers, doubling as instructors and foremen. A 20 Kilometer zone in the Sahara was chosen for the first set of extraction sites and estimated to contain $35,000,000,000 Billion NCY of lithium rich salt brines. Anercian planners also point to the solar energy potential of the region as another source of revenue to supplement ADLC initial budget, which is set to be by the Empire. The rest of the economy being mainly light industry and Mediterranean Agriculture, they have been hit the hardest as groups from all sides sought to extort or exploit the land to fund their war. Now that the farmers return to their homes and their fields patrolled by army units, the first rounds of dates, plums, wheat, and grains were finally planted. A photo of President Mercer being present at a wheat planting event surfaced, with him and some soldiers helping an aging farmer with fieldwork. For actual tangible benefits, a tax freeze was implemented for a period of five years for farmers and agricultural co-operatives, and a total of five billion Anercian Yuan worth of subsidies in the form of no-interest loans was given for existing and prospective farmers. The Agrisoc Council, a constitutionally guaranteed agricultural union with powers to directly affect agricultural policies and legal entity responsible for all arable land, has finally made available the 35% of arable land still undeveloped for sale. For light manufacturing, Algerian Anercia had previous fertilizer chemical plants that were deactivated due to concerns of explosions, and its inventory stripped and sold. However they are still operational due to its machinery being too large to be stolen, and were under constant guard from ULF democratic militias. Ambrosia Chemicals was created as a state-sponsored co-operative, with 35% stake of the company, and given a venture capital loan to re-attract their engineers who fled and produce again. In the future, further state-sponsored co-ops will become the new normal as the government manually revive its manufacturing, though a disparity was made as most of the industrial investments go to Algerian Anercia. The United Armed Forces of Anercia President Mercer along with the Minister of Defense, a German expat turned Chief Engineer of the RFA named Albert Speer, traveled to Camp Strong, a 100 Square mile base built by President Aladeen but taken without bloodshed during the initial coup. The RFA made great use of its air defense systems and fortifications to help split the Executive army in half. It was more like a fortified town than a military base, with a civilian trade airport and multiple residential zones in the center, but still formidable with: outer lines of trenches and bunkers, hidden machine-gun killzones, miles of barbed wire, underground SAM systems, concrete tunnel systems with armories and hospitals, and reinforced hangers that hold their fleet of helicopters and jets. They arrived at the front perimeter, the President’s General Staff met him there personally to look at their new commander in chief, all four chiefs, old war buddies or commanders from during the war. Instead of wearing ragged surplus uniforms, it was replaced by clean desert camo fatigues made from kevlar, their new stars shining as they shook hands. “Boys, it's good to see you all again and not inside a bunker this time.” Mercer greeted them. “It's good to see you again Antov, but this was quite sudden being pulled here from our post a week after being assigned. What's the matter?” General Yarnem, Chief of the Army, asked somewhat impatiently. “Something serious, but in due time, we need to go inside away from prying ears.” Albert chimed in, Mercer agreed and they went further inside the base to the central HQ. Inside they enter a meeting room with a large oak round table in the middle, flanked on all sides with charts and graphs. On the table itself was a small scale reconstruction of the entire map of the country, with little figures representing divisions and armies. All the aides and soldiers not relevant were dismissed and told to leave. The Minister of Defense cleared his throat and spoke, “Comrade President on today’s agenda is the topic of the military’s budget and restructuring.” Albert explained. Albert was a man at 5’11 and blonde hair, he was only in his late 30’s, much younger than the president or the generals at the table. But he made up for it in his aptitude, an expert in the field of logistics, he was responsible for the Republican Militias being mobilized and armed during the entirety of the civil war. “The state of our armies is well, in dire disrepair,” He was interrupted. “Disrepair is an understatement! Our camps are underfunded and under maintained, there are barely any officers to lead our men, and our chain of command is nearly broken!” General Samdar Alhaleeth, a 60-year old former RFA officer with a