JOUYEN TERMINAL
‖Quarantine Correspondence ⁃ Report No. 83 Ancillary File, Coastal Rescue‖

Go back to the main 83rd correspondence report?

In order to discourage misconceptions due to the naming of this file, I will be mentioning a disclaimer. Our squad did not tread further into the anomalous field in order to rescue the people who were whisked away by that tree, we did not even leave our camp. Granted, there were plans in the making for us to safely conduct this mission. But today the mind behind chance took us off of that route. My partners Samuel, Laum, and I were airdropped a surprise. As those in the west would say. The very same people who were taken by the tree showed up in the middle of our camp. Parents and all. Disheveled with vaguely tattered clothes of unknown origin as if they had just journeyed through the Sahene desert. Yet there were no signs of them entering the camp. Of course we were quick on our toes with an approach. I with reason believed all of them were in need of some medical care. Boy how I was wrong. Those deceptive tattered clothes did wonders with initially obscuring the fact they bore no wounds.

In fact, none of them showed the slightest bit of delirium or panic. That was before we shared with them the current date and explained to them how long they were gone. Picture me not surprised when I say this, but Laum was intrigued by their following statement. For us they were gone for up to two whole months, but for them they were gone for two hundred years. Note, they look as they did before the incident occurred. What came after this revelation was an honest but scrambled recalling of their time on the "other side" and what led to their sudden return. The youngest of the returnees began with stating how she and the other kids found themselves on the outskirts of a bustling village. One that seemed to be influenced by arabian and nubian cultural elements. Oddly with a medieval twist to it. Long story short, they spent fifty unaging years in that village. And although the parents who chased after them weren't too far behind, this includes the parents who returned to the beach, they themselves had only made it to the other side fifty years after the children did.

Another of the returnees continued where the youngest left off, giving some insight of the "world" they were trapped in for that long period of time. Technology and other fields where we have advanced here held no meaning there. Only the fist, paranatural might, and the dangerously strict hierarchy set by those who ordained themselves as the Mfalme wa Vita. That which roughly means "martial kings". This world for them was fiendishly harsh and difficult to adapt to, what with their lingering thoughts of possibly returning home someday. That and the Gallianese mindset they had to twist in order to survive among the people around them and the situations they inevitably found themselves in. Around this time when they were in the thick of it, the Harmäsi emerged. Troubled echoes of the tribulations and trauma they were made to endure as they traversed this world and while being torn from ours. Echoes that managed to cross the boundaries of the anomalous lea they were spatially tethered to. And like the other documented life-forms that were twisted by the anomaly's force, their echoes were too faced with change.

This I surmised is the reason why the Harmäsi appear as they do. For they are the hands that desperately reached out for one another in vain. It is by unfettered luck the Harmäsi and the returnees share no deeper connection with one another. Had that been the case, this camp would've been swarmed by them the moment the Harmäsi's "other halves" returned to these plains. Further analyses of the check-ups performed on the returnees after they shared their collective stories has proven this fortunately. Also in regards to their lack of aging while in the other world, there seems to be a natural regression. Appearing back on this side of the lea has apparently returned to them their original lifespans. The children especially have retained their adolescence. Same with their parents. Moreover, all of them appear to be toned and muscularly refined to some extent. More details on this particular matter will emerge after we conduct a physiology sweep on them. As with the Porilephe, they likely have carried over with them biological wonders.
