Osiris Regional Message Board Code of Conduct

Listed here are guidelines to follow for nations utilising the Regional Message Board of Osiris, as enforced by the Viziership of Gameside Affairs. Contravention of these guidelines may result in warnings, suppression, or even ejection and banning.

Section I: General Conduct

• NationStates Site Rules have priority.

• Hate speech (including homophobia, racism, and statements in support of fascism) will not be tolerated, even ‘in character’. Osiris has a firm anti-fascist and pro-LGBT stance, and no wish for dealings with those aligned with the reverse. Posts of this nature will often not receive a warning, but instead immediate suppression, ejection, and banning.

• Spamming, whether repeated in a single message or the posting of multiple messages back-to-back (‘double-posting’) is frowned upon. If it is shown as a repeated behaviour, or an instance is particularly excessive, this may result in warnings and suppression, which may escalate if continued.

• Vulgarity/harrassment such as swearing, sexual references, insults, etcetera is not accepted. The most that will be overlooked is a heavily censored implication of profanity (e.g. “£$%&ing”), and even that in moderation. Vulgar posts will be suppressed until the offending content is removed.

• Recruitment and advertisement for other regions is not permitted, and will be suppressed.

• Particularly long messages of several paragraphs, or especially quotes of such, should be contained within Spoiler formatting as found immediately below, and may result in suppression until edited appropriately.

Section II: Roleplay

• The above rules of general conduct apply to roleplay as well. There is some leeway permitted for in-character nation features - for example, your nation will not suffer punishment merely for having the ‘Heterosexuality’ policy. That is no excuse for presenting bad conduct behind the shield of ‘it is what my nation would say’, however.

• Light roleplay on the RMB is permitted, though anything the length of a paragraph or greater should be in spoiler tags.

• If someone is uncomfortable being included in roleplay, or in the manner the roleplay is being done, they can opt-out at any time and cannot be pressured to conform.

• If people consent to roleplay, they should follow the common standards of roleplay, such as avoiding abusive language (e.g. "X-Nation are filth!") and refraining from deciding things about other participants (e.g. Y-Nation saying "And then X-Nation's fleet exploded!"). Communication is key.

• Once a roleplay is fully established, the Regional Message Board is no longer the appropriate place for it to be continued, and it should be taken to the appropriate areas of the onsite forum. This is to avoid the RMB being essentially taken over by two or three people for their own purposes and other people feeling discouraged from posting there.

• The region’s official roleplay setting, The Land of the Dead, is hosted on the official Osiris off-site forum, not the RMB.