scarred eye spoke out loudly. “I hear you Samdar but please let Alber explain.” Ashton assured him. “As i said our military is in no condition to actually fight a real war. The General Staff and I have drafted a new bill that would introduce billions of Yuan into the military to bring it up to snuff.” He handed the President a piece of paper. Reading it, he spotted a few highlighted points: -A 80 Billion Yuan Military budget A total of four hundred thousand soldiers were enlisted to the new army divisions training in the four military bases in the country, most of them are re-enlisted members of the old military, the Red Fox Army. A socialist-led rebellion of the Executive army led by General Mercer during a coup in Benghazi, where Mercer broke orders and commanded the garrison to protect civilians from foreign mercenaries, capturing his former superior officer and proclaimed a leftist uprising after executing him publicly. They will be trained in rounds, for three months 50,000 soldiers will live in the bases for their basic training, and then immediate deployment. In the Interim, President Mercer authorized the mobilization of special cadres, veteran professional soldiers from the RFA will be transferred into temporary divisions to supplement the armed forces until the first army divisions are trained. The proposed budget of 80 Billion Yuan military budget was sent to the General Congress, in which it won in a landslide, allowing for the purchasing of foreign military equipment and ordering domestic rifles. The transition to a non-political all professional fighting force has been a welcomed move by the President's ULF constituents, and praised it for being a right step to moving past the dictatorship in the past that used the military to terrorize the population. However, armed groups across Anercia express concerns as the President also is railing against paramilitary groups as, "A common danger to the nation and any country who is infested by them." Black market activity has spiked as weapons are being rapidly sold domestically and then being bought domestically as well, as if one group is proactively disarming while others are arming themselves to the teeth. The situation in the coming months as the new Army replaces the need for paramilitaries, the German Government was asked to intervene and deploy soldiers to help stabilize the country as it heads for another one of its growing pains. |
International Arms Purchase The People's Ambassadors Corps, a political diplomatic service founded by the ALSP, was sent to The eastern radiance on behalf of President Mercer to negotiate the purchase of military vehicles. The new army divisions needed a wide variety of vehicles to address their logistical concerns, and to help support their counter-terrorist campaign with the German Empire. Their current stockpile consisted mostly of heavily armored technicals, commandeered Executive Army tanks from the Cold War, and a handful of still-working BTR-4s. Abdul Maudib, El Capo of the Revolution, was sent to the negotiations in secret, taking a smugglers route through his triad connections in Beijing. There he met with a Chinese arms representative, they ordered: 3,000 UAZ-469 Light Military Utility Vehicles, 1,500 Shaanxi SX2190 General Utility Trucks, 1,000 Type-92 APC's, 200 Type-99 Main Battle Tanks, and 100,000 Thousand Type 191 Automatic Rifles. For a grand total of 5.02 Billion Anercian Yuan, these will be shipped through the RFA's former smuggling fleet, now a legitimate shipping union with captured tankers and cargo vessels. New Modernization of the Military An ALSP Representative has announced the purchase of a large quantity of military vehicles from the New Chinese Republic. The purchase, which is worth 5.02 billion Anercian Yuan, is a major modernization effort for the ALSP's military. "We Believe now that we are well-equipped enough to arm our men that are still training, however we still have an active manpower shortage, it will limit our security operations temporarily but our cadres will control the situation." said from General Yarnem of the 1st Army of Anercia in Camp Strong. The purchase of these vehicles has been met with mixed reactions from the ULF, as they oppose rapid spending on military modernization, but some welcome the increased defensive capabilities. |
