President Ferdinand Mark was the last President of The Republic of Jarenova. He served in the Republic Air Force for 25 years and served as the Defense Minister from 1966-1974 before being elected President. Jarenova had been facing economic issues for many years and President Ferdinand inherited this issue during his tenure as President. Even with his success during his first couple years in office, the Republic continued to fracture. In 1978 allegations of bribery against President Mark were leaked to the media. With the economic crisis and the allegations of a corrupt government, and a failed coup d'état, the Republic split and the civil war soon began in 1979 between the new Imperial government and the Republic. President Ferdinand died defending the city center of New Berlin against Imperial forces in November 1982 alongside his fellow Republic soldiers.