Financial and Medical Aid Act "It is, within the great interest of the state whom the people entrust their faith and welfare to, that it must provide for nearly every facility of daily use. The hazard of life and labor threaten our citizenry but it is our commitment to support them in their times of need where the balance of life or death is based on. In turn we of the Republic, created by the people for the people, must empower ourselves to wholeheartedly uphold our duties. To pay for the hospital beds, the soup kitchens, and work houses. In this act where that empowerment lie, protect the security of wellbeing, lest you lose sight of our goals." To uphold his promise to create welfare programs, he created the National Review of Welfare Committee, to draft a new piece of legislation. Their job is to explore the current state of the ad-hoc system of providing for the people. Firstly, they found that though the Medical System has been nationalized, medical services and hospitals are disconnected and unorganized. Meaning people couldn’t get access to doctors when they’re too full or busy, especially in rural areas. And the quality of rural hospitals and clinics are woefully unprepared and underfunded. Second, Unemployment benefits are virtually non-existent and pensions for the elderly don’t exist either, causing elderly poverty to spike even though general unemployment is going down. Third, there are no benefits or aid given to the disabled and veterans. Fourth, child care for poorer families is not supported by any system or state, increasing child mortality rate and parental abandonment. Lastly, to even get the rudimentary aid provided locally, one must venture through a labyrinth of red tape and bureaucracy, something devised by earlier conservative statesmen. Having compiled all the problems into one committee to be tackled into one bill. To combat these deficiencies a new system was devised by the NRWC. Called the Financial and Medical Aid Act, or FMAA, it stipulates 6 articles that will go into effect. With a Total government spending increase of 80 Billion Anercian Yuan. Article I: Healthcare A new agency responsible for the medical welfare of citizens will be created. This agency called the Federal Health Service, will regulate healthcare services and work to coordinate and maintain medical facilities. They will have the power to bargain with pharmaceutical companies, paying for the cost of drugs, and even control the price of drugs when necessary. Under this article, the current coverage of insurance will expand into a comprehensive package to cover nearly everything. Anything not provided, or if extra coverage is needed, private insurance can still be bought. To pay for the construction of new facilities, doctors salaries, and treatment costs, a new levy and tax on the employee and employer will be placed. For the salary of the employee, 15% will be taxed, and the employer an excise tax every year proportional to the total wages of their employees. Article II: Unemployment The National Unemployment Service, under the Ministry of Labor, will oversee the distribution of funds to those deemed approved for unemployment benefits. Employers will, after firing an employee, pay them their salary for a month. Article III: Pensions For the purpose of enabling each State, as far as practicable under the conditions in such State, to furnish financial assistance to aged needy individuals, there is hereby authorized to be appropriated for each fiscal year a sum sufficient to carry out the purposes of this article. For Veterans and Current members of the Armed forces a comprehensive benefit package that will be eligible after service or 15 years of service will be available to them. Benefits include disability compensation, pension, education and training, health care, home loans, insurance, vocational rehabilitation and employment, and burial. Article IV: Disability Funded by the National Treasury and under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health, the Disability Security Income Program will provide cash payments to disabled children, disabled adults, and individuals aged 65 or older who are citizens or nationals of the Anercian Republic. Article V: Childcare For needy parents/guardians of dependent claimants, a stipend will be provided to take care of educational costs and supplies. Employers will have to provide paid leave of 13 weeks to parents of newly born children. Article VI: Fraud Whoever, with the intent to defraud the system of welfare, and make any false representation concerning the requirements of this Act. Shall receive a penalty of imprisonment for up to 2 years. |

EDWARD SNOWDEN RETURNS HOME After a long time of spending exile in Russia, Edward Snowden has finally stepped foot back in the (former) United States. With a direct Aeroflot flight from Moscow to Charlotte, Edward Snowden has eerily stepped back into a land where he was once forbidden from entering. Due to his birth in Raleigh, North Carolina, Edward Snowden was able to quickly receive citizenship - becoming a dual Russo-Carolinian National. He has chosen to live in Raleigh, North Carolina for the time being. The event has drawn all sorts of conversations and media attention, both from the Carolinian and Russian end. Snowden has been known to make some political statements, but has often refrained from sensitive and heated cultural or social issues. The following are excerpts from Edward Snowden in an interview: George Robertson: "And what is your opinion on Russia seemingly becoming an authoritarian regime once again?" Snowden: "A lot of my critics have criticized me for being a 'Russian plant.' I stand by my belief that Russia is a beautiful country and the Russian people are quite warm and friendly and am grateful for being granted asylum by Russia, but I cannot agree with its government style. There's been dishonest propaganda towards each other both from Russia and the west. I have always voiced my criticism to the Russian government, today and previously in the Russian Federation. I do not condone their authoritarianism, lack of transparency, or human rights abuses." Edward Snowden further commented on life in Raleigh, North Carolina vs his time spent in Moscow. He appreciates the greater political freedoms of the Carolinas, citing a bit of a cautious and paranoid culture behind political expression in Russia despite the Supreme Leader himself guaranteeing he is safe in the Russia and free to express his politics and opinions. He is also happy to finally be back in his former home and seeing his old friends and family members once again. Overall, he feels as if he was granted a semi-warm welcome home. One thing Snowden was particularly uneased about was the Carolinas' complete rejection of the United States and its heritage. To a fair bit of controversy, Edward Snowden expresses that he will forever consider himself to be an American and continues to admire the United States' legacy. He takes a positive view of its heritage and appraised its historical commitment to democratic values. While Snowden condemned the American Junta's dreams of reunification and states that he does not wish to force the USA to come back, he remains quite upset at the Carolinas' "complete rejection and nullification of its American heritage and acknowledging its ideals of liberty that stem from the United States." With regards to ways Moscow felt better than Raleigh, Snowden noted its excellent public transportation system and its feeling of being quite modern, technologically-advanced, cleanliness, and safety, with the exception of its disruption in the 2020s and early 2030s amidst political and social chaos. Additionally, he does miss the much richer cultural heritage behind Moscow. Public transportation was definitely something the United States was known to have been lacking in, especially in the southern states. Though according to Snowden, the gap has certainly been a bit less stark in recent times with increasing changes to urban planning policy in Raleigh and the Carolinas in general (regardless of old aspects of their car-centric sprawl and de-facto economic or racial segregation and poverty lingering around), undergoing many mass construction projects. Snowden also appreciates the better feeling of political stability at home. Despite all political intrigues of the Carolinas, the constant wars and violent suppression of dissidents in the Russian State has made it feel as if Moscow's current prosperity is standing on egg shells. Meanwhile outside of Russia's main cities, Snowden noted that many of the oblasts lagged behind, feeling quite undeveloped and corrupt. |

RETCON: Marcus’ presidency and all events that proceeded it have now been pushed forward by two years. Meaning that instead of Marcus’ Presidency starting in 2040, it starts in 2042. Edward Snowden returns in 2043 instead of 2041. He was personally not super interested in the case of Snowden, but was curious as to see how the man in question felt about his return. It must’ve been a hell of a shock, coming back to his old home after the balkanization of the United States. Raleigh, North Carolina no longer existed, and in its place sat Raleigh, capital of the Piedmont Province. Marcus read through the article. Interestingly, Snowden was more forgiving towards the United States than Marcus would’ve assumed based on the man’s actions. Still, he found that bravery admirable despite the fact it cost him years of his life. Marcus continued reading. He was somewhat surprised that Snowden believed the Carolinas had rejected all aspects of American culture and pride. That couldn’t be further from the truth, he thought. The more conservative members of congress had long accused the Osborne administration of completely abandoning the Carolina’s American heritage, when in reality Marcus simply wished to move on from the more toxic aspects that led to the collapse of the United States to begin with. Still, it was understandable where those talking points come from. Speaking of conservatives, the bloc was in complete disarray concerning his return. The more authoritative members called for the withdrawal of Snowden’s presidential pardon and have him arrested as a national security concern. Meanwhile the libertarians harpooned their cohorts, saying that it would be a violation of free speech. Regardless, Marcus had no plans on throwing Snowden in jail. His leaks affected a nation that no longer exists, and in Marcus’ eyes, whistleblowers were a crucial part of political discourse, especially in a country as corrupted as Carolina. Simply put: it was a waste of time and a poor look to throw the man in prison. |

CHURCH OF MOSCOW RESTORES RELATIONS WITH CONSTANTINOPLE For many years since 2014, the Orthodox Church in Russia and Greece/Constantinople have remained in conflict and isolation from one other after Constantinople's recognition of Ukraine's autocephaly. Amidst the meeting of Patriarch Bartholomew II of Constantinople and Patriarch Vasiliy of Moscow, Constantinople agreed to rescind their recognition of Ukraine's uncanonical autocephaly. As a result, Moscow lifted their excommunication against Moscow, finally ending a generation of isolation. Subsequently, the meeting between the two Patriarchs assisted solving the jurisdictional conflict in North America. Orthodox Christian Herald Today, standing infront of the Hagia Sophia in the shadow of the dozen cranes surrounding the reconstruction site like spires to the Heavens, Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople Bartholomew II made a speech to a waiting crowd. "My brothers and sisters in the faith, today marks a historic occasion. We met with our counterpart the Patriarch of Moscow and resolved our long standing disagreement on the Orthodox Church in America. We agree to grant our congregations to the jurisdiction of the OCA. We hope this is the first step towards longterm reconciliation and cooperation. We will commemorate this occasian in a statue here in the square." He unveils a bronze plaque embossed on a heavy stone in the square center. Surrounding the stone is a square of sand surrounded by three rows of trees that rustle in the sea wind. Atop the stone stands a 15m tall statue of two angels, one in Byzantine dress, the other in Muscovite dress. Constantinople Gazette Emperor Alexios Issues Decree Today, Emperor Alexios has issued a decree aimed at Turkey. He declares the right of ownership of all Greek homelands, including those in Pontus, located within Turkey, and Thrace, located within Bulgaria. This has caused a stir in Byzantium, with nationalists supporting the move, while others hope to instead focus on rebuilding the nation. It is unknown what the Emperor's intentions are, however, it clearly has caused issue and protest from Turkey and Bulgaria. |
Post by Beliya Rossiya suppressed by UPDATES FROM UKRAINE A year has passed since the initial Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian forces have successfully occupied the eastern region of Ukraine. Without western aid and improvements in the Russian military, Russia's invasion proved to be successful. The naval invasion of Crimea was swift. Very little resistance was encountered in Crimea amidst a largely sympathetic pro-Russian population, Russian forces swept in successfully occupying Crimea. Unlike the previous attempt in a sudden shock invasion and expectance of a quick Ukrainian capitulation, Russia pursued a slower approach for successfully invading Ukraine efficiently and minimizing losses. Ukraine utilized scorched Earth tactics on Donbas, which enabled a more sympathetic population but crippled supply lines for future Russian advances. The invasion was successful and encountered little fighting, as Ukraine placed little emphasis into the defense of Donbas. Many local civilians and militias joined the Russian war effort. After 2 weeks, Russia successfully occupied Donbas. Though as expected, the Ukrainian army began firing upon the borders of the Donbas region. Russian soldiers held off the line for 2 months and began building fortifications. Eventually, supply lines had been successfully established in the Donbas region along with heavy fortifications. From there on, on August 15th, Russian forces began an offensive. With naval support and air superiority, the Ukrainian forces were overwhelmed despite their fierce effort and will. Within the passing months, Russia began successfully occupying cities in the Kharkiv, Suomy, Tchernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Mylokaiv, and Odessa oblasts. Air superiority was achieved fairly easily and the vast difference in quality and quantity of Russian troops compared to Ukraine's had prompted various retreats. Precision airstrikes wiped out strategic infrastructure and command. Naval support greatly aided the Russian war effort, especially as Ukraine's navy was entirely obliterated by the Russian naval forces. A blockade then ensued, crippling the Ukrainian economy. In the realm of cyberwarfare, Russia was quite successful and deployed a much greater extent of their cyberwarfare capabilities than was previously thought possible. This knocked out Ukrainian communications and severely disrupted their war effort. Additionally, hijacking of the internet was crucial in Russian propaganda efforts and misinformation. It appeared as if Russia learnt from their mistakes in the previous utter failure of Ukraine's invasion. Additionally, the Russian military was in a much better fighting condition. At the cost of some civilian comforts, Fyodor engaged in a large scale militarization of the Russian Union - spending an estimated 24% of the GDP on the military prior to declaring war in Ukraine. Corruption was severely rooted out with harsh penalties to those in power, unlike the previous Russian Federation that somewhat tolerated military corruption for power - until it backfired. The crackdown on corruption made avoiding conscription much more difficult. Changes in military doctrine and leadership style towards less rigidity and more flexibility enabled a more adaptive military force. Moreover, the generation of Russians fighting in Ukraine differed from the previous one. They were much less exposed to western media, and encountered a significant more amount of government propaganda and isolation under the authoritarian regime of Fyodor Radoslav, which was much more repressive and iron-fisted than Putin's Russia. Additionally, the militarization of the Russian state reserved many key positions of power and social mobility for those who began in the military, which contributed significantly in raising personnel numbers. The previous times of trouble they faced were blamed on outside enemies relating to the west and globalization, and internal enemies of those Russians who cried on about "freedom and democracy," which only served to supposedly weaken the nation from its former glory. Propaganda about the triune Rus was a key element in re-establishing Russian morale. Ukraine had been portrayed as a state of traitors, and the previous Russian generations were far too weak to expel western captivity from their brotherly nation. In 8 months after the occupation of Donbas, the entire eastern and southern part of Ukraine, and parts of the Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts, were occupied. Russia has proceeded to solidify its gains in eastern Ukraine and construct supply lines, before pushing further west into Ukraine - including the city of Kiev. Constantinople Gazette Emperor Calls for Greek Liberation Today at the former Topkapi Palace, currently being renovated into a Byzantine style, now renamed the Sacred Palace after the old Roman palace, Emperor Alexios publicly demands Turkey gives full autonomy to Greek populated areas, specifically Trebizond and Cillicia. He also calls on them to release the Armenian provinces of Derzine and Vaspurikan. He is quoted as saying: "My friends and fellow Orthodox, today I call upon the Turkish remnant to right the wrongs committed upon her Christian peoples. I call upon the Ancrya government to give full autonomy and independence to Greek Pontus and the Armenian States. If they fail to do so, we will see their government as aiming the genocide of the Armenians and covering for the wrongs of their former government. We give their government 12 hours to respond." Operation Peacekeeper All across Anercia, during the waking hours of dawn, reports of the Armed Forces taking up positions and firing upon their former Blue Republican allies. In Algiers, where the HQ of the Republican Army resides, fighting occurred soon after the 1st Army Group, commanded by General Yarnem, surrounded the city with road blocks and sent their armored columns inward. He commanded his men to split into groups to search and destroy pockets of known RA positions, taking to the central highway leading to the center of the city with his main force of tanks. Information gathered beforehand by informants revealed the location of these strongholds and even their commanders, it created a concentric ring of defense inside the city, with a central fortified HQ occupying the former Governor Office. Small detachments of APC’s and armored-support infantry made quick work pacifying patrols of Republican army militia, with Type-99 tanks being brought in to assault their ad-hoc forts. These were usually well-connected apartments at important road junctions, fortified and armed with LMG’s nests and sandbags, with an interior ammo depot inside. Racing to the center, Yarnem’s forces lost a handful of APC’s to RPG ambushes by RA troops, but most RA detachments at this point surrendered but the most stubborn retreated back to their HQ. Having taken most of their forts, Yarnem ordered the whole of his army to surround the center, before assaulting he told the remaining militia to stand down. Naturally refusing, he ordered his men to stand back and to bring out their mortars to shell the position. After half an hour of relentless shelling and a few missile strikes from air force pummeling the area, the Republican Army surrendered, bringing out a handful of wounded officers to parley. Departing from his Type-99, Yarnem only saw a pitiful sight of blooded militiamen, pretending to be officers, limping towards their tanks. Three of them, one waving a white flag, caught his attention. Their commander had died during the shelling and being the most senior officers, they surrendered to Yarnem. Video on social media shows a long line of Republican Army soldiers with their hands up being escorted by the Anercian army, with Yarnem deranking the officers in front of their men. In total 2,341 Militiamen were captured and await execution by firing squad. In Tripoli, President Mercer designated this to be a ‘Special Security Operation' to purge Anercia of terroristic paramilitaries, naming numerous armed groups they once fought side by side with as terrorist organizations. The main groups were the Republican Army, The Islamic State of Anercia, and various independent “Free Companies'' employed by local warlords. Though as his soldiers destroy non-government forces throughout the country, he must answer to the General Congress to justify his operation. In the halls of the Grand Assembly, a cathedral converted into the nation's beating heart of legislation, President Mercer entered with his contingent of soldiers. The gathering was crowded as MP’s and representatives choked the corridor, all he could see were their worried faces as they saw his men carrying rifles into the building. Murmured whispers of another coup echo as the entire congress looks on at Mercer, gracefully taking his seat as the speaker calls the session into motion. After introducing the president to speak, Mercer got up without a word to the podium, “Comrades, as within my rights as commander in chief I have authorized a security campaign to destroy the remaining dangers from the war. In a few weeks the terrorists, the radical militants, and whatever foreign-backed group will no longer be in Anercia.” He explained. For an hour the assembly debated on whether to continue the operation or negotiate a ceasefire, in the end a majority of the vote ended in Mercer’s favor to continue his campaign. As a good many of you are likely aware, since our dual citizenship agreement with the region of Alcris, there has been a lot of negotiation and speculation around a merger, as a way to ensure both the survival of our region and to enrich the community of Alcris. The Council has unanimously approved an agreement, henceforth referred to as the Miyadakan Proposal; however, as this agreement necessitates the abolition of our Constitution (as we will no longer exist as a soveriegn nation), a referendum is required, with a supermajority of 2/3rds required to pass. The vote will be put up shortly, and will last for a full week to ensure as many people as possible are able to give their input on this matter. Greetings, ctizens. I come bearing news. The vote for Proposed Directive #7, the Miyadakan Proposal, is now closed, and with that, comes the long anticipated results. 9 people voted Yes, and 3 people voted No. 9 out of 12 voters is more than the supermajority required to pass such a directive, and as such, Directive #7, the Miyadakan proposal, has sucessfully been passed. Subsequently, effective immediately, the NWI will commence merging with the region of Alcris. That is the announcement itself done, but I would like to take this moment to thank you, each and every one of you reading this. I originally joined this region through another such merger, and I was welcomed into this fantastically vibrant community, filled with some of the most creative, funny, and wise people that I've ever had the honour of calling friends. And I'd like to think that I've been your friend too over these last three years, whether it was through my channel ramblings, my constant puns at inopportune times, or the robot girl love story I helped birth into being. I don't know if you in particular will be coming with us over to Alcris. Certainly, I can't blame you for doing so, there's many that didn't join the NWI from Conifer. Watching something you've grown to love come to an end like this is always tough, isn't it? But if that's got you feeling down, then I'd like you to remember this. While the region itself might not live on, the people of the NWI, the sweet lifeblood flowing through its veins, will. We'll carry the memories with us on our path, and it is those memories that make up our region. Not the institutions, not the memes, but the stories we tell about ourselves and about each other, all those small moments that we can think back on and go "huh, that wasn't so bad".
